Shit is really snappy for me, I did the data install tho.
Shit is really snappy for me, I did the data install tho.
I didn't use data load and it seems fine to me, never noticed any loading times.
thanks for the replies, I'll give it a try tonight with the data install![]()
UMD will always be slower than memory stick by virtue of reading data off an optical disc instead of through like flash memory.
I did a Data Install and the only time I find load times is when going in to save my game or load my game. Otherwise it's seems pretty seamless.
ya, tried it out last night. Pretty much same experience as Vandalhart. Never even noticed the umd spinning up after doing the data install.
On a similar note, something I've been wondering. With the advances in flash memory (smaller, cheaper) and given it's main advantages over optical (read time, durability, internal memory) will there come a point where it's worth it to shift back to flash memory as the standard?
Hypothetically, how much would it cost to sell a blu-ray movie on a solid state memory format? (SD card/USB stick/etc) I know blu-ray discs are 25/50GB but how often is much/all of that memory used? How much would a like amount of read-only flash memory cost to mass-produce? (assuming ideal manufacturing conditions)
A question better posed in the tech forum.
Prolly yea, was just thinking out loud really.
Anyone got advice for the boss battles in the lunarian chapter?
Spoiler: show
Just like every boss battle, Protect, Shell, Haste and Slow are your friends.
I read somewhere that Slow stacks twice (both single and multi-target casting) and Protect/Shell stack up to 4 times (8 if you multi-target them), so have Fusoya spam them while Golbez spams Taunt from the back row. Heal with Hi-potions and X-potions when necessary.
Once you're done buffing, have Fusoya spam Flare and Golbez spam tier 3 nukes/Bio on MG.
This strategy works for just about every boss in the game, unless it happens to have some sort of gimmick.
Didn't know about the buff stacking for FFIV, will have to try that out as you could do it in FF1/2, and you were laughing at that point.
Granted, FF2 been pissing me off with the SoR chapter though, all my dudes are geared for melee damage, and a lot of the mobs are highly resistant to that, so I've wasted 3 hours just grinding spells hoping for MP/Wisdom/Intelligence level-ups so I can nuke for more than 500dmg. >.>
definitely. Sony has already abandoned optical readers on its upcoming NGP. Data is either downloaded or accessed by proprietry flash memory cards.. so if you look forward to crossing over to that, Id suggest probably buying all your games on the PSN (when its up lol) instead of physical copies if you're not a collector because NGP wont be able to support backward compatibility for UMD without a disc reader
edit: Kaisha) curiously I never thought of offensive magic as ever being useful in FF2. I'd recommend leveling buffs like berserk just to have your melee attacks overwhelm the enemy.
about 1400 golbins to get the goblin summon drop (and then another 1 minute later ><). about 600 helldivers and still no cocktrice![]()
Cocktrice is more reliably farmed in the overworld outside of Eblan Castle. The Fledgling Rukh's drop it, and a group of 3 + 1 Rukh is a common encounter. Easily defeated with standard melee attacks on auto.
For After Years, was there any bonus dungeon or benefit for the final chapter if you do all the challenge dungeons from the other ones? Last chapter's difficulty pissing me off, and it's probably due to characters not being of proper level/gear, so I figured I'd kill time doing the challenge dungeons in each respective chapter to help that out.
thanks, maybe I'll just continue on with the story and try my luck there.
oh, does anybody know if I give the summons to young rydia if she'll still have them when she comes back?
A new better place to farm Cockatrice and Mindflayer summons, duing Rydia's trial, the summoner's can summon these two mob types. Find one, keep it alive, and slaughter the mob it summons repeatedly. Once you've done enough, kill it, and hope you get lucky lol
How much will data install help with music? Since I do notice sometimes when I enter a new area/battle the music takes a second or two to load after I regain control.
