@Jamison you have some duplicate quotes in there, may want to remove those to make the list of quotes a little more readable and less likely for someone to tl;dr.

Thanks for collecting those quotes Jamison <3
Bumping in hopes of getting more input on bait/fish combinations. The following are the fish each bait/lure are favored by that I have personally seen.
The message "The fish seem to be biting on your ____s." followed by "Something big hits your line!" means whatever fish that's biting favors the lure/bait you're currently using and is much faster and, I am assuming, is more likely to bite. Please feel free to mention any fish that favored your lure/bait that I don't have listed below and I'll try to keep it updated as my Fisher is only Rank-32 and I don't really have access to a number of fish and many lures/fishing points are out of my league.
Raw/Live Bait
Bloodworm:
Moth Pupa:
Pill Bug:
Lugworm:
Rat Tail: Crimson Crayfish, Blue Coral, Monke Onke, Southern Pike, Yugr'am Salmon, River Crab, Blindfish, Nether Newt, Tiger Cod
Syrphid Basket: Blindfish, Bone Crayfish, Crimson Crayfish, Ala Mhigan Fighting Fish, Yugr'am Salmon, Box Turtle, Velodyna Carp, Northern Pike, Nether Newt
Midge Basket: Yugr'am Salmon
Prepared Bait
Crayfish Ball:
Bass Ball: Tree Toad
Crab Ball: Bianaq Bream, Sea Pickle,
Goby Ball: Bianaq Bream, Sea Pickle, Rothlyt Oyster
Herring Ball: Hammerhead Shark
Fly Lures
Chocobo Fly: Crayfish, Crimson Crayfish
Crow Fly: Rainbow Trout, Dart Frog, Nether Newt
Snurble Fly:
Wildfowl Fly:
Vulture Fly:
Miscellaneous Lures
Floating Minnow:
Sinking Minnow: Merlthor Goby, Vongola Clam
Spoon Lure: Haraldr Haddock, Hammerhead Shark, Vongola Clam
Cage Feeder:
Topwater Frog: Northern Pike
Note: All leve-versions of a fish will favor the same bait as their normal versions. For example, Fresh Yugr'am Salmon for Humblehearth's "Salmon Superior" leve will favor Syrphid Baskets just like any other normal Yugr'am Salmon.
There aren't any Dark Bass listed in that gathering spreadsheet for the fishing point northeast of Horizon, but I just caught one there. Rank 20 fisher with a pine rod and dodoskin gear, using Bass Balls, depth 6 (and confirmed as the sweet spot).
Tiger Cod love them rat tails.
question, what caused "the fish got away" (happened at first jig or sometimes even after the fish is tired message)
it happened so many times today, it really irritates me.. the other day i was fishing just fine and got plenty of fishes.
when does this fatigue wore off![]()
when i hit this fatigue on miner it wears off after a few hours at most. one nights rest is overkill
I think it used to be that it was around 20 hours for a full reset (fairly well confirmed), but it seems like it is less now. I'm guessing one of the updates changed it, now it seems like I can do about two "full sessions" per day. I think hitting fatigue from scratch comes a tiny bit quicker, but if you do a second session 10 hours later, the net result is more overall.
I haven't had any interest in playing for many weeks now so if someone else wants to start a new thread or if you want to edit your first post Mioko, we can ask a moderator to remove my first two posts. Whatever works best for the community.
Send me a PM/email to get in touch if you guys need anything from me, like confirmation to remove my posts for a moderator, etc. Take care
The best thing to do would be to have Mioko start a new thread if you want an updated first post, and I'll move the rest of the stuff over. Unfortunately deleting your posts won't quite have the effect you're thinking.
The sweet spot for all fish is currently already known, as well as the sweet spot for specific fish at most all known 1 through 5 grade points. The Disciples of the Land community is really impressive in their detective work and their organization skills. I recommend bookmarking their site and also participating if you're so inclined. It is my current go-to site for all things DoL.
Here are the sweet spots:
http://www.disciplesoftheland.com/fo...?g=posts&t=290
and
http://www.disciplesoftheland.com/fo...=1571#post1571
(This second one is more voluminous.)
Here is their interactive map. You can set it to show you only fishing and spearfishing points. Click on each point to see what has been found about it. The grades 1 through 5 have the most information. They'll even tell you if there are aggro mobs at that point. It is a little slow right now, as they've just overhauled the mechanics of it. Probably needs some tweaking still.

For example, if you load the La Noscea map, and go over to Cedarwood, and click the little ( F ) symbol for that body of water, you'll see that:
Grade 4 Fishing
+0 Ash Tuna
+1 Bianaq Bream
+1 Hammerhead Shark
-4 Malm Kelp
-3 White Coral
And if you click the ( S ) spearfishing points at Cedarwood you'll see:
Grade 4 Spearfishing
Azure Lac Bugs
Gules Lac Bugs
Purpure Lac Bugs
Moth Pupa
White Scorpion
Black Scorpion
The ( Fs ) symbol is for fishing spots. The same used in leves.
Since the site is manually updated through player feedback, if you want to help add information to the maps, feel free to start sharing over there. For example, I know Cedarwood fishing also has Silver Sharks and Ala Mhiga Fighting Fish, and Red and Blue Corals, so I need to share that with them still.
@Vuitton
Thanks for sharing the site over here at bluegatr.com.
I just wanted to let you know that I have done some updates to the maps that should make them a lot more responsive. I was aware that not many had patience to wait so long for the information but this should be better now :DIt is a little slow right now, as they've just overhauled the mechanics of it. Probably needs some tweaking still.
This has also been changed a little as you will now get information of rank of item as well as sweetspots. This helps when deciding a spot to fish. Fx: G3 Saltwater at bloodshore is much easier than G3 Saltwater at Horizons Edge (Docks) because of Black Sole (rank 46) and to some degree Hammerhead Shark (rank 32). At Bloodshore the highest ranking fish is Rothly Oyster at 28 that you can pull up much easier. This means you will get a lot more catches and hence SP.For example, if you load the La Noscea map, and go over to Cedarwood, and click the little ( F ) symbol for that body of water, you'll see that:
Grade 4 Fishing
+0 Ash Tuna
+1 Bianaq Bream
+1 Hammerhead Shark
-4 Malm Kelp
-3 White Coral
True: We update the maps manually. We don't use logparsing or similar as we need rather detailed information on where the resource points are (position x,y is not enough to determine the spots). We are constantly working on improving the maps and as stated all information we get is very much appreciated.Since the site is manually updated through player feedback, if you want to help add information to the maps, feel free to start sharing over there. For example, I know Cedarwood fishing also has Silver Sharks and Ala Mhiga Fighting Fish, and Red and Blue Corals, so I need to share that with them still.
Just one little addition: The maps are not only relevant for fishing; Miners and Botanist information is also displayed. We have some very dedicated moderators that do a lot of updating but finding all information on all resource points is a big task. Registered members can log information on any point placed on the maps and this information is then manually considered and entered if found plausible. Keeping the maps accurate is the main focus. We would rather have less information than incorrect information.
I hope that you will all find the maps informative and let you find all those things you need to obtain through DoL in FFXIV :D
From Alpha thur Open beta I have had no problem fishing.
Since Release I have not been able to catch more then say 20 fish.
i'm in a first hit fail all the time. no matter the gear or bait.
I've taken Fishing 0-20 4 times beta 1/2/3/ Open beta. And I have
only got to rank 9 in release, mostly from spearfishing.
kinda getting sick of:
you wait for a bite
you feel a bite.
you have hooked something but can't yet reel it in.
The fish gets away.
No matter where I jig this happens except when I hit right on it the first time and get
an auto catch. 2-3 fish later back to the same hook/loss.
Did anybody have this? can help me? PLEASE!!!
What grade are you fishing in?
are you using the correct bait? (the old freshwater in saltwater bait crap doesn't work anymore)
have you experienced similar issues with the other DoL jobs?
are you using any 3rd party applications?
You will suck ass until you bear with it and first gain a few ranks in Grade-1 waters catching crawfish with bloodworms (or similar rank-1 baits). If it's not a question of rank, you're either fatigued, or you're just WAY OFF on your second jig. I tend to mash enter so my first jig is dead-center. Then I do maybe 30% to one of the sides as my second jig and go from there.
You've been experiencing Jig lag.
Your first jig has more time to respond then most, but any following jigs have 10 seconds to respond or they will always auto fail.
Either you are not responding fast enough, or the servers are lagging (your ISP or SE) making it seem longer then 10 seconds.
I have not had lag to deal with yet and ben fishing, to know if 1.15a has changed any of this, but this is my best explanation for what is happening, prior to yesterdays patch.
This is the best awnser. two before you not really paying attention to wait I said.
I know how to fish. Asking if i'm in the right grade waters is kinda silly.
But I believe this is correct. it takes a long time for jig to start after I select so lag is getting me. I have graphics lag due to and out dated card. my wife have a new card in here rig. I'll try on hers. I do have a high ping on my ISP but it hasn.t effected mining and harvesting, but that's not to say fishing may be more sensitive to it.
Thank you very much I'll try to come up with a better plan for fishing now.
