Eh debatable. He did some sloppy shit this season for sure, but he's done sloppy shit in previous seasons. I don't think the DVD thing was sloppy in a way that could have got him caught so it didn't really register to me as something to focus on.

All in all I've never had problem with plot holes in Dexter. It does a fairly good job of dealing with shit so I'm happy with it.

There are zero TV shows about police or crime that are remotely close to showing how police actually work. I think Showtime needs to find more viewers that know how fictional work is actually carried out.

Why does it look at all like it's his doing? He had some unrelated blood on his shoe and there was some equipment there. There may have been some shady stuff going on for sure but it doesnt look like it's his fault. Why would he leave behind evidence checked out to him in his name if he killed him?

Quinn was known to have been talking to this guy
There are no other leads

These together don't mean as much as they would separately.

I don't know how serious lending out surveillance equipment is, but having done something wrong could explain why he wanted a lawyer.

But yeah, that really bothered me as well. Even if there wasn't any real evidence, clearing him because some random blood that could have come from someone else he killed didn't match liddy is a bit lol.

They didnt CLEAR him as a suspect you dolts, it merely means that there's no direct evidence to suggest that he killed the guy you faggots. He could very well (probably WILL BE) implicated in the next season. Just because he's not arrested doesnt mean they dont suspect him at all.
