Is he? Sounds more like he's afraid to see any concepts that another game uses mixed into XIV because it would "taint" the "purity" of the game.

I'm up for anything that improves the game. Some people would rather see XIV fail, or at least, "stay the course" (which would constitute and eventual failure) than try to learn from others.

Depends on your perception I guess. When "any" can become "every", I'd be worried too.

How do you know that its "every"? Where is your source? I'd like to see the lodestone announcement that said XIV will become World of Fantasycraft. I haven't seen it yet.

It is a literal impossibility for this game to become anything like WoW. Though, we'll see how close they make the PC-UI resemble the current standard of PC UI's among SE's competitors. I'm wondering if it'll look more like Rift's or more like AoC's, since AoC shares a vaguely similar (yet more advanced) battle system.

My fear is that they will try.

There is no source that they will, nor a source that they won't.

Also fuck you and your troll remarks.

Stay the course, Hyan. You should give them a pat on the back and tell them that.

Ok late but here are my examples. Before I say anything though I am fully aware they could come in the second patch and/or the wording is vague enough that arguments could be made that some of these have taken place.

The Addition of a feature allowing players to abandon local levequests
The implementation of main map markers to indicate the locations of local levequest clients
Adjustments to classes (I am expecting MUCH more than what little we have seen.)
    Adjustments to combat balance
The addition of a list that contains a player's eight most recently used recipes
The addition of a repair icon (Not sure exactly what this meant but it's not in nor mentioned in the notes.)
The addition of an item search feature (They make it sound like it will be in the next December patch. I am listing it because it was supposed to be in the original Mid-Dec patch. Not the "extra" patch which is a "shit we didn't finish in time" patch.)
Changes to how statuses are displayed
Adjustments to macro functionality (Don't know if this happened already. Vague wording.)
Changes to linkshell display (Not sure on this either. Again vague.)

My biggest issue is the anemic list of what's coming. Usually there's much more listed or maybe that's just what I have been used to from XI. I knew something was up when all they had been showing up til now were a few new NM's. Usually those are all done in one sweep.

I figure one of two things happened here: 1) The old dev team didn't have much of anything done and were canned midway through and the new team is putting out what was done and what they could finish now. 2) The old dev team got stuff done but when the new team came in they realized it was garbage and decided to push out a portion and rework the rest.

thanks for the list, I was thinking about looking up these items to see what they do. Their update is written very differently from earlier notes, so we'll have to see how it plays out. I'm surprised we haven't gotten a message from our new director yet, perhaps that will come after the update. The updates slowed down before the announcement of the changeover and it seems like the new updates are less involved.

option 3) the things on the new list are the only things they are 100% sure they'll have in tomorrow, with everything else currently being in the air. Unlike previously where they pushed back the date they aren't going to do that here, and they are too scared to promise more than they can deliver. Depending on how terrible their code is they could get a lot done in 48 hours, or practically nothing.

You do realize that what was released today is not the patch notes. They never give all the details of what is in the patch until you know, patch time. I would wait until servers go down and they release the official patch notes before getting upset. And this is one of two patches for this month.

Yes I realize that, and I know this is the first of two thus I said "Before I say anything though I am fully aware they could come in the second patch."

I'm not mad. Just disappointed by what I've seen so far.

I wasnt docking WoW or anything, it's not my cup of tea but more power to you if you want to play it. I was just stating that SE shouldn't compromise on everything.

Just as ZarakiKujata said, you are missing the point.. They never give full details until they take the server down and release the COMPLETE list of changes. Read the post again..

For a complete list of changes, please see the comprehensive details posted on the day of the version update.

So if I understand correctly what you mean is that you automatically get disappointed every time a patch is about to get released no matter what.

Anyways, it honestly just comes down to if you want to play between version updates or not. You're not paying for an account. There's no reason to cancel it, unless you hate SE/FFXIV that much. You can just check back in after updates, see how things have progressed. Don't like it? Wait till the next update.

Honestly, this will most likely be a driving force for the new management to be pushing out better quality/more updates for XIV. Yea, you paid for the game, but they've already lost 2 months of subscription fees from all users. With an indefinite free trial, I'm sure SE CEO is riding their asses to bring in profit. Even he knows the game is not up-to-par, however. XIV is in deficit, which is to be expected within the first couple years. Subscription fees would greatly help subside this.

Moral of the story: Free trial = faster updates. You should worry when we start paying.

Not bitching. Though I'm sure if I were all sunshine and rainbows about things some people would shit about that. Some people will just argue anything.

Just FYI: People are allowed to have different feelings and opinions when it comes to stuff like this. Just because you have a hateful demeanor on the internet doesn't make you right or anyone else wrong.

    Deal with it.

Also: If it turns out some/most/all of the previously mentioned things show up then I'll be glad to be "wrong." A pleasant surprise if you will. That being said I don't see why any of it would need to be withheld from being mentioned in any form before the full update notes are posted.

I just don't understand, you said you played FFXI and are familiar with their updates... FFXI never ever gave a complete list of the changes until the day of the patch when servers went down... If anything we are getting way more info about the patches before they are out than FFXI ever gave. So again, wait until tomorrow, then bitch all you want if the things you want are not in the patch. Today's post was more than likely just a strip tease of what will be in the patch.

Other than those who were able to get lots of EXP before this last update, how is this possible?

It's not possible and it's completely fucking false. Not very many people have even 1 class at rank-50. Maybe just some small clique linkshell groups who have done pretty much only grinding DoW/Ms since they started in October. I have yet to hear of someone with more than one class at rank-50. It's possible, but I'd be surprised if it were more than 1~3 gnarly people across all servers.

I was going to comment on that, but just gave up. 99% of player base is at rank 50 yeah right. Quick search on ffxivpro will show at the very most 25%, and thats a stretch. Hell I'm the second highest rank in my LS of 130ish members and I'm only 36 lol, most of the members are 25ish.
