Killed me to see that it wouldn't be airing until 2012, I forgot that they only just announced Spartacus' official replacement a few months ago.

Lucy Lawless survived? Is that confirmed?
I know i am late but just got to watch the finale and fuck was it amazing.
Spoiler: show
After watching a re-airing a few days after the finale, it occurred to me that when Solonius speaks to Vettius near the end after the announcement that Vettius' entire stock is Solonius', he tells him not to return as long as he's alive which makes me wonder if anything might come of that given events in S1 leading to S2.
Very good call, the director said they gonna have gladiator battles in season 2 and than gradually move away from them.
A way to fund their movement maybe? It was a good catch that I also missed. 2012 though ; ; /wrist.
Did Andy Whitfield make a cameo at all in Gods of the Arena? I remember reading that he was supposed to appear at some point. I know you hear Spartacus talking at the very end of the finale, but you don't actually see him. I'm just wondering if they snuck him in somewhere as some random person and I didn't notice.
I'm kind of surprised how well they tied up all the loose ends in the finale since at the end of episode 5, they didn't broach a lot of key subjects that are present in Blood and Sand. I remember thinking that they had to show how Batiatus and Solonius had a falling out, how Asher gets injured, and kill off all the random key people who weren't in Blood and Sand like Tulius, Gannicus and the one-eyed guy. It was funny that the thought of Batiatus freeing Gannicus never crossed my mind. I simply assumed he had to die at some point.
They used a couple clips from the finale of Blood & Sand in the first & last episodes of this series - one of them was the scene where Whitfield's talking to Batiatus after everyone else had been massacred.
Interesting point.. I'm not sure what role Vettius would have in S2 though.. Would he be the new Magistrate? Or have some place in charge of the Roman govt response to the slave uprising?
The already said Glober would be the one sent out to suppress the rebellion. The writer was saying how in the original story he was the first person sent out to battle Spartacus and they added a twist to their interpretation because they made him be the guy who also captures Spartacus and separates him from Sura in season 1. I'm assuming that with Solonious and Batiatus gone Vettius would try to regain his foothold in the arena and go back to running a ludus.
Olo makes a good point though in remarking about a govt role because as far as we know, he's either literally hiding out in Antioch or he actually pursues "higher status", however he worded it.
finale was awesome and had a couple unexpected twists. loved it.
s2 is going to be awesome hopefully
Glaber didn't even lead a legitimate army either. I'm sure the show will show some sort of awesome legion, but meh, what can you do. I want to see Crassus.
