It's kinda hard to ignore the evidence on display here, like the one choice that kills the Reapers doesn't kill Shepard....Shepard being alive in rubble, like on Earth, and not on the Citadel, etc.

Er... what? The game is straight up lying to you, according to this ending, by having the entire thing not be the truth. We don't know what really happened. I imagine Bioware's going to come along with some DLC that shores up the whole, "It was never real!" thing, but it still makes it bad writing. Do you remember how mad people were at the end of... that one TV drama that was all just a dream? (The name escapes me at the moment. It was a medical drama.) Yeah. Nobody likes that.

I can't tell you why Shepard was "alive" in the rubble on Earth. I can't tell you why killing the Reapers doesn't kill Shepard. Do you know why? Because it's poorly written and never explained. Nobody can explain these things except the writers. The fans certainly are attempting, and I imagine they're giving the writers a TON of ideas for that $14.99 True Ending DLC. Thanks for that, fans.

Never happened. The crew crashing is just part of the hallucination to comfort Shepard with knowledge that his crew is in some happy, beautiful place. What gets me is that places like that are always inhabited with either giant plant monsters or dangerous natives who subdue said plant monsters. Its like fantasy 101.
    Spoiler: show
Any evidence to back that up? I know I certainly would not be comforted by a vision like that. Yay, my best friends in the entire galaxy are stranded from all of their loved ones! Wooo!

Never said it was the right way to portray that. Kinda like the rest of the ending, Bioware had no idea how to wrap the game up.

I find it very hard to believe that at the last second Bioware just said "FUCK IT" and released this horseshit. The rest of Mass Effect 3's story elements aren't anywhere up here. It flows perfectly from the beginning up to the point where Shepard rides the space elevator. It just doesn't add up, not when so many fans can come up with better ending scenarios in a whole 5 minutes of thinking.

Uh....you've got it backwards. How can we be giving Bioware ideas when we're pointing out the obvious story angle they're going for? Whether or not you agree with what they did, or the story, is another topic.

As far as the "real end" DLC, if it's free what's the problem? If they wanted to give players a mindfuck ending like we're suggesting there is no other way to do this. If they even hinted at this in any way the files would be sniffed out in an hour.

If they charge for it that's another story.

If they explain what happened via DLC I don't see how this is bad writing. It's kinda hard to judge the story if we don't have the ending. If this is the actual ending, I agree it's horrific writing. And you can't compare this to "St. Elsewhere". TV shows typically don't have a medium that extends their life, like DLC. That show was over, it was done. Bioware said they would continue to release DLC for this game 6 months ago, before it even came out. DLC after the game ends is the norm nowadays.

Why is everyone raging over True Ending DLC free or otherwise when no one from Bioware has even confirmed such a thing? It was something I merely brought up earlier in the thread as a joke @_@

On a side note it's kinda odd that people are complaining about the possibility of Bioware continuing the story via paid DLC when Valve took what should've been "HL3", broke it into 3 "Episodes", charged us for it, and is taking damn near a decade to finish it. This is especially ironic considering their logic for breaking the game up would be so they finish it faster.

I can't take credit for this one but...

    Spoiler: show
Why was Joker and the crew flying away at the end of the game?

    Spoiler: show
They were trying to escape the endings.

Its been a hot button topic since before the game came out. Alot of people are displeased with the ending and they want a better alternative

This "it was all a dream" theory reminds me of those people who think Squall was dead the whole time, or Ash has been in a coma the whole time in the pokemon series. It seems obvious that they changed the ending at the last second when the script was leaked and will probably add more ending shit as dlc to try and fix their shitty rushed ending.

You know, this game has been a flaming ball of controversy since the very moment they announced multiplayer (which, ironically, turned out to be a good thing, except for the issue over galactic readyness). Now, i am somewhat amused at the people who are displeased with the ending but were mad at other people complaining about the dlc. At the same time, i am currently enjoying the game quite a lot, but i am dreading reaching the ending now though. I don't think i could be any more angry at bioware/EA than i already am. Plus these bugs, jesus.

    Ending

    Spoiler: show
was shit. Mental gymnastics are just that, mental gymnastics. People are spending way too much time trying to rationalize it. It's just a shitty ending. It's really nothing new for Bioware either. They can put together some fucking awesome stories, but they don't seem to have a solid grasp of how to wrap them up. I'm just going to pretend that the game ended when Anderson and Shepard are looking out at Earth, and Hackett never makes that call.

I'm not gonna bother making a post about how I didn't like the ending, so instead I'm going to complain about the annoying menus when I'm trying to buy upgrades for weapons. Why the hell does the cursor go right back to the top of the list after I make a purchase? Why do they not let you scroll through the list faster via, I dunno, left and right on the d-pad or something? Why can't I hit up and have it bring me to the bottom of the list? So in summation, the list scrolling sucks.

The ending from the leaked script is more or less the same. I don't remember the specifics of the 3 choices being offered, but Starkid, etc. was in there already.

The thing is, this isn't the end. They announced DLC for this months ago. And given how things played out, it's virtually impossible to continue the game, or hell, the series at all, if things are taken at face value. No Mass Relays? No Synthetics? No Citadel? Millions of aliens stranded on Earth?

So it's not really mental gymnastics. It's kinda obvious something is up with the ending unless you think Bioware/EA purposely killed off the franchise at the height of it's popularity.

Finished the game, gameplay and story was fantastic. Ending was meh. Dropped the ball after having such a great narrative. But that asides did anyone else feel that this one was shorter then the second one? I'm sure there will be plenty of DLC but fuck that.

Multiplayer is better then I expected. Finding it quite enjoyable. How do I unlock new characters, just keep leveling up?
