I haven't read any spoiler tags, I've completely blinded myself to all things Iron Man so as not to spoil the experience.

I loved the movie, the post-credits scene was great, it was a great addition to the Marvel film universe, but....

I'm not knocking the movie, but I was expecting, and hoping, for a more traditional take on the Mandarin, and especially the Extremis storyline. I HATE to talk badly about the film because I REALLY enjoyed it, but dammit, I wanted an Extremis Tony Stark, and I felt like the Mandarin being a cover for Killian was kinda cheesy.

I loved it for what it was, a Hollywood superhero summer flick.

I did not love it as an Extremis/Mandarin Iron Man story, both were portrayed horribly compared to their original story lines.

I don't know how I felt about it, if that makes you feel any better. I'm hoping additional viewings will improve my view, but I really don't know what to think of the movie overall..

Was I entertained? Yes, very much so. But as an Iron Man movie, there were a lot of parts I didn't like and didn't sit well with me..

Been avoiding this thread the past week or so, so apologies if any of this is a repeat.

Really didn't like the take on the Mandarin. Given how long they've avoided including him in the story, I felt he deserved a better telling. Didn't like the ending either. Why did he have to blow up all his suits, remove the shrapnel, and then toss the arc reactor? We all know he's going to be back as Iron Man, at the very least, for Avengers 2, so that whole bit just seemed unnecessary.

Also, 42 was used for comic relief way too much >.>;

Just got home from seeing the whole marathon of films. I enjoyed it but like others didn't care for one aspect.

Seriously why did they cast Ben Kingsley to play Russell Brand? Why not just cast Brand himself since that was what they wanted from him. Granted he was only a smokescreen character anyway and Pearce was the real Mandarin but still. That whole bit just seemed a bit to goofy.

Just got back home from seeing it, Iron Man 1 still best of the 3 just because but this was far better then then 2 by a good margin.

Was pissed about the whole Mandarin twist though, not what I expected and a huge letdown really. As soon as I saw him come out of the bathroom and act goofy and shit I was like "What the fuck? really?"

I was honestly hoping at the end of the credits it would cut back to him, and it would turn out that everything was a smokescreen and he was the real mandarin and just playing them for chumps...was really pissed when they showed him being arrested at the end.

Would have rather have seen Mandarin and Extremis both get their own movies instead of lumping them together, I mean this movie was basically just Extremis and then they tacked on Mandarin for a smokescreen, why not tack on some random badguy and use one of the main villians in their own movie?

Well, they butchered the Extremis story, and I'm not at all familiar with Mandarin, but I still think it was an outstanding movie.

But I agree the Extremis storyline was absolutely butchered. And I HATED the Mandarin angle. If you're going to have the Mandarin in an Iron Man movie you fucking make him like the comic book Mandarin. WTF.

Anyway. I liked this movie over 2 (which is now easily forgettable). Iron Man chronology should really go IM1 -> Avengers -> IM3.

Also, did not like all of the whorish product placement throughout the movie
