I don't understand the auto-attack thing either. I like the no auto-attack just because watching your character swing away then pressing a TP move every minute seems boring. I just see Heavy Strike/Light Strike/Pummel as my new "Abilities," but with no auto attack. If that makes sense.
Tire companies do it all the time.
2 version updates this month. Was it announced before or just from the vague newsletter? These members will make up the development team's new core-a core dedicated to ensuring we achieve a level of enjoyability that will more than satisfy our customers. Under a schedule of more frequent version updates, the new leaders and their respective sections will strive for continued improvements to FINAL FANTASY XIV service operation and development.
Either way, i think this is a great way for the new team to make their entrance.
Now to see what their idea of "frequent" may entail. Do you guys think they will still only be doing content version updates every 3 months?
First time I've laughed at anything Lucavis said lol.
Definitely applaud the effort on SEs part. Reading between the lines though it seems the game won't really be "enjoyable" or overflowing with subs until middle of next year now though, which saddens me. Going to take some serious time to completely overhaul this thing.
Not sure what some people mean about it being hard for JPs to swallow humble pie though. They aren't samurais guys. It's a business that's it.
In the meantime, as much as it pains me I've decided to go see what Cata is about while they sort all this out. Going to be some interesting and probably turbulent months ahead in Eorza.
They had announced one for December, which was supposed to be part two of the miracle patch to at least make the UI semi up to par with 11's system in terms of function, and then they had announced updates for early 2011 that would include a redesigned UI with new features, but to my knowledge, they hadn't said we'd get two patches in December.
I really think my argument about the money still stands. Your saying 20 new emotes, weapon skill animations and remodeled AF equates to being more expensive then the development costs of an expansion pack like Aht Urghan which generally contains a mass of new armour, zones, systems and story CS? Abyssea isn't bad at all and the game is going in a great direction but its *not* due to more funds. They have to sell all these updates to us in 10 dollar packs just to make up for their lack of budget XD
on the one hand, glad it's getting fixed
on the other hand, as a PS3 owner: FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU
There is the bit of information that makes me think Tanaka isn't completely at fault, that maybe he got screwed. SE was having a bad semester. I am sure you all saw the report. People looked at it as if some kind of sign that FFXIV bombed on them, but they failed to put 2 and 2 together. FFXIV closed out the semester. It is obvious without FFXIV's (600k?) sales the drop would have been even greater(I believe SE has a history of this problem with non-FF/DQ semesters). You don't want that for your shareholders. So is it so strange that someone like Wada or someone at a similar executive level want to push out a huge project to spike sells? (Also SOME of the fixes seem to come too quickly for the SE I am used to, as if they were always suppose to be included at a later launch.)
If that is the case, Tanaka would never speak up about it given the work environment and expectations.
They had a choice. They could have held the game up and released it later; after the semester if it was so important. They released it early to cash-grab before Cata and paid dearly for it.
Thanks for not paying attention.
Tanaka has to take the fall to save face for the game, since he was the head man in charge of FFXIV. Of course he isn't the specific reason FFXIV is failing. The whole dev team is at fault. But, he is obviously the one who has to take the brunt of the blame since he heads the team. I personally think Komoto should be removed from the team as well, because isn't he the reason behind the shitty market ward system/no AH/no mail? Yeah great idea. Off with everyone's head who didn't argue for having those in the game.
Why don't they just shut down the servers, refund money to everyone that purchased the game and release it when it's at a satisfactory level? People getting up to a year worth of free play time is just bullshit. They might as well just turn it into a fucking cash shop model.
