I do think the paladin is the best handgun though.
Damage wise yeah the claymore won't be beat, but what about other stats like weight/capacity.

Having only 1 round on the claymore sucks, does the spectre one outclass it in that aspect?

I didn't even finish my thought lol. The specter one has 2 shots in a clip or whatever, but its accuracy is just like claymore's. I like graal spike thrower the most because of its pretty sick accuracy, 3 rounds in chamber, and still high damage(higher than the specter one)

Although I just looked and geth plasma shotgun sort of rapes everything. 5 rounds in clip, decent acc, and second highest damage shotgun I've got besides claymore.

After having an additional day to mull it over, I'm trying to put into words my utter disappointment with the ending. Spoilers, obviously, and a Bioware forums level rage below.
    Spoiler: show

I think the thing that bothers me the most about the ending, is that no matter what you choose, your crew is stranded on some far flung planet and all the mass relays are destroyed. It also bothers me how Shepard dies in all of them. I was prepared for endings where Shepard dies. I get it, sometimes sacrifices have to be made to save everyone. But he's dead in all of them? Oh, so there is one where he *kinda* lives? Ok...except as I said earlier, your best friends on your crew are now somewhere on jungle planet X, you'll never see them again, and everyone that YOU made BELIEVE in your cause to come help you is now either dead from the battle or stuck in your system. BILLIONS of people from different species stuck in one system, with one habitable planet with now very limited resources. And that happens in all of the endings! This is the reward for everything you've done in the past three games? I loved ME1. I loved ME2. I loved ME3 until the last 5 minutes. Those last 5 minutes have just about ruined the entire series for me. With ME1 and ME2 I immediately started a second playthrough to make new choices, and going along with ME3 I was already planning ahead for what choices I would pick on the next run, but now? Fuck that. If those bullshit endings are all I have to look forward to, what is the point? Would it be so bad for there to be endings where the relays and Citadel *don't* blow up and people get to go home happy? I mean, Jesus fuck, I just gave the quarians back their homeland and now they are all stuck here? I just had to kill all the geth that I just made sentient beings? I doomed every turian and quarian that came to fight for me to die of starvation (because of their dextro-amino needs)? I cured the motherfucking genophage for all the krogan, but now none of these badasses get to go home and make babies? Oh, and your best friends and love interest back on the Normandy are now who the hell knows where, never to see you again (even if you lived). Fuck. That. Shit.

I read someone defending this bullshit with the line of "Its about the journey, not the destination." Well to that I say bullshit. The destination is pretty goddamn important. The journey can be all kinds of awesome but if the destination is shit, would you even want to make the journey in the first place?

An analogy. Your friend invites you to go on a road trip with him. You've had some pretty damn good road trips with this friend before, so of course you immediately agree for another adventure. Then he tells you the trip is actually going to be a year and a half later. Well, thats ok, because the last two trips were awesome and he keeps telling you that this one is gonna make those other ones seem lame in comparison. So you patiently wait a year and a half, and then it gets to two weeks before the trip, and your friend calls you every other day to pump you up about the trip. Finally the day arrives, you and your friend set off on this trip. Admittedly you are having a great time along the way. You are eagerly thinking this is the best trip by far. Then, your friend lets you know that you have almost reached your destination. You still don't know where you are going, but your friend keeps assuring you that EVERYTHING has been built up to this, and you've finally arrived!

So you step out of the car, and then your friend proceeds to kicks you square in the balls as hard as he can.

So despite you having a blast on that trip and other trips before? Would you want to take that trip looking back, knowing you were gonna take a swift kick in the junk? Would you ever want to go on more trips with that friend now that your balls have retreated into your pelvis? Hell no you wouldn't, and that is exactly what I feel has been done here.

But at least multiplayer is still pretty fun.

What disappoints me the most is...

    Spoiler: show
Was hoping for more of an actual showdown with the Reapers. What happened to Harbinger? I wanted some face time and be able to fight him :/

Also didn't find out about what happened to anyone aside from your crew landing on a new planet with all the mass relays destroyed. wtf.

It's not even that I'm unhappy with what happened. The ending was just poorly done. They seemed to have rushed it and didn't really provide closure to most of the characters that we've spent the last 5 years getting to know. It's one of those "Thats it?" moments and that has left me with a sour taste. Which sucks because getting to that point I was super excited playing through the whole game.

1 day later, still collecting thoughts on ending
    Spoiler: show
Double warning: I go deep into the ending
    Spoiler: show
Some bold moves Bioware. So myself like everybody else apparently wanted and was expecting a happy rainbows sunshine ending and if Shepard had to sacrifice himself to make that happen then some people were ok with that. I see rage everywhere but I have to wonder how much of that is because people were expecting different or people legitimately didn't like how the endings happened. This pretty much got me thinking on how bland and boring storytelling is in today's day and age. If every story ended with a predictable happy ending then thats not very interesting at all. And a lot of stories do. Movies have the guy get the girl, conflict resolved in favor of the protagonist etc etc YAWN! I don't think its good if somebody can make a general prediction on the end of a story and be right about it. To me that would indicate a boring and predictable conclusion.

I would be disappointed more if Mass Effect gave us that same generic closure that everybody is used to and comfortable with, especially since this is a genre where story is important. I think its great that they were able to wrap up the lingering questions with the initial discussion with the catalyst. The catalyst by the way, isn't a little dead boy. It was pretty obvious that the catalyst manifested itself into an avatar that Shepard had some connection with, in this case, the little boy the was that form. That same little boy served as the physical metaphor for Shepard's hopelessness in saving the galaxy from destruction, and is why Shepard kept having nightmares about it. These are all storytelling techniques that I haven't seen in a video game since some of the Final Fantasy games, and I honor Bioware for going the extra length to use these methods.

On the endings themselves, I'll need to wait until all of them make their way to youtube. I've seen one that was a worse version of the renegade option described here(maybe? doing lots of reading today) where it basically looked like a Halo ring firing with everybody on Earth dying; not just synthetics. Renegade makes sense because there aren't any Reapers to end the suffering of war once synthetics are recreated, basically ensuring that synthetics will rule and any life will be at most, pets for synthetics. Neutral ending makes sense as to why its neutral; Synthesis can be argued as being a blessing and a curse. The paragon ending is the one that has the most questions, since I've no idea what purpose the Reapers would server in that world.

Even if none of the endings are what people would have liked to see happen, I think its great that Bioware went with the three choices as an ending theme; it kinda fits what Mass Effect did as a series. I can totally see why people didn't like the endings, but I'm pleased myself with how they handled it. Its a bittersweet ending, no matter what you choose, and I loved it. The final goodbyes before the final mission, combined with the flashbacks once you made your choice damn near got my teary eyed. Well done Bioware.

Admittedly hard to fire up again for another round. Its like finishing a good book. This was a concern of mine going into ME3, not spawned after I finished it.

Ridiculous straw-man. Almost as bad as the DMC "you just don't like his hair!" people.

To me it's not even the fact that it's not an all sunshine and rainbow ending. To me the fucking problem is

    Spoiler: show
that they put absolutely nothing into the ending. The 3 major differences are all rehashes of the same scene using different colors and minor changes. I was waiting for some sort of an epilogue showing all the characters I've come to know over the years and at least get a line or two about what happened to them. None of that happened. I could live with the fucked up ending, even if I don't like it, as long as I got some closure on everyone. Which didn't happen.

Also, like I said. I wanted more reapers. I wanted a faceoff with Harbinger, who didn't even get ONE fucking line in this game. I wanted a bit more story about the reapers. All of that anticipated since the first game and then not delivered on.

I am disappointed in lack of Harbinger stand off. they kinda built that up in ME2 and never really did anything with it. To be fair I think the Illusive man makes a much more personal and reasonable villain to work with. Harbinger is large and skyscrapery, while you can fit the Illusive man into the same room as Shepard. I'm not defending their decision, but I don't think there was any feasible way to do a realistic encounter with Harbinger doing anything more than him shooting a laser in your face like he did at the end there. The Illusive man was a damn good villain though.

Regarding the crew; talking to all of them at the holoterminal at the end there was pretty fantastic. Anything more than that would endanger the quality and meaningfulness of the special moment of the goodbyes, especially since you're expecting the ending to be a galactic annihilation anyway. Having that in mind during those conversations enhanced them for me

    Spoiler: show
I would've settled for a mission that led the team INSIDE harbinger since I understand he's too big to have a real standoff with. Inside you could've faced his avatar or something. Kinda the same way as Jecht and Sin in FFX.

And I don't think an epilogue explaining what happened to the characters would've ruined Shepards little goodbyes to them at the end.

It says it in the pic how you get to see it. It depends on your choices with the Geth I guess.

    Ending stuffs:

    Spoiler: show
I would've been 100% fine if the game ended when Anderson and Shepard are laying there dying. The Crucible could have done something to destroy the reapers, we get the whole thing about Anderson wanting to rest and being proud of Shepard, Shepard says something to Anderson and they both die looking at the Saved Earth. Maybe add in a bit of exposition about why the Reapers did what they did... like Liara or someone finds a cache of intelligence from a previous civilization that explains why the Reapers show up. They had to start during one of the cycles, right?

Also... where the FUCK was Joker going that had him in FTL travel during the Mass Relay explosion? Last I checked, the Normandy was in the Sword fleet fighting off the Reapers near Earth. Also, how was my entire crew on the Normandy? I had Garrus and Liara with me when I got shot the fuck up by that laser and I assumed they had died along with everybody else. Apparently not!

I really felt like the ending was pieced together based off of fans being pissy about the "leaked" script a few months ago.

^ Agree, that would've been a great way to pull off a bleak ending.

The Geth tron-like world is pretty cool looking.

    So..
    Spoiler: show
Max Rep, 20 hrs in, trying to do every sidequest that I can. Is the reaper base on Rannoch the midway point? Or the 75% part?

And what's the last mission before the point of no return mission?

Rannoch is about 3/4 of the way, I'd say. The point of no return is when you go fuck up the Cerberus Homebase.

    Best Endings in a nutshell

    Spoiler: show
Renegade, You saved your cycle but one day synthetics will inevitable rule the universe, quality writing right there.

Neutral, Joker and EDI will have part organic and synthetic babies to make the future master race, full retard ending.

Paragon, What was the point of all this shit?

    Shit I hated.
    Spoiler: show
-Didn't ever see kasumi or the indoctrinated hanar, apparently I activated a glitch that locked me out of it.
    -Didn't see kelly either.
-Didn't have the insane amount of reputation to save legion and quarian on rannoch, SO FUCKING MAD.
-Couldn't do the 4th paragon or renegade option for the final chat with illusive man with full reputation and like 95% paragon. WHAT THE FUCK.
    -Couldn't kill jacob
-Salarians don't do shit, can't even contribute husk.
-The final boss is 3 husk and a Maurader.
    -That fucking kid.
-No mission to help Aria take back omega. Even worse I bet it will be DLC or some shit.
-Alliance characters are so fucking boring, completely zoned out whenever that major beret person started talking.

Don't think i'm going to bother with my ME2 imports for now. The multi is fun though since its all combat, I hope they expand it. Really though I hope they just abandon the story elements now or something, After DA2 this company has really gone downhill in that department. Its painful thinking what they will try to do to the ME series after this now.
