Was the falcon ever un-nerfed enough to use again? I haven't even tried a Plat yet, but it seems pointless to try with an AR ghost atm.
In my experience, I've found the Collector Rifle to be a good not-a-Harrier to use. Decent damage rating and accuracy, awesome capacity. The Harrier is definitely better if you have it and don't mind running back to an ammo crate every minute or two because of it's tiny, tiny capacity, which is even more painful when you have it at a low level. Probably the only weapon I actually need to use Thermal Clip packs for once in a while. Also, the Harrier doesn't come from event crates, it's a regular Ultra-Rare weapon.

    I've never tried the Falcon.

The falcon is pretty sweet on heavy casters because the grenades it fires cause staggers. They didn't unnerf it but they did lower it's weight. So if you're relying on your powers for damage, it's a solid choice to keep groups of enemies from advancing between your casts, and it's quite helpful to the team as a whole on objectives. Just doesn't deal a lot of damage all around. Then there's the benefits of the aoe for spreading ammo powers and the fact that it hits a little faster than the scorpion and can shoot behind guardians for damage. Collector rifle still seems bad, like barely better than an avenger. Maybe if they'd given it an armor and shield modifier it would have been ok, but as it is, it really excels at nothing. Saber just got a buff so if you have that it's probably the next best to Harrier or Typhoon.

I hated it when the weekend events started and I kept getting it instead of the sniper or ar, but the hurricane smg is better than the ars I do have now...

Sabre works great on silver, but there's not much point as anything does. On gold, it just shoots too slow for me with so many targets that require multiple hs to drop and they move fast.

It seems like all stealths have given up on sniping, focusing on powers and an ar, pistol smg or shotgun. Thanks to the ultra light mats, its actually feasible to carry 2 guns now. Thinking I'll have to just abandon having an ar until I get Harrier (it seems to be the only one used in gold+). Gonna keep using the hurricane and either use the lightning sg or find a good pistol for range.

What level is your Saber at? I've had great luck with the Saber + Ghost Infil. on Gold and Plat. Regarding ammo; if it ever becomes an issue on Rio, try standing in the loading zone next to the crate set up against cover, across from the far staircase, rather than just going towards the shed in back. As long as the whole group isn't bunched up there (and you are aware that enemies might be coming down the close staircase, which you can't see), it makes a good vantage point.

It's actually just a saber II (quit playing about 6 months ago). It can work on gold, but it does meager damage on the heavies even with mods and ghost stealth buff. Meanwhile, I can use the hurricane to kill it all faster without any damage buff mods, not to mention everyone else blowing through stuff with powers and sg...

Saber works great for the first 4 rounds, then just situational on gold for me.

Gun classes will probably be a little disheartening until you have something really cool at level five or above. I'd take a look at what you have that looks good in the gear slot, and play to that with a solid power based class (human sentinel if you've got biotics, most engineers if you've got tech upgrades)... destroy face, get credits on gold, and once you've got a really good Sniper Rifle or AR, soldiers and infiltrators will be way more fun to play.

So anyone get ME1 on PS3? I was going to DL it today, just wondering how it looks/plays all these years later. I am NOT looking forward to the damn truck missions.

Played some this morning, I just can't seem to get interested in the whole mass effect lore. That and the platinum would take a stupid amount of time with 3 full play throughs including all missions =/

ME1 is the "roughest" in terms of gameplay. It was more focused on being a rpg. Don't bother unless you want the foundation of the story and background of the chars in ME3 (not ME2).

Still getting back into multi. Noticing lots of bugs still present such as joining games where the enemies aren't visible, shields never recharge, stim packs activate, but don't recharge shields before death, hits not counting, etc... Store finally never d/cs me, but lag in matches is still an issue as well.

If you're looking for a decent gold gun out of the box, the Crusader is quite solid for characters that don't need fast cooldowns. I love it on Vorcha soldier/sentinel as you can use it for long range fights and for chipping away at armored targets. This lets you spec.....sigh.....Flamer for shield damage and range. This lets you stop and entire enemy mook advance in it's tracks, or at least soften them significantly for your team to mop up. Crusader can be a little finicky with lag, but in most cases completely usable. It also has the benefit of not needing any accuracy or ammo mods so you can focus on getting pure damage and armor penetration on it. Vorcha are extremely tough, but you do have to watch out for high damage single hitters like scions and geth primes.

ME1 had the best story, but the worst gameplay.
ME2 had great gameplay and a great story - or at least, great characters, since it was a very character-driven story.
ME3 had the best gameplay and a good story, until the last 30 minutes or so.

If you need good gameplay to get sucked in, I'd recommend starting with ME2 and going back to ME1 if you want more detail for the backstory.

I've been wanting to do a full playthrough again on Insanity for fun (and Garrus romancing), but ME1 for the PC is really choppy for me compared to modern games so I might have to skip it. Plus I don't wanna sit through ME1's gameplay on Insanity difficulty. :c

I wouldn't say ME1 had the best story, particularly since the animation and dialogue is so wooden.

In my opinion, the actual story arc of 1 was the best out of the three, if you can ignore the limitations they had to work within as an early Xbox 360 game. Obviously, it's not perfect, but it felt a lot more cohesive than the other two.

ME2 was great, but it was very character-driven, and the actual storyline can be completed in no time flat if you don't do all the sidequests that are completely unrelated to the central story - the Collectors and their abductions. And as good as the loyalty missions are, they are just sidequests that don't have any actual bearing on the story aside from "now this person probably won't die". It was also clearly the middle part to a trilogy and doesn't stand up on its own very well, plot-wise. ME3's got some seriously nice presentation, but the actual storyline starts to fall apart once you look at it too hard - ignoring the obvious flaws with the ending, there are several plotholes and moments that clash with the lore. As far as I'm concerned, though, they made a mistake going so far as having the Reapers actually arrive right at the open of the game when they had previously made them out to be unbeatable killing machines in previous games. It felt to me like it relied more on spectacle than story. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, it just makes the story weaker in the long run. There was a lot of wasted potential in it because (for example) they wanted a Space Ninja as an antagonist but didn't want to write him a personality.

Just to clarify, I love the shit out of all three games and I don't think I could ever choose a favorite. Just explaining my reasoning~

    Re: Mass Effect 3

If you want to cheese it out like I have before when my pc died, go find a mass effect 1 save close to what you want, then import it into 2. Get to the first point you can save then exit out and tweak the ME1 quest flags to your liking in the ME2 save editor.

I did this recently since I don't mind replaying 2, but sitting thru those goddamn elevators again is just painful.

Nothing sucks more than the elevator to the cargo bay of the Normandy.

Just close the doors and go get a snack or something, you've got plenty of time

I'm either going to do that, or I'm gonna finish my new game + from three years ago on my Xbox ME1 and convert it to PC online because I recently found out there's a site that can do that.

Anyone know if BW points ever go on sale like XBL points do? I heard the DLC went on sale on black friday, but I'm not dropping $20 on points so I can spend $15 of it on overpriced dlc... Free multi dlc ftw!

The PS3 port is pretty well done, the only new issue that rose up was sometimes audio can be cut during a talking scene. I've only had this happen for 2 lines in 19 hours of play. The texture pop ins are much much much much lower than the 360 version and the lightning is much better, shadows look funky though since they weren't improved. Framerate stability is better too, but not perfect. The last part of the noveria labs gave me a few frame dips.

I kinda like the Mako, cannon does its job against bullshit 1 shot snipers. I always exit it before combat and deal with enemies on foot since its much funner. I've taken out 3 threasher maws on foot and i'm loving it .

And much more XP that way. While there were some flaws with the Mako, I liked the free planet exploration. Especially missions where you had to assault a base with guards on the outside, so you could snipe from a mountain away.

ffs I have been playing multi for at least a dozen hours now in the past week (mostly on gold) and I still don't have a picture next to my name in lobbies...

What is the easiest one to get? I play /random all so I've been getting map/enemy achievs slowly and you seem to need to master every weapon of a slot to get that... The bugs are starting to get to me again and I'm tired of looking like a nub in lobbies even with my n7 1200+ score.
