well, got my voucher for the uncharted theme today.
For what, the dynamic theme? Didn't know Sony was even giving some out for that, unless you had to opt-in for it?
Gotta sign up for the newsletter on the website.

Mine just arrived today too.
being able to jump on ppl to take them out is pretty awesome. But I don't like that they showed us that for the first ingame footage. The area reminded me too much of Uncharted 2's building's interior's.. w/the spanish design.
But the fire effects looked amazing
Actual gameplay footage this time

Think I'm buying a 3D (not specifically for Uncharted 3) this weekend, so will be interested to see how Uncharted 3 is in 3D... also, it seems a handful of PS3 games will offer 3D also in 2011
this is a really good prediction for the background of this game, and if it turns out to be true this game could have one of the best stories ever. also the article talks about the enemies being "Special forces" instead of the mercenaries of 2. this game will for sure be better then 2 in just about every way from everything that has been shown, im too excited!

One final piece of random speculation, purely from us: creative director Amy Hennig has always taken interesting cues from history for her script and characterization in the Uncharted series. With Marlowe having a personal claim to the ring that Nathan got from his supposed ancestor, Sir Francis Drake, I'm putting this out there: she's descended from playwright Christopher Marlowe. Mostly famous for writing tragedies like "Doctor Faustus" and being a rival to William Shakespeare in the literary world, some cursory research also shows that Marlowe was at one point accused of being a spy for Queen Elizabeth. Christopher Marlowe and Francis Drake could have been contemporaries, and I wouldn't put it past Hennig to make this a personal blood feud that stretches back to English history. Plus, if anyone could find a way to make a brawling playwright's descendant a dastardly and insidious villainous, it'd be Hennig and the rest of the Naughty Dogs.

Uncharted 3 beta begins July 5, early access for InFamous 2 buyers and Plus subscribers
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/18/un...nd-youtube-in/You won't have to wait until November 1 to try out Uncharted 3's impressive multiplayer experience. Naughty Dog is putting the mode through an open beta test that director Justin Richmond says should "teach us a lot." Early access to the multiplayer beta will be granted on June 28 for PlayStation Plus subscribers and for those who have purchased inFamous 2 (recalling a similar promotion tied to the first inFamous). The beta will launch for all PSN members on July 5.
Uncharted 2's multiplayer beta attracted more than 130,000 participants and saw an awesome prize gifted to a few lucky players, so expectations are high for the new beta. After the break, check out a thumping trailer for the new multiplayer features, including the deeper character customization -- and get a look at that spectacular Airstrip map! Mark your calendars: The real fireworks begin on July 5.
Uncharted 3 features Uncharted TV, heavy Facebook and YouTube integration
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/18/un...layer-preview/Developer Naughty Dog has announced that Uncharted 3 will feature heavy integration with social networks Facebook and YouTube, and include a new video service called Uncharted TV.
The previous game in the series offered Twitter integration (with varying success), but Uncharted 3 is going all-in on the social networking gamble, allowing players to share achievements and actions on Facebook directly from the game, and even message and play with Facebook friends who aren't connected on the PlayStation Network. The multiplayer menu has a Facebook-specific feed attached as well, so players can browse those updates right alongside the game's new customization features.
The game also integrates with YouTube. Courtesy of a revamped Cinema mode (that allows players to rewind previous games and even mark out clips and major game events), video can be posted on YouTube from inside the game, and Naughty Dog will run a service called Uncharted TV to post "plays of the week" and other announcements through the video sharing service. The whole setup was surprisingly full-featured -- players will get a look at just how it all works when the game goes into open beta on July 5.
Uncharted 3 multiplayer preview: Some shirts look good in pink
Game director Justin Richmond said he wants Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception to be the premier multiplayer experience on the PS3, a game that makes players "leave that disc in their system because they want to play so much."
We won't know whether or not that will happen until players actually get their hands on the disc this fall, but judging by the feature list revealed this week at a Sony event in Los Angeles' Chinatown, Naughty Dog might just pull that off. The actual gameplay hasn't changed all that much -- the multiplayer still relies on the single-player campaign's shooting and cover mechanics. Outside of the game modes, however, the metagame is just plain incredible.
For one, characters are now fully customizable. Though you're still choosing from a basic hero or villain model, there are all sorts of clothes and accessories to equip, and colors can be set piece-by-piece to make a look that's truly yours. Weapons can be customized, not just cosmetically, but there are mods to add on as well, for things like faster reloading, more ammo, or "Callout," which "spots" shot enemies for other players to see. Emblems have more options than ever, and they show up all over the place, even posted in the levels themselves.
Customization is new to the series (though obviously not new to multiplayer games like this), so I asked game designer Robert Cogburn why Naughty Dog was doing this now. "It makes a far more interesting experience," he said. "The idea here is that we really want players to feel invested in their characters, and allowing customization is a good route to go for that." The options are many, but not completely limitless -- heroes and villians each get their own sets of clothing (so you can still easily identify each side on the maps), and Cogburn said Nathan Drake will still be recognizable, even if he's now wearing aviators. "We're not going to give Drake a top hat and a pink shirt, although some shirts do look good in pink -- just saying."
Elsewhere in the metagame, defeated players now drop treasures that can be collected for items and cash, and there are all sorts of new boosters -- some that can be bought right in the middle of a match to provide extra bonuses. Boosters also level up for more abilities, and there's a new feature called "Medal Kickbacks": Earning a certain amount of medals in a match gives you one-shot bonuses, like an RPG to wield or an instant respawn out of trouble. New types of missions are available as well, including "instant missions" (that give you a quick target to chase in, for example, the next 15 minutes) and friend missions that you can tackle with others.
Besides the usual game options (and some more unannounced modes Richmond hinted at), there are two new modes to play with. Free For All is one of the most requested, according to Naughty Dog, and that's in for the first time. Three Team Deathmatch pits three teams of two up against each other, which programmer Sandeep Shakar said is a concept borrowed from the single-player side of things. "How much of Uncharted 1 and 2 was Drake and Sully or Drake and Elena?" he asked. "It's two people going at it, taking that theory and putting it into multiplayer."
The two-player teams also make use of a new element called the Buddy System that Naughty Dog said is designed to build more tactical gameplay into the multiplayer. In team matches each player gets a buddy -- players can spawn on that buddy and see him or her on the map at all times. Working together earns extra cash, and in certain circumstances, players can even high five each other, which also grants an extra reward. Like Battlefield: Bad Company 2's Squad system, the mechanic gives a little more meaning to one of your teammates.
Naughty Dog is also building in some new mechanics to keep matches interesting. "Power Plays" are designed to keep things balanced. If one team in a match starts to pull ahead, the game will throw various benefits or curses out, like granting the losing team double damage or giving the winning team a VIP to protect. These aren't designed to be game breakers, and they weren't during our play session. Since most of the options grant the winning team a chance at a big reward and give the losers a nice chance to get back ahead, they serve their purpose of keeping matches competitive.
Another big emphasis this time around is trying to bring the cinematic feel of the single-player game into the multiplayer matches. The two maps we played on, Chateau and Airstrip, each changed throughout. On Airstrip, the match actually starts in the hold of a cargo plane in mid-takeoff surrounded by moving trucks, and players could jump from truck to truck while trying to take out the other team. Chateau was based on the single-player level we've seen -- as the French mansion burned, walls in the map fell apart and opened up. Naughty Dog is trying to "make sure these events not only look cool, but actually change the state of the level," said Cogburn.
If there's a drawback to the multiplayer, it's that despite all of the new ways to earn cash and change the characters around, it doesn't play much differently than the previous game. If you're one of the few turned off by the cover system and combat in the previous titles, you'll find the same mechanics here. Naughty Dog has said that they learned a lot with the last game's balancing fixes, but Cogburn admitted that nothing is ever perfect. "I think with any online experience," he said, "you have that many people playing a game, it's going to evolve, and inevitably you'll find things that are wrong." So balance issues might be back again, especially with all of the new twists.
Naughty Dog has also announced significant social networking connections to the multiplayer, and it's promising even more announcements and reveals before the open beta for the game begins in early July. If everything it's promising all works as described, Naughty Dog might claim that "premier multiplayer" title after all.

First Look At Uncharted 3’s All-New Multiplayer Mode, Now With Buddies, Splitscreen and High Fives
Soon, you'll be able to high five your PlayStation Network and Facebook buddies while standing over the corpse of Nathan Drake—and you'll be rewarded for doing so in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception's all-new online multiplayer component.
PlayStation 3 owners will be able to get their hands on the game's multiplayer as early as June. Uncharted 3 doesn't ship until November, but a multiplayer beta for the game will go wide on July 5, with early access to that beta hitting a week earlier on June 28. PlayStation Plus subscribers and Infamous 2 owners will allowed that early access.
Now, high-fiving your teammate in Uncharted 3 may not be the most innovative or impressive of the game's features, but it was one I was happy to pull off while standing above a pile of pirate corpses. (Especially after being "left hanging" a few minutes earlier by my matchmade buddy.)
Here are the more impressive and exciting features of Uncharted 3's multiplayer, starting with the benefits of friends.
Uncharted 3 introduces the Buddy System, which does more than just let players high five each other. When paired with a buddy in, say, the game's new Three Team Deathmatch mode, a six player, 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 contest, players can earn extra cash by performing certain actions during matches. They can be as subtle as high-fiving for a few extra bucks or more complicated, like teaming up to take down a foe, but all carry a risk-reward consideration.
The Buddy System also adds special Buddy Boosters, unique player perks that help players work in tandem to earn extra cash, ammo, grenades, medals and more. Players can respawn on their buddy's location during a match and buddies are made easily visible with a unique marker.
Speaking of Boosters, the perks of Uncharted 3, players can now purchase Paid Boosters by using their in-game cash to buy skills that aren't available simply through unlocks. While the list of Boosters is long and varied, with the ability to level them up through player progression, there's one Booster that won't make a return.
Yes, Situational Awareness, the bane of many Uncharted 2 players, will not be returning for Uncharted 3.
What else is new in Uncharted 3 multiplayer?
Free For All - It's every man for himself in eight-player FFA multiplayer.
Power Plays - an event that gives the leading team an opportunity to earn more cash and the losing team an opportunity to score more kills. Naughty Dog says "it sucks when you get blown out" during a multiplayer match, something Power Play aims to address.
Overtime and Sudden Death - Closer matches may need to be settled with good old fashion kills counts. If a match is really, really close, the game will add a minute-long Overtime period, for added intensity. Sudden Death settles things in case of a tie, with last man standing rules applying.
Medal Kickbacks - Medals picked up from treasure chests can be spent to buy temporary boosters. They're one-time uses and include special abilities like a rocket launcher, a smoke bomb that teleports players out of sight and Carpet Bomb, an option to toss three grenades at once.
Massive Customization - Players can fully customize their characters, outfitting both heroes (Drake, Sully) and villains with "hundreds of unique parts," including hats, shirts, sunglasses, pants, shoes and more. Want Nathan Drake to wear a purple thermal shirt and gold jeans? No problem. Players can also customize their weapon load outs (primary gun, secondary handgun, two booster slots and one medal kickback slot) and add weapon mods to guns.
Cinematic Multiplayer - That runway sequence you see in the above multiplayer trailer? That's part one of the two-part Airstrip map. More on that later.
The trailer also shows off a few new Uncharted 3 multiplayer tricks, like deep player, weapon and emblem customization, splitscreen multiplayer, new taunts, melee during platforming, environmental hazards like that plane that strafes the runway and more, like improved environmental destruction.
We'll have more soon in our hands-on impressions of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception multiplayer.
The multiplayer components look really nice and unique compared to the sea of CoD clones, but is it still going to have the item pickup system? That was really the killer for me in the 2's multiplayer, it sucked always starting with the same rifle and half the matches were just a fight over the top tier weapon spawns.
If I fap any harder my wife is going to hear me.
