I'm quite sure this is near impossible but do any of you have any tips? My mom left me her laptop which is relatively good it just lacks a video card.
edit: problem is i can't really find a site that would sell individual mobile graphics cards.

Most mobile GPUs are built into the motherboard due to space constraints. You really can't upgrade them like you can with desktops.
^ This. I think there's some high-end Alienware laptops that allow for upgradeable components, but in the majority of laptops everything but the hard drive and battery is hard-soldered to the motherboard.
What model laptop is it? That might help us determine if you can upgrade it for that model or not.
no.
The odds that you're stuck with whatever is in there is pretty damn high unless you inherited one of the few mobile workstation laptops with a replaceable video card (some of the higher end HP, Dell units, along with of course the aforementioned Alienwares)
Some laptops do have MXM interfaces.
If your laptop didn't have a graphic card to start with, it won't have a MXM slot.
Even if it does (0.5% chance), MXM graphic cards are extremely expensive.
Well.. there's hope- but not too much: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1522180
That only counts as hope if your laptop has an mPCIe slot!
Express Card works too!
