Read further on, he goes on to state that the N7 Goliath weekend works both as a PR response in both ways, so yes it wasn't just suddenly thought up by Bioware as a way to avoid backlash and extend an olive branch. It was however more then likely thought up as something positive in hopes of the games resounding success and now can be utilized in another way just as well. It's not indoctrinating to have someone who supposedly worked in the PR damage control industry telling people how the game is played, because that's exactly what it is, just a back and forth game. I saw nothing in his post that was misleading or even combative towards Bioware, it talks about how EVERY company goes through this and it is a process.
As far as your take on the ending and others, while that might hold true, it very well might not. But again, this is a video game, not a book or movie and even moreso, it is a video game wherein the players...themselves..developed the story. Yes Bioware laid the foundation, but players developed how their Shepard acted and who he was, what his motivation was in their minds and wanted endings based upon that..not something from J.J. Abrams![]()
Goliath Weekend was a coincidence. Thats all he has to say, but instead he spreads it out into a topic of almost warlike magnitude. Its disgusting. I get that there is a PR department, don't get me wrong, but this guy just floats shiny words in front of people combined with some logic and gets everybody to follow him. The guy is a manipulative tool almost evil in nature and people need to stop taking his word as if its directly from God.
speaking of overreacting
The problem is I don't like what Ray said. For one thing he came across as a pompous jackass by going "Well we understand and respect you guys, but the reviewers totally loved it so we don't actually understand or respect you that much because we think you are whiners... but it's okay because we still understand and respect you except when you aren't understanding and respectful." It also still sound like they are sticking to the ending and 'expanding' upon it, rather than rewriting parts or it or throwing it out and starting over, which are the only two acceptable options at this point for that ending.
I just get the feeling Ray either still doesn't understand, or he does and simply doesn't care enough to actually fix the problem.
I was just trying to defend a little bit of ME3, but this comment just made me lol hard.

I don't really think they can go back and just give it a new ending though. There are people who liked the ending the way it was, and there a number of different ways you could look at it. If they changed the ending outright, then the people who did like the ending would be betrayed, and thats the main thing that they need to be worried about. If anything at the very most I feel like they will allow for additional alternate endings without removing the existing endings at all. Then at some point during the final moments you can make a choice that would allow you to go with the alternate endings or take the ones we have now. Either way the game is going to end and the story is going to come to a close. Expanding on what we have now won't do any good, they would have to change something to have the ending make sense at the very minimum.
Okay look, I'll explain what we are upset about, and if you don't understand, I'm glad you are happy with the game, but understand that we aren't, and that doesn't make our complaints illegitimate.
Spoiler: show
I'm not someone who thinks returning the game is a valid thing to do. I don't believe going to the BBB or the FCC is a rational course of action. But you better believe I'm upset. Mass Effect 3 was a wonderful game, eclipsing the first two in scope, atmosphere, and impact... up until the last 10 minutes. You don't seem to understand how such small things can kill suspension of disbelief. Obviously I'm not alone in this, as tens of thousands of players are just as upset, if not more so. Are you going to say that we are all trolls or nonsensical whiners? If you wish to just dismiss us, you are under estimating what a disenfranchised group can do. And so are Bioware.
I would accept an alternate ending living side by side with the actual one. Most fans would agree. But that isn't what he said. He said they would be elaborating on the existing ending, answering some of the questions that weren't answered. It's like showing the Phantom Menace in 3D. You can add fancy camera tricks and new tech, but if the fundamental story behind it is flawed, sometimes it can't be fixed with more content.
I feel like he just doesn't get it, or he doesn't care. I don't know which is worse.
Souj is just trolling guys, he already tried to defend himself a few pages back, disregard him.
When you hope the entire game is a long dream sequence that means something went wrong with the ending. ⌐ ⌐
wiping with 30 sec left on gold = bawwww
Because you don't get the win?
yeah but wins dont matter on gold, its not like you're farming it for anything but the money
oh no, not getting a trophy until one match later, I could just die
