Wow, I have hope for XIV getting better now Tanaka is gone! FFXI improved to no end once Tanaka left for XIV. With Tanaka away from the forefront of XIV, I'm a lot more optimistic!

I wonder how much they can technically re-write with people still playing and grinding their classes.
Guess it will mostly be UI changes, Leve changes and Party system changes with everything else as it is. Too bad I'll still be missing RDM
Expectations of what's actually going to change might be getting out of hand.
...because you have any idea.
You're right, in most cases it will just be wishfull thinking.Expectations of what's actually going to change might be getting out of hand.
But then, I wonder how much this Superstar team can re-do instead of patch/fix. I wish them best.
Soon we'll find out Yoshida was the director of versus XIII.
*delayed until 2015*
Winter vacation just got even vacationer.
I personally think he did have input on the game direction and which features to press on![]()
I find it odd people think XI has more of a budget now then a year or so ago. Is there proof of this somehow? We don't get 'real' expansions, what we do get is rehashed zones/mobs and updates are no more frequent then they were before. The difference is solely that the content we are getting is simply better and focused in the right direction - which isn't the result of an increased budget.
Anyhoo, I can at least now go to bed happy in the knowledge that Tanaka is out of my online life
SON OF A BITCH!
You guys stole my Director of Awesome. I hope the new guy for XI does as good or better...
I want you to think about this a bit more. Compare.
Add-on scenarios = items added to loot pool of existing monsters for a fetch quest, few cutscenes, a ??? fight against slightly reskinned monsters (ex. mandragoras), one original BCNM fight. Rewards = 3 different actually remodeled pieces of equipment. Augment system that carried over for all 3 add-ons and beyond.
Compare to this: You are getting, if not weapon skills for each weapon type, at least a new original emote for all jobs. Instead of two-three jobs getting some adjustments, almost everyone gets something, a new JA/JT/spell or adjustments to existing ones. Every job gets remodeled AF3 piece (3>2), plus a new set of original ultimate weapons. Let's not even go into the battle add-ons themselves, and the amount of work put into them as opposed to a ??? in qufim island and a fight against an immobile crystal. Every add-on introduces a different subsystem (Bastion > Dominion(or something)). Even still we get events like Walk of Echoes. And the Shinryu fight? That alone in this update would have been worth an add-on scenario, lol.
Perspective, people. Money rules the development. Tanaka rules the money.

Yoshida's track record is not really that impressive. He has directed or produced the Agarest War series, according to Elmer. But he is definitely fresh blood. Joined the company in 2004. Still, I guess he's seen in higher regard than demoted Komoto.
I really don't see why people should be grinding to attain max rank while they proceed to fix stuff. Well, supposing they are gonna fix A LOT of it.
What i mean is that in the lucky turn of events that FF14 becomes a much better game, people would already had gone throught it with their main, probably most loved, class. Sure there's sub classes, but I dont see why players should experience a crappy game only to reach endgame the moment the whole game becomes better.
Well, unless they work on endgame mostly, which would be weird tho.
Maybe they want to support SE by paying them the subsc...oh wait.
Well this is... great news. 2 patches before the year's end? Sounds like a lot of content is on its way. Looking at FFXI and how good it's been this last year I'm really excited to see what they have in store for FFXIV.
I suppose this is the reason why they stopped with the daily updates a couple days ago.
Pride goes before the fall. Intensely gratifying to see such humility after such arrogance.
I played after Open Beta, was so excited about this game and found it unplayable, or at least un-enjoyable. My older computer certainly had something to do with that, but all of these changes certainly sound promising, and I can see myself checking out ffxiv again after XI hits 99 and so forth. Good to see.
