title / banner means pretty much nothing, but the weapon ones are fairly easy. Pick a weapon group, cycle through the required number of weapons in that group, set title, voila. Kill two birds with one stone and two Assault Rifles to get the weekend challenge out of the way too.

It says on each one how many you need to complete to get the banner. Usually it's 8-9. Whenever you complete a challenge, it should pop up saying something like "Assault Rifle Mastery 3/9" or something to that effect.

You can also check progress at http://n7hq.masseffect.com by logging in with your Origin ID, if you're on PC. Not sure how you go about linking PSN/XBL accounts to it

Ahh, I get it now. Gonna take months to even put a dent into all of them. Played today with a guy had over 20k trophy points playing soldier that he leveld up 84 times already and he was still working on all the achievs... I'm promoting and trying to level the garbage guns and classes on bronze, another reason it's taking forever to get a pic (I don't focus on one thing until it's done)>>

Just so you know, promotions was one of the few things that was recorded before they introduced the challenge system, so it's not a great judge of challenge progress. Further, challenges can be repeated so that guy likely has started the assault rifle mastery achievement over. I'd say roughly speaking clearing one weapon challenge takes about 5-10 silver matches depending on how effective the weapon is, how good you are, and how good teammates are. It can be done quicker if you're on gold and the weapon isn't garbage. You only need to do 9 out of the 15-16 weapons available as well.

so i just came back to try multiplayer after 6+ months away whats the best way to get decent weapons and upgrades?

edit: as in what chests would be better to go for first given i need a lot of weapons and upgrades

I did the same thing starting last week. Premium spector packs have given me up to 2 n7 weapons in one pack. That's all I've been buying.

If you don't have all common (blue) and uncommon (silver) characters / weapons / mods at ten... don't buy premium spectre packs. You can clear out all the little stuff for much, much cheaper buying the 20k cred packs first.

Yeah I would knock out your grey uncommon weapons and mods first by getting Veteran Packs. This should build up your medi-gel stocks fairly well too. For some reason the grey perma kits aren't guaranteed in Veterans packs, so once you have your standard weapon mods just jump up to Premium Spectre packs.

Finally got a Harrier. Tried it out and was pretty mad at burst fire and kind of weak like an smg. Then, about 40k points in, I realize I'm using my smg offhand that I only use after I hit the cheevo on my main weapon... the thing tears apart heavies even at level one on gold. Hopefully it gets better ammo capacity at higher levels.

I was going to say Dryr wtf Harrier are you using lol? Main problem with it is ammo capacity. So long as you're near a crate you're golden. It's fantastic for farming Firebase Rio Platinum runs where you're basically hiding in the shipping container right next to a constant ammo supply.

Is Asari Adept still good for combos? Havent played multi in fucking ages

They still work. There's an n7 adept that works even better now using an instant hit new version of warp and then throw for the same combo plus, they can dodge through walls. Last I tried asari, I noticed enemies dodge powers better than ever so getting the guaranteed base for the combo is probably better.

Just tried and won my first plat. Still using my lvl 1 Harrier and took first in points by over 50k...

Kind of shocking going in fresh. Wave 1 is like wave 8 or 9 on gold, then it starts to get crazy with all the factions working together. How does that fit into the campaign story?

Plat was added later on for increased difficulty, I don't think it has any sort of campaign tie-in to explain the mixture of forces.

New hazard maps available this week are Firebase White and Firebase Glacier

Tactical Cloak (Asari Infiltrator only)
- Note: the Asari Tactical Cloak damage bonus only applies to powers and melees
- Base damage bonus increased from 40% to 60%
- Evolution 2 damage bonus increased from 40% to 60%
- Evolution 6 power damage bonus increased from 25% to 40%

Quarian Defender Passive Power (Male Quarian Soldier only)
- Base weapon damage bonus increased from 2.5% to 7.5%
- Evolution 6 weapon damage bonus increased from 10% to 12.5%

Vorcha Hunter Engineer
- Starting encumbrance capacity increased from 30% to 40%

Operation: ALAMO (Dec 14th-16th)

Event Description: The Reapers are taking advantage of our forces being spread thin and are making a push for Menae. Alliance Intelligence predicts that the Reapers are luring us into committing large-scale defenses to the moon that they will wipe out. Our counter-strategy is to insert small, stealthy units to conduct disruptive offensives and hold the firebase during their hopefully weakened attacks.

Team Goal: Earn the “Survived 5 Waves” medal on the Firebase Condor map at any difficulty. Extraction not required.

Reward: Commendation Pack

Bronze solo condor and die on wave 6 I suppose. Really crappy challenge.
