seno taking weaboo classes SHOCKING
Not sure on my grade in Accounting 2, maybe a C, bombed the first 2 tests, hoping the final was high enough to pass me
and B in Ethics, this class was so easy but because it was, i didn't do half my homework
it sucks ass cause i only need 3 classes to finish with my degree, and they are only offering 2 next semester![]()
After starting my first quarter with mostly A's, I was looking forward to repeating the same.
Typography I: B+
The teacher is a notorious hardass, as long as I pretended to respect his opinion about his stupid shit he cut me some slack. A little. Better than none. Extreme perfectionist. His high standards forced us to produce some amazing work and I learned a ton.
Drawing, Proportion, Perspective: B
My teacher is a pusher. Constantly asks for more, is never satisfied. Beneficial, yet frustrating at times. Funny guy, total smartass, eats "bullshit for breakfast". Can't ever pull a fast one on him. Learned how to render in marker by requiring me to use them to finish my final. A group of girls in my class are surprisingly some of the most bright, cute, intelligent, witty girls I have ever known.
Drawing and Anatomy: B+
This teacher is a barrel of laughs. Warm and encouraging. Draw from a live nude model every week. First week, first day, our live model is a leatherdaddy. The tattoo of assless chaps on his forearm gave it away. A group of four of my new friends in the class end up hanging out in different groups between us to smoke weed and laugh at each other. I had to turn in an 8 foot long paper scroll with 80+ various forms of anatomy drawing studies today and I got a B+ on it.
Game Design and Game Play B+:
Not going to lie, this was my favorite class. One of the people in my group actually lurks here I think, as he played FFXI for years. The quarter long project was to complete a fully functional board game, balanced mechanics and all. We decided to base ours on the Zelda franchise. I let my partners take care most of the core mechanics and I do almost all of the artwork. I get a B+ as well.
Finished painting the box, now cutting stencil for the gold wax:
Spoiler: show
Was hoping to get A's but I'll take it.
by the time i am done with classes next thursday no one will care
anything aside from a 4.0 is unacceptable
I have quarters, so I'm getting my ass beat. For my Micro Computer Architecture: B, Engineering Ethics: A-, HDL Design & Stimulation Tech: don't know, Digital Integrated Circuits: Still don't know either ;x
Bio II - C (I'd be pissed at a 79 regularly, but since she dropped the lowest test and gave like 40 pts of extra credit, can't complain cause otherwise I'd be taking this shit again)
Organ chem - Looking at a C unless I get a 97 or higher on the final tomorrow. Not happening, so C (lol D if i fuck up and get a 60 or lower, but don't see that happening either)
Chem I - Redoing since I took a big shit my first semester (hence organ chem and chem I) - B+
World Religions - A (lol 30% attendance in this class).
All relevant labs - A
Really disappointing semester, 3.25 GPA aint cutting it. I am really hating this whole attendance and participation bull shit, I'm a fucking adult...if I need to go to class I'll go to class. Its one thing if its a seminar class, you need to be there, but if its just a lecture why the hell do I HAVE to go? /rant
U.S. Foreign Policy: B (this is good though, no one gets an A with that prof...hes ridiculous)
International Wealth & Power aka Int. Political Economy: B+ (I got 96-97% on everything but didnt go to class because it was so easy, so got points off lol. fucking retarded)
Global Justice Movements: A-
International human Rights: B (no idea how the fuck I got a B, I was hella confident I would get an A...mother fucker didn't post any of our grades though, I think its the same bull shit losing points for "participation")
My school let up on the attendance policy. You have to go at least once the first 4 classes of each class. Have to go once in the week of 60% through semester. The rest they don't care, though some teachers do.Its one thing if its a seminar class, you need to be there, but if its just a lecture why the hell do I HAVE to go? /rant
So while they can't dock you for attendance, they can do other shit to make sure you come. When I had calc II, the teacher would give a 5 point quiz every day on the last class' shit. Drop the 3 lowest and they all add up to equal a test grade (w/ 3 tests and the final, 1/5 of your grade).
I agree. The worst part is my PSYC class was basically all freshman who NEVER miss class, and it was in a small room in one of the shittier buildings on campus. I skipped two classes and was class rank like 167/200 for attendance. We use clickers to prove our attendance; dumb gimmick.
Which brings me to the dumbest gimmick of all to increase attendance: powerpoint slides with words missing. JUST GIVE ME THE FUCKING FULL SLIDES DAMNIT
My first semester i had an algebra class, where they didn't teach anything unless you asked for help, otherwise you were on your own to do the work. But we were required to show up for 3.5 hours 2x per week still. The prof didn't care if we left after 2 hours or so, as long as we got the work done, but still, was fucking retarded that we had to show up at all. Though after i took the final, on the third week (8 week sessions), she said i didn't have to come anymore, so meh. Really not sure why they require us to pay for+waste time doing HS algebra![]()
You should have asked for ffxi based math problems
That would have taken longer.
You should have tested out of that shit
Dunno when I'll get grades back, but thanks to grade inflation, expecting 2 As (hi2uGradSchool), and in the one class where there won't be any inflation, as long as I don't bomb the final tomorrow, should get an A. Not too concerned about it though since the majority of it will be reading SPSS and Stata tables and interpreting results.
As far as participation goes, having TAed this semester, I totally understand its benefit. If there was no participation grade, one of my sections would have sat in silence for 50 minutes every week. Wasn't till I posted grades halfway through the semester that they realized I was counting off and starting reading/talking >.>;
Yeah, should just do the powerpoints with a list of concepts. If people wanna attend class and know what specifically they need to know about them, good for them. If they feel their time is better spent elsewhere but they want to trudge through chapters in a book to figure it out later, good for them too. That's how the professor I was TAing for did it at least, but I know some of the other professors in my department are ridiculous about attendance -- like miss 2 classes and drop a full letter grade. I think those were generally smaller classes though..
Only have the marks for 3/5 classes, but right now I'm sitting at an 85 in classical genetics, 91 in biopsychology, and 78 in intro biochem. I actually ended up studying a lot this semester (I procrastinated and crammed way too much in my 1st and 2nd years), and I'm pretty confident that I got solid marks in my other 2 classes.
International Politics of East Asia - 4.0
Cooperation and Conflict Resolution in World Affairs - 4.0
Japanese 301 - Pass (didn't take it for a letter grade)
Just guessing mostly since two finals are yet to be graded but:
Psychological Dysfunction in the Family: A
Really enjoyed this class even though the professor loved to hear himself talk. Most of the class material seemed thrown together at the last minute but the dude made it work. The textbook was great, felt I learned a bunch about family therapy. Confidence booster plus a million there.
Career Counseling: A
First day of class the professor asked how many of us would he in this class if it wasn't a requirement for NY licensure... and everyone raised their hand. Also learned a shit ton in this class. The professor was probably the most knowledgeable guy I've met in grad school and he's only 34. Never used notes or anything, just lectured off the top of his head and never left anything out. Class project was kinda dumb (25 page research paper on current career counseling methods of a focus group of your choice) but was semester long and then there was a written final which was fairly challenging (prep for state exam basically).
Counseling and Applications II: B+
had the prof that taught this class for an online course and he gave me a B+ in that class too for arguing a valid point (at least that's what I got out of it). Basically he didn't moderate the topic discussions in the online class and the housewives and catty bitches in the class devolved every learning module into "how do I counsel my kids?" or "omg my house is bigger than yours!" or "i drive a BMW". Told him the class was terribly regulated and he knocked my A- down to a B+. This time around I forgot to sign the attendance sheet and had an absence that brought my grade down to B+ and when I proved to him with class notes I was there he refused to acknowledge me and did not change the absence to a present. Otherwise I learned an ok amount. Class text didn't really follow the lectures yet was needed to study for the exam.
Multicultural Perspective in Counseling: A
Getting an A in this class because so is everyone else. This was taken online and the professor wouldn't poat an assignment for two or three weeks sometimes. She never gave us a midterm and out six written assignments declared on the syllabus, we had two all semester. I wrote a terrible course evaluation and forwarded it to the dean of the counseling department asking if I should ask for a refund for this class. This is such an important topic in my field of study and to have this class "taught" in this manner is really heartbreaking.
Ohio State works on quarters so my classes were like Sept 20-Dec 4
Modern Japanese Literature: A
History of Japan before 1800 (mostly graduates took this class, I'm not even sure why I was there as I'm a junior): A-
Linguistics something something who gives a shit GEC the teacher couldn't teach for shit: B on a giant curve because everyone fucking failed that class
Transfer Orientation Humanities Survey Class: pass out of pass/fail
