    Also,

    Spoiler: show
I absolutely loved the beginning because it instilled a sense of hopelessness. You grow pretty attached to the main characters, and then they get into a helicopter and that motherfucker just explodes. I fucking loved that shit, but then after that there was only like 2 deaths and they were "heroic" and less helpless. Must be part of the reason I liked Cloverfield so much, still one of my favorite movies despite the criticism

Just got back from this. I enjoyed the whole thing. Not a great movie by any means, but it accomplished its job. Keeping me entertained for 2 hours. There was some pretty cool shit in it.

Edit: 1 thing that bothered me greatly. No spoilers, just some continuity stuff. Near the end of the movie, when the platoon goes in the sewers, it is the dead of night. They emerge and it looks like it's the middle of the day. Uh...what? Did hours pass before they went down or what? That was pretty bad.

    Question

    Spoiler: show
I wasn't particularly paying attention to the characters in the heli at the start of the movie when the war is going on, before it did 24 hours prior. Was that helipcopter all of them getting blown up? That's fucking crazy if so. Or was it random grunts? I really can't remember

Eh I'm sure they spent more time in the sewer than the movie showed. Never gone inside for a few and come out to find it the opposite of how you'd left? Either night or day.

    Also for heli question
    Spoiler: show
The heli was just showing the first time they deployed after the aliens landed

The helicopter pick-up was at 3am. Then they had quite a walk across the city. Then they were in the sewers. It's possible that it was dawn by the time they came up. I did think, however, that it was quite bright compared to when they went in.

Well, I'm kind of fuzzy since it was midnight when I went to go see it, but the helicopter I'm talking about is the one that the main platoon calls in once they get to the police station. I think the corporal runs out with a kid saying for them to take her/him and then the copter just explodes. It had a handful of the wounded platoon members (guy that got his face burned, guy that was alone in the washing room, loved that scene btw, and the one that got shot in the leg), along with a few people at the police station.

Honestly, after 40 minutes all the white soldiers started looking/sounding exactly the same, except for Aaron Eckhardt. The only ones I could tell apart were the medic and the other black dude (and sometimes I got them mixed up).

The sewer thing, they said they had to travel 5 clicks, I have no damn clue how far a click is, but 5 of them, in a sewer, at night, while following aliens and trying not to get caught could take quite a bit of time.

    It's just over 3 miles I believe.

    Click means kilometre.

Good action movie. I'd describe it as black hawk down with aliens, dont expect a ton of sci-fi. Also, Aaron Eckhart did a great job imo, pretty underrated actor.

    My one complaint:
    Spoiler: show
Michael Pena as the dad lol. I just cant take his face seriously. Anyone who saw Observe and Report should agree, he shouldnt be playing serious roles lol

movie was ok i guess, was the first disaster movie i came out of the movies saying 'meh' about. dont get me wrong the action scenes were pretty cool but i felt as the movie kept getting closer and closer to the end the quality of the scenes diminished. the whole sewer thing was wtf to me, and then they pop out and it was day time, i guess its possible depending on the timeline and when they entered the sewers but it felt like it was a 45 minute jaunt and then all of a sudden day time when they got to the other side.

also wtf at the whole fucking speech scene nearing the end. eckheart just talked for 10 mins to everyone it seemed BUCK UP CHAMPS WE GONNA MAKE IT

This movie is better then Skyline and not as good as independence Day. Eckhart did a great job considering the shitty script of this movie. Worth paying money for? No, but worth watching in HD on the TV then streaming online.

    Spoiler: show
Why was no one covering the dude when he ran up the tower to use the radio. Also, when the fuck did Ne-yo pick up the bazooka?

I'd say it was more entertaining than Independance day personally. It didn't slow down the action as much, and the action is the only thing either movie had worthwhile.

I didn't understand why the dude stayed up there after he made the radio broadcast. Nantz told him to come back down immediately but he stayed up there for a good 25-30 seconds, standing about looking at the incoming alien aircraft, before being killed. He had more than enough time to get down. It wasn't even slow motion!

    Um.

That "20-30" seconds was literally 5 seconds or less. I doubt anyone else would've gotten away.
