At least the former doesn't get you accidentally dumped in a recycle machine at the nearest supermarket for 5 cents.

You have Kuja in both your sig and avatar, you cannot be impartial on this matter as you have a clear bias towards men with vaginae.

I believe the answer is neither, just let Yoshi handle everything.

Tbh, I'd like to see what kind of crazy art style they could come up with with Amano as the art director for one game. I think they only used him for the 2d games sadly.

What comes after Final Fantasy IV but before Final Fantasy IV The After Years? This week's Famitsu reveals the answer to be "Final Fantasy IV Interlude."

Interlude is the name of the new scenario Square Enix has been promising for the PSP compilation of FFIV and its sequel The After Years. The newly written episode bridges the gap between the two volumes. Players are put in control of main character Cecil in a scenario that was supervised by Takashi Tokida.

In brief comments shared with Famitsu, Tokida revealed the time frame of the Interlude chapter. It takes place some years after the end of FFIV. The scenario begins as the heroes have gathered at Damcyan Castle for a ceremony marking the castle's recovery.

Tokida also shared some general comments about the compilation as a whole. Points of note include the renewed high resolution visuals, and the gallery mode that includes illustrations and movies related to FFIV. He also noted that players can switch between original and arranged version music.

SE gets to keep taking my money for the next few months due to good releases (Dissidia in March, followed by this in April). Just beat ffiv for the ds and now I am even more amped for this to come out. Especially considering I never really played The After Years but am definitely interested.

after all these years, i never thought i'd ever say that i'm growing tired tetsuya nomura, but all the final fantasies in the last couple years besides 12 look exactly the same lol. sometimes change can be a good thing. what i loved about yoshi was the settings and moods he set for all of his art. he was incredibly versatile and his paintings and oils were bleeding of enthusiasm and skill. nomura's designs look mundane after awhile. look on the cover of bouncer for PS2 and tell me those guys couldnt have been in the new FF13 game.

but regardless, they both still make amazing art concepts and designs and im def looking forward to this. ff4 was my 2nd fav FF of all time, so of course this is high on my priority list

Every new trailer does get me more pumped for this game, but they need to announce the limited edition for US already. Also, not sure if I saw it in news posted here yet, but I did read that there will be a toggle for remixed music and classic FF4 music. Looks like they finally are doing something I've wanted in these remakes for ages.

New Scenario/Interlude is around 15 hours long
    http://www.siliconera.com/2011/03/04...15-hours-long/

I got a sneak peek at Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection yesterday, which included a tiny bit of the "Interlude." This new storyline takes place one year after the events in Final Fantasy IV and connects the original game with Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.

Cid and Cecil race in their airships from Baron to the restored Damcyan Castle. Instead of corpses, the party is greeted with living guards. Palom, Porom, and Yang are already waiting in the throne room where Edward makes a speech.

Cecil and Rosa start out around level 30 in the Interlude. Enemies are said to be on par with the later episodes of The After Years. While combat was revised for the sequel, Final Fantasy IV’s Interlude is based on the Super Nintendo version. That means no new abilities or Band system.

The "Interlude" is longer than the average episode in The After Years. According to Square Enix, the new scenario is about 15 hours long.

Now is that 15hrs of typical RPG gameplay, or 15hrs of After Years-style mob-encounters-every-two-steps & grind-grind-grind-grind-grind? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
(I really do hope they adjusted After Years from being episodic, into a single cohesive package with better pacing with the noted peeves above)

Just hope there's an excuse to add new locations in Interlude as was seldomly done in After Years, as backtracking through a lot of FF4's locations in a different scenario kills a bit of the fun factor for me.

    Few more tidbits

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection has includes three games: Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, and a brand new Interlude episode. Through the main menu, players can choose any storyline to play as soon as they unwrap the PSP game.

So, you can start in the middle with the Interlude, try out The After Years, and then go back to the beginning of the Final Fantasy IV saga. The only exception is you must complete the first episode of The After Years to open the other episodes, which can be played in any order.

The options menu also lets players choose between the original music and rearranged soundtrack. You can also select the game’s language from English, French or Japanese. The English translation is based on the Game Boy Advance version. Extra event scenes made for the Nintendo DS remake are not included in the game. This game does not have the augment system, which was made for Final Fantasy IV on the DS, either.

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection uses unedited art based on the Japanese version, which means some enemies have slightly different sprites. The game has an art gallery with character and enemy art to unlock. While some of the pictures will be familiar to fans, Square Enix said there is some new artwork to see in The Complete Collection.

I pre-ordered on Saturday, but I want my damn special edition. As far as I know, it's not coming out here in NA.
