Fuck, why would you post that. I'm resisting so hard to avoid opening that spoiler.

You know, I kind of have to side with the movie theaters take on this if Disney is asking for a 90-100% cut of ticket sales out the gate. If this is anything in the tier that the Avengers was, this movie is going to get a lot of repeat customers. This movie could easily make a $150 million or higher opening weekendand the normal 80/20 split would still see Disney pocketing $120 Mil.
Is it true about the post creds?

Well, I guess I should probably stay out of this thread for a few weeks now lol. See you in May!

Seems to be doing really well so far. Some even saying it's the best of the 3.
Just saw it, I thought it was pretty good, not as awesome as Avengers imo, but good none the less.

A 94 on rotten tomatoes might warrant a midnight show for me. Didn't have high expectations
Good review for this movie makes me excited that this guy may do a good job directing Death Note.

Disney is basically trying to recoup what it owes Paramount.
From what I remember reading a while back, when Marvel Studios started doing movies, they paired up with Paramount for distribution. The contract was for six movies and Paramount would do P&R (Prints and Advertising) for the releases and receive 8% of revenue generated by the movies such as Box Office, DVD/Internet Rentals, TV broadcast, etc. In 2009 when Disney bought Marvel, the contract remained up until Disney decided to buy out Paramount's contract for the last two of the six movie deal (The Avengers and Iron Man 3) so that Disney could distribute the movies and not have to share profits with another company. In order to break the contract early, Disney had to pay Paramount around $57 Million for each movie up front and Paramount would also receive 8% of revenues from both movies minus the initial $57 million that they received on each. This meant that Paramount wouldn't earn a bonus payout until either movie made over $712 Million.
This whole situation puts a huge cost on Disney for Iron Man 3. Not only did Disney have to pay $57 Million out of the gate, but they are also shouldering the costs of global P&A which could easily hit $150 Million like it did with Iron Man 2 (though I haven't seen as much advertising). Since the budget of Iron Man 3 is about $200 Million, when you add it all together, the total cost to Disney is going to be somewhere around $400 Million which is what they are going to need to make in order to break even.
This above is the reason why Disney wants most if not all earnings from opening weekend ticket sales. Had Disney simply let the contract with Paramount end with Iron Man 3 and then change over to their own distribution, they could have saved themselves the need to request a larger cut from ticket sales.
It was alrite, a lot better than 2nd movie, kinda meh compare to the first.
Lots iromen gives me hard on. (like you've seen in trailer).
Seeing Tummie post a completely logical post with apparent ties to the real world makes me wonder who let him out his .dat mine box. Just jarring to see him outside the ffxi section.
overhyped shit.
It was better than that disgrace of a movie that goes by the name of Ironman 2 but not by much, the epilogue was so underwhelming (the suits get as much screen-time as mechs did in Bay's Transformers, lots of out of character stuff that I won't spoil, such a lame and bidimensional villain - again -, etc.) I felt like leaving the teather and the build-up was drawn the fuck out and almost entirely forgettable (barring, which was the least unimaginative portion of the plot, I guess).Spoiler: show
My fiancee's comment after the movie was "well, it was just one endless and quite noisy sequence of stuff blowing up with very little plot or character development going on". I think she nailed it.
EDIT: the first movie is one of my all-time favourites, mind you...the latest just feels like a missed opportunity, here's to hope that Downey Jr will come back for the 4th.
Well, I for one loved it.Spoiler: show
Well, looks like AMC settled with Disney.
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...,2762804.story
I stand corrected on the 80/20 split as it seems Disney and AMC had a flat 50/50 revenue share instead of the high end percentage going to the studios for the first weeks until it evens out over time. 65/35 is still kind of bad for the theaters which is what Disney was asking, but it's not as bad as George Lucas getting 100% box office sales for Phantom Menace opening weekend.
You can't really tell from the article but I looked around and found that AMC caved into Disney's demands![]()
