    Buying a router for dd-wrt

So I'm moving to a new place. I'm looking to buy a new router to flash with dd-wrt. Any advice on what to buy?

    Thanks in advance.

    if you don't need N, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-190-_-Product

I personally prefer tomato, but that will work great with dd-wrt as well.

There's a reason it's the "41x Winner for Wireless Routers Customer Choice Award" on newegg.

I've probably bought and setup 15+ of them over the years for people.

The dd-wrt website also has a list of compatible hardware if Linksys isn't your thing for whatever reason.

I have an Asus RT-N16. It is the 8th router I have owned and used either DD-WRT or Tomato on. And by far the best. I prefer to run Tomato on it due to the ability to mount USB HDD's without as much work, but both firmwares are excellent.

This router is also one of the fastest on the market(In terms of clockspeed and proccessing power) So things like USB Access, Firewall, and anything else it has to think about happen much smoother.

not that it looks great on paper but

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...96&Tpk=wrt610n

is the best router i've ever had (have run a few networks but i'm talking about my house). i found it somehow for about $100 in january and i haven't had a single moment of downtime that i didn't cause on purpose. of course it had dd-wrt on it the first day it was active though (dd-wrt.v24-14311_NEWD-2_K2.6_big is my current i think). i realize the newegg reviews aren't the best but i fully stand behind this one.

but like i said i found it much cheaper than that price a year ago.

The newer versions of that router have less flash memory to use though, right? I dunno, I have an older one at work with DD-WRT on it, and it works fine.

I recently bought a Netgear WNR3500L to use with DD-WRT...seems solid so far. Was on sale at Newegg, and advertised as supporting DD-WRT.

you're thinking of the wrt54g, I linked the wrt54gL, which specifically uses the higher base flash memory of the earlier g models.

Thanks for the responses. I do already have a WRT54GL at my old place (which I'm leaving the router for my friends), and I am looking for faster processors/memory/etc.

I think I'm going to get the Asus RT-N16.
