Angel seasons 1 2 and 5 are fucking amazing. Seasons 3 and 4 are wholly worthless aside from the end of 4 setting up an entirely flawless season 5.

Spike was awesome in season 5 for sure. Marsters and nathan fillion were the few redeeming factors of season 7 of buffy (though I loved the concept of the first as a villain). I really hate whedon just for the fact that people give him too much rope to work with. If they told him "2 seasons and if it's good we'll see about more", he'd belt out genius shit without fail. He always seems to be given too much leeway and when that happens you get shit like the first season of dollhouse or season 3 and 4 of angel/a good portion of seasons 6 and 7 of buffy.
