Could you PM me the set/strat you used please? and general idea of the fight. thanks
I thought Empousa was a 2/2 Card Stone
you could be right, its been a few weeks, but im fairly certain after so many kills we got a 3 drop at the end. It was weird, we grellow'd them all, had a thf on all, and over the course of kills its like his drop pool "unlocked" over time. started 1/1 then 2/1 2/1 2/2 etc. like more upgrade items would drop the more we killed him. Probably pure stupid coincidence but was odd nonetheless.
I could be wrong, my one attempt to kill it was before much info was out, and it basically fucked us up with its flying TP attacks. But heres what I've deduced for +2 bodies:
Code:Stone of ador Orthrus(A-3) Indrik(U-2) Empousa(U-2) Alfard(G-1) Jewel of ador Isgebind(U-3) Hedjedjet(A-2) Fuath(G-2) Orthrus(A-1) Coin of ador Bennu(A-3) Indrik(U-2) Fuath(G-2) Isgebind(U-1) Card of ador Alfard(G-3) Empousa(U-2) Hedjedjet(A-2) Bennu(A-1)
Are there any confirmed drops of Shadow Belt from Maere? Other wiki says that he does, but I don't know of any other elemental belts that drop from more than one NM, and since I know that Azdaja definately drops it, I'm feeling skeptical about Maere.
Alfard: Tank him from behind. Serpentine Tail has a dispel effect, but no annoying aura. However, he can still turn around and use Nerve Gas. Sub nin if you're going on mnk, honestly.
Empousa: Fuck his couch.
@Fwahm: Maere does indeed drop Shadow Belt.
Don't really see the point in subbing NIN on MNK for this fight. We did it last night with MNK/WAR, WHM, WHM, RDM, BLM, SCH and THF and despite what everyone was saying about the fight, I thought it was fairly simple. Didn't see it use Serpentine Tail once, even though at around 6% it got Nerve Gas spam happy and hate was everywhere.
This thing, imo, is a lot easier then the T2 that's before it. Alfard doesn't use Magic/Physical shields which speeds the kill up a ton and it is easily stunned. Bring at least 2 stunners and just stun Nerve Gas and limit the TP feed.
He seems to get TP spam happy and prefer Nerve Gas under 25%. He spammed it a lot under 10%, but we had 3 stunners so it wasn't that big of a deal.
Empousa on ground: melees 99.9% of the time, and the times he cast while on ground are rare as hell. Has moderate double attack. Terror eye can be dodged if you react fast enough. Bloody claw goes through shadow and has done up to 1.5k on me as NIN, but usually hovers around 300-900 randomly.
Empousa in air: when he first goes airborne he will start with either dark orb or dark mist once or twice, then use magic (either dispelga/drain/dread spikes), then 2-3 of dark orb/mist before repeating the cycle. He absorbs damage when he is casting a spell.
I used dark depths/RR/GN for tanking and fulltime yonin with pizza. Had some moderate eva gear on me. Dark orb and dark mist does in the range of 700-900 with 5/5 shell V from WHM. Just be attentive during air phase and limit how much you heal him and he'll go down. He also links with the other vodoriga... had 3 on me at once, but they are usually decent challenges to 90 since no one kills them, so more of a hindrance than any real danger.
Easily done with NIN WHM, since it's all about evading on the ground, and cure bombing in the air. WHM usually gets mm/dread/ambition.
Any strats on Xilbalba? The en-doom effect rare or are we talking a constant proc rate?
I assume you cant outrun the doom aura after blood saber due to the gravity aura in effect.
If ppl kite and bounce it around the aura won't kill anyone. SMN is the obvious choice. At one point I thought I was running from the doom aura but it was the endoom effect (I was just running and not looking around ><). The difference seems to be that endoom starts counting at 9 and doom aura at about 6. The aura-doom also wears off as soon as your out of range. Doom screen bought with dominion notes seems like a good idea if you don't have an ideal setup.
Endoom procs a lot if you have shadows down and Xibalba casts Death more often than Fear Gorta. It's best to have everyone use Atma of the Einherjar since it helps tremendously in resisting Death. Doom screens are also very useful and I think they last 3min which should be how long the fight lasts with a good setup.
they last more than 30 seconds. we did him with 4, me on nin with dark depths, GH, and RR and an average-below average evasion setup, landed kurayami and his acc was bad. never casted death, and only tp'd 3 times the whole fight with myoshu up, i was only melee on it.
edit; never timed the screen, seemed like it wore really fast against shinryu, guess not
I was spamming that nm last night and doom screens are 2 mins. Easy duo as mnk/dnc + whm, as most things. Build steps and use flourish to stun death, doom screen will last about 70% of its hp. Very easy, I just ran back to buy a new screen each fight after it died and didn't worry about endoom at all.

BLM, SCH (nuke it into shell) + THF SMN (BP) (hit it while in the shell) ?
Do you think this will work ?
I don't see why you would bother to evade on the ground since that's when you can pump out most of the dmg in the fight the quickest but I guess to each their own. Honestly the shittiest part of the fight is if it keeps dread spikes up for awhile since DD'ing it at that point could almost get you killed on a good attack round coupled with the fact that the whm will inevitably pull hate if you aren't able to put any amount of serious dmg on it. I opted into VV/RR/GH + red curry and never had acc issues while still maintaining some ability to ws while it has dread spikes up without completely draining an mp pool. I wouldn't say this is an "easy" fight as far as abyssea goes in dboxing but then again the only challenging part is keeping up with cures while not mp sinking too hard on w.e dd. Brd makes this fight like 5minutes though so if you could swing it do it.
@ Xilbalba strats: if he gets doom aura up just run away from it and have your dbox or w.e try and pull hate, if he stops to cast you can get out of range quick enough or if he turns to your alt you will get out of range. The aura is very short.
