I liked Leviathan better than Omega but loved both. I liked Overlord for ME2 as well but was severely disappointed that it was barely referenced in ME3. Firewalker pretty much a complete waste of money unless you're a rabid, borderline-obsessive completionist fan like me, although flying around in the hammerhead is pretty fun. Only expansion I never got was Pinnacle Station.

pinnacle wasn't bad but it didnt really add anything to the story iirc. it was basically the precursor to ME3's multiplayer. also you got a bitchin bachelor pad. Bring Down the Sky was cool. It actually gets mentioned and iirc you meet a side character because of it in later games.

i agree about firewalker. if you dont already have it, its not worth getting. if you already have it, play through it just for shits and giggles and to be a completionist. the new vehicle is fun (don't get shot or land too roughly, its no Mako) but the story is fairly forgettable. i know because i cant remember what the story is. i remember it not being very long. the extra characters are a must, and i really liked the normandy crash site. overlord was fun but hardly got mentioned afterwards. shadow broker and arrival are pretty important to the story, so you should definitely play those.

From Ashes is worth getting imo, as is Extended Cut of course. Leviathan was pretty decent. Not super amazing, but interesting. I haven't played Omega or Citadel yet.

IIrc you can come across the wreckage of Pinnacle Station in ME3. But mostly for added fun and some of the best gear. Bring down the Sky is a must imo, really fun addition and some minor influence in ME3.

By the time I got into the ME series, ME2 came with Firewalker and Overlord. Firewalker was rather tedious imo, but Overlord was great. I thought it was another good insight to how Cerberus functions and how some satellite branches do things to try and please TIM. There is a blip about Overlord during the mission with Jack.

As for ME3, I only bothered with Citadel. I couldn't get myself to care about the other stuff, perhaps if it goes on sale for cheap someday.

Also, I still play Multiplayer pretty regularly (PC) name Gunnm33. I run mostly Gold but don't mind other stuff. Just play for fun.

Yeah, I've played the fuck out of all the 2 ones, I fell enough in love with 2 when I first played it that I the only dlc I don't have for it is the miranda+2 guys outfit thingy lol.

I'm doing a full 1-3, paragon as fuck, femshep infiltrator, super completionist playthrough atm. I was actually going to do it on insanity but 1 gets you stuck with saves at 5 minute cutscenes with hard combat immediately after and no save in between, and then 2 I had forgotten how sniper builds don't work on insanity cuz you spend 90% of your time trying to pick up ammo. It is kinda depressing just how stupidly easy it all is on the 2nd toughest setting, though.

Prob gonna do a non-completionist playthrough of them all on insanity as a super renegade male shep engineer or something next.

I'm trying to convince myself to do all of the firewalker and overlord ones again on this playthrough but god the firewalker are fucking boring.

I must say, as frustrating as the item limit, gear, and leveling could be in 1, it definitely had some high points that I really miss playing 2 and 3 again now. The ammo system for 1 was fucking awesome, really wish they would have kept it. Partly because of how completely fucking shit they made sniper rifles with a full clip pickup only giving you 1 round. More though because I really like the idea of... "Ok I need 1 more shot to finish this guy, if I take it I'm going to overheat..." and having that decision to make is much more interesting than standing there reloading and having to debate on if you wanna waste the ammo or just sit there and wait for incinerate to come back up.

While I didn't like the weapon leveling in 1 so much, I did prefer how it created a "spend 1 point at a time for slight improvement" deal as opposed to 2/3's "sit on a bunch of points until you get enough for what you want" thing.

gonna double post cuz I figure most people went "cool story bro" and stopped reading this one a while ago and I got some multiplayer questions lol

    So, about multiplayer:

At the time I quit Gold was hard. We didn't do it without level 20 dudes, and you pretty much didn't do it without 2-3 of your guys having clones/drones (which only 2-3 chars had at the time). I was pretty much always on my Quarian infiltrator or my Salarian... engineer I think? the one with the clone lol. Anyway, I did pretty damn well back then in gold with my mantis X or occasionally widow I , and my geth shotgun on the infiltrator. The SMG I have (whatever X, the first one) was pretty shit but it got the job done in emergencies...

So my first big question is... did they buff mob hp and stuff? On silver now I feel like I'm swinging wet noodles no matter what gun I use. A mantis X headshot with stealth buff on silver is like... not even enough to break the shield fully.

Secondly, how should I be approaching gearing now? I remember around when I quit it was buy 5k pack til you max everything, then buy veteran til you max everything, before you ever start messing with spectre packs. I was partway through veteran lol, should I still be clearing all that shit out?

Finally, any advice on what's good these days? I got one of the geth with hunter mode (soldier version I think), can't really handle those visuals. Same shit with Rage melee guys, never liked that much cuz I just can't see shit.

I really liked how noticeable the improvements were in ME1. Starting with the terrible shaky aim with a sniper rifle that slowly gets better as you put points into it. The only really bad thing about 1 was the tedious inventory.

They have been doing constant buffs and debuffs for different mobs and weapons on MP since they released it, but I haven't played in probably 5 months so I'm not really up to date either. There are a TON of added classes now.

Yeah it's hilarious I don't think any class had enough races to actually scroll over when I left lol.

It got to the point where I was playing a decent amount and they were still adding classes faster than I could unlock and try them out.

I'm finding the difference between hosting my games and joining someone else's is night and day. I mentioned a while back I was having trouble handling Slayer, I'm having all sorts of fun with it now when I start the games myself. It's still one of the more fragile classes but my survivability drastically improves when I'm hosting the game. To bad bioware/ea never smoothed that out.

I'll give that a go, I am dying more than I used to but I mostly attribute it to not knowing wtf I'm doing anymore lol.

So, is the buy all the packs in order til you max thing still how you gotta do shit?

What I did was 5k packs until I maxed all the starter guns, then a few Veteran packs as I moved on to Silver, but I probably got less than 10 or 15 before I started doing Premium Spectre Packs only and moved into Gold shortly after. Don't get the normal Spectre Packs, because the PSPs are better value.

I'm still pretty much a noob, but here are some of my thoughts:

I found the Turian Sentinel pretty easy to play. Maxed Tech armor gives you good damage reduction, and the guy has a very good Shields. Overload has no travel time, so it's very easy to use and will stagger most enemies. Most of your damage will come from your weapon (a single AR for me).

The two Asari Adepts are pretty fun to use, but they can't take much damage. As long as you can zoom around and not get hit, they're great. Stasis does wonders on Nemesis and Phantoms. Most of your damage will be from biotic explosions (use a light pistol for 150%+ recharge bonus).

Human Vanguards are insanely easy to play at Silver, since you can Charge and then double Nova (invincible during their animations). Only problem is that the strategy doesn't carry over easily into Gold, so you'll need to adjust play style once you get there.

Man I haven't played multi player on ME3 in a while. Looking to get back into it. Was doing Gold and Platinum runs only when i left. Anyone here still playing on PS3?
On gold i mostly used N7 paladin or Quarian Infiltrator. Platinum was always Geth Infiltrator or Asari Justicar.

geth juggernaut is crazy. my single favorite class to have in a group with me, although i don't like playing it myself.

my favorite classes are the human infiltrator and the n7 slayer. also play n7 shadow and n7 paladin now and then.

just logged in for the first time in 5 months. I had 1.5mil saved apparently, plus a couple of free gift packs wating for me. I got a bunch of new classes and guns to try, none have worked well on silver tests. The new merc with mines is like a glitchy god. Sometimes, the trip mines can drop a heavy, sometimes they never go off...

Gonna get back to my turian stim pack/cerb harrier combo and see if it still works. Otherwise, I'll try the juggernaught.

Pretty much this. For real shits and giggles run with 3 other Juggernauts and just watch the Banshees kill themselves out of fear.

juggernaut doesn't have hunter mode. it's about as much a "tank" class as you can get.

seriously killing banshees, phantoms, primes, praetorians, and scions become exponentially easier if you have a juggernaut in your group.

What I noticed was that visually, their laser doesn't extend indefinitely. So if you plant it on, say, the right wall and have the laser extend horizontally towards the left, if they hug the left wall, it's possible they won't trigger it.

Drop a shield in front of your teammates to protect them. Then just use your heavy melee nonstop on the heavy enemies. Shit won't even touch you.
