Are the pro series really worth the 450? I get them for almost half that working @ bestbuy, 234 to be exact, are they worth the purchase? Are there comparable or better headphones for the money?

Take X amount of money, spend on beats. Take X amount of money, put it in sennheiseror audio technia, get a better product.
If you're getting half price, may be another story, but full price, beats are shit
Edit:
That being said, if the best you've ever done is some cheap gaming headset or some Target/Walmart headphones, these are going to blow you away regardless.
Only the Audiophiles are going to be able to tell the difference.
+1 for Sennheiser cans, especially their reference cans, they're god damn sexy. And they have the added advantage of not being closed so everyone can hear the sweet tunes you're listening to.
sennheiser hd 25-1 ii all the way. been using them for years now for pretty much everything. from having fun with my mpc500 over simply listening to music to playing in clubs (dj) etc. they weigh almost nothing, close perfectly and pretty much every part is replacable.
I have a friend that works at an Apple Store and they can get them for a huge discount- same friend sells them on ebay and makes bank.
Edit: so hustle and take advantage of friends that have epic benefits?
I have them and I love them. Definately worth the price if you listen to Hip hop/rap or anything Bass heavy. What makes these headphones standout is the way the bass sounds, which is used heavily in rap. As a bonus they are very stylish, nowadays you see a bunch of athletes and celebrities using them.
Well, with christmas coming up and the BB gift card I will most likely get, I am looking at 150 for the Beats pro. From what I've read, that is pretty much a good price to pay for them, I wish BB had those sennhieser ones.
If you're listening on a mobile device, it doesn't really matter how much you spend over £100 it's all going to sound the same.
i'm going to second the amp. one of the best purchases i've made.
What are those?
Audiophiles like me can tell the difference between cheap ass Chinese components and a great pair of studio monitors. What does audio cables have to do with cans? lol
Dre Beats sounded like any other Bose/Radioshack pair with built-in bass boost to me. Bass is the cheapest and easiest thing to produce in a pair of headphones, that shouldn't be something worth dropping $400, even $200 on alone. But, if you're willing to drop that kind of money on some cans and not have any intentions of professional applications, then it doesn't really matter.
Its a fashion statement, get them and you'll feel cool. Where as if you bought a pair of Senn's, Akais, Grado's, or whatever respectable brand for music heads, your friends will think those shits are generic anyways lol
/rant off get these and I will be forever jealous and stalk your ass

It's all about Grados. Fuck stupid big hip hop cans, it's about looking like a radio engineer from the 30s and 40s.
I'd love to know what qualifies someone as an audiophile. Bc I see tons of radio djs and djs in clubs using them when they mix. I would consider them an authority over some guy on a message board who compares them to a cheap Chinese knock off.
Yes they are a lil more expensive bc of the dre name and the high end style but so is a gucci sneaker to Nike.
Btw
Check out this custom site for beats headphones. Pretty sick

A pair of sony studio monitors for like 90 bucks is going to sound nearly identical to an overpriced set of dr. dre headphones.
There are monitors for DJ's and monitors for referencing/listening. Dre cans are neither. DJ's usually receive free equipment for advertising, just like alot of musicians do.
Yes, these headphones probably use cheap ass Chinese components because the only redeeming quality to them from reviews is an average dynamic range(big deal) and the repeated testimony of loud bass(big deal). Bose is notorious for using low-grade components in their headphones, because most people only respond to bass when looking for quality, which is easy to produce.
The 650 Senns that I posted which are around the same price as the Dre's are the highest quality studio monitors you can buy without dropping into the professional-grade $1,000+ range.
Also, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing Grado's. That's a fashion disaster, even if they do sound awesome.
Gucci rhymes with coochie, just sayin
I tried a few pair of Dr. Dre Beats a few months back for a couple of days and the quality just doesn't justify the price. The quality's higher than mediocre but you can find better quality for much less money.
Senn 650s are a great buy as they are sturdy, comfortable, and sound great thanks to the open design; a good concert hall recording will often sound like you're actually there. AT is an okay brand if your budget needs to stay on the cheaper side and/or you need a more closed sound (useful for when you're in louder environs). AKG is my go-to for something in between that, I love the K240s for their reference accuracy and balance between an open sound with a closed earpiece.
Beats are a marketing shill. Don't do it.
Edit: And yeah, if you're buying anything better than $150 retail, do yourself a favor and get an inline amp. Your ears will thank you for it.
