Oh shit, I may have to get a 3D TV for the game (though I doubt anything about that cover is going to reflect the final version)

Although most of it has been said;
http://scrawlfx.com/2010/12/uncharte...nd-screenshotsUncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was announced this morning. Hard to believe, huh? The first screenshots of the game make it even harder.
Naughty Dog has provided a bit more information on the upcoming sequel. The game offers a storyline that takes Drake all over the world in search for a lost city that goes by many names — one of them being the “Atlantis of Sands.” Father figure Victor “Sully” Sullivan accompanies Drake on his journey, ultimately leading them to the heart of the Arabian Desert. The journey, however, becomes a quest for survival after the city’s lost secrets are finally uncovered.
Uncharted 3 takes Naughty Dog’s physics, particle, and visual effects system to “a new level,” says the company. Both competitive and co-op online multiplayer will return with new features that combine with the single-player cinematic gameplay to create “a unique action-adventure multiplayer experience only found in the Uncharted universe.” The game also supports stereoscopic 3D.
Check out the first screenshots at the gallery. Warning: your jaw might hang for the day following your viewing of the images. If you’ve yet to see the teaser trailer, check it out below.
Doubling your fillrate per frame isn't an easy task, especially when your franchise is already known to push the limits of the system.
I can't see Uncharted 3 having a full 1280x1440 framebuffer for 3-D, I'm expecting them to do the same as Guerilla did with KZ3 and give it half the horizontal resolution per eye and upscale them instead.
I kinda do. With 3D you're looking at getting getting 60 FPS (30 fps each eye) for it to be playable. Previous Uncharted games have been 30 fps which means they're going to have to sacrifice something to get the extra 30 fps. I honestly would rather play a brilliant looking game at 30 FPS than a standard looking game at 60 fps (Obviously I'd prefer a brilliant looking game at 60 fps, but we're talking about 5 year old hardware here, not a PC).
If they're gonna be awesome about it and not have the 3D impact the 2D version of the game whatsoever then brilliant, go ahead. Usually games like GT5 do 3D mode just by dropping the resolution and removing AA, so it looks kind of ugly but it gets the 3D effect without sacrificing stuff like lighting/textures. I just hope they can pull that off with this and it looks as visually stunning (hopefully even better) as Uncharted 2.
idk how the actual development shit works but can it be a mode that can be turned on and off so that those without 3D TVs who are uninterested in the effect wouldn't have to worry about it?
That's how it usually works yeah. But they'll have to keep in mind 3D when developing the game, so it'll possibly be a limitation depending on how they decide to implement it. If they're going to be using lower res textures/less impressive lighting then it'll essentially be 2 different games. But like I said they usually just lower the res and drop anti aliasing and you'll be able to switch between 3D and non-3D in the menu.
I would think that for this particular franchise/studio they're going to be under some pretty large pressure to really deliver big graphics-wise based on the bar they've set with the previous 2, I honestly can't imagine them sacrificing that for the 3D gimmick.
New wallpaper get. Is there really an Uncharted novel coming out? lol Not sure how I feel about that. Might check that out along with the game and movie.... lol
Move is delayed, but shaping up to be a bigger piece of shit then the SF movies (it will just have well known actors)
The one thing I hope they improve is the platforming and maybe integrate it more with combat. It felt kind of boring to swing from pole to pole and the puzzles like the light/mirror and the frozen temple felt way too easy because it was just a matter of mashing x to hop from ledge to ledge. Multiplayer could also use a lot of improvements, but I couldn't care less if they don't add any because it's not a game you buy for online play.
