If you mean the Audi product placement, Film4 showed Iron Man 1 a few times over the last couple of weeks (don't have the DVD and I was bored so I watched it twice) and it was everywhere in that so I was used to it already.

good movie, not even remotely accurate to the comics. fun to watch, though.

It wasn't ever supposed to follow the comics word for word right? From my understanding it was just loosely based on Ultimates.

I went in unspoiled and was honestly surprised at the lack of time Tony spent actually in the suits. It seemed like most of the time it was just him running around with an open laceration on his face. I like it overall, it just could have used more suit-time for Tony.

I guess having worked in the movie industry for so long I've learned to go into every movie with absolutely no expectations making almost any movie enjoyable. I've given up on any movie ever following close to any book, comic, or video game. It never happens and believing that it will follow it tooth and nail will almost always let you down.

I do agree that he did spend a lot of time out of the suit this movie up until the very end. Which I thought was a rather nice change. Still interested to see which direction the series takes now with no arc reactor or suits. And well Pepper being completely crazy now.

Really liked it as a movie, just has a bunch of faults. The extremis storyline, how they handled Mandarin, and basically everything else people have said. And for being an Iron Man movie, you barely see Tony in the suits. Might as well have just called it Tony Stark 3. Other than that, wasn't a bad movie. Still better than IM2. Only thing that kinda bugged me is the fact that a bunch of people had said the post-credits scene was a lead-in to Guardians of the Galaxy with Tony flying into outer space. I liked the whole Bruce Banner post-credit scene, but still. Also, FUCK sitting in the front row. Thought I had gotten tot he theater with plenty of time left, but nope . I'll probably pick this up on Bluray when they release an Iron Man Trilogy set (you know they will).

What do you mean being crazy? He removed the Extremis from her, he talked about it near the end when he was being operated on.

Don't think he removed it. He fixed it. No more bursting into flames. That was the whole reason they wanted Tony in the first place.

I hadn't thought of that angle, I just assumed he meant he removed it. Could be very interesting if she returns for more movies.

Loved every minute of it. Felt shane black trolled the crap out of me on just one part. Will probably go see it a 2nd or 3rd time did a iron man marathon 1, 2, avengers then 3 so was a little tweaked. Had fun and we did have a few behind me that were complaining it suppose to be about magical rings. I'll wait a day or two to ask one question about the film i still can't figure out.

Was I entertained? Yes, very much so. But as an Iron Man movie, there were a lot of parts I didn't like and didn't sit well with me..

Been avoiding this thread the past week or so, so apologies if any of this is a repeat.

Really didn't like the take on the Mandarin. Given how long they've avoided including him in the story, I felt he deserved a better telling. Didn't like the ending either. Why did he have to blow up all his suits, remove the shrapnel, and then toss the arc reactor? We all know he's going to be back as Iron Man, at the very least, for Avengers 2, so that whole bit just seemed unnecessary.

    Also, 42 was used for comic relief way too much >.>;
The ending was awful. Spoiler below is related.
    Spoiler: show
Okay RDJ is out of contract now, but you KNOW that even if he somehow doesn't come back that there will be Iron Man in the Avengers 2. And if half of that movie is god damn Tony Stark deciding to put the suit back on I will riot in the theater.

Also, I hate how Pepper is portrayed, and I hated "clean slate" in particular. Hey teenage boys watching this movie, all women will eventually nag you into destroying your toys and giving up any hobby or sense of self you used to have. I'm exaggerating, but I'm sure you can understand my point.

Also, while I can sort of understand the hate for Iron Man 2, I didn't have too many issues with that movie. At least you got to look at Scarlett Johansson in that one, and Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke are pretty solid.

I can't remember if it was at the start of the movie or it was just a line to promote the move but "Does the suit make the man or the man make the suit" was thrown out, which is why Tony was out of the suit most of the film, we know the capabilities of tony as Iron Man but how much of it was actually him and not jarvis talking in his ear? that's what i felt the whole thing was, tony realizing that he had his place in defending earth from the invasion in avengers and coming to terms with the PTSD, overcoming it to the point that he made the decision to remove the arc reactor and live a more normal life with pepper.

I also thought he'd fixed the flaw and used it on himself so that when he had the operation to remove the shrapnel it healed quicker or something? Or was he always able to have it removed but chose not to because the arc reactor was being used to power the suits?

My friend mentioned that tonight, and I hadn't considered it. If that's the case, and it stands to reason that it is, because I'm pretty sure he could easily outfit the suits with their own arc reactors (he outfitted his entire tower with one in Avengers), then I find myself less disappointed with the movie. If he could have removed the shrapnel previously, he would have. The arc reactor almost killed him in IM2, so why wouldn't he have dealt with it earlier, except that he needs Extremis to survive the operation. I still would have rather seen him undergo the Extremis process earlier and use it to defeat Killian. closer in line to the comic (not exact, I know, but at least more in line)

Just saw it, was entertained for most of the movie and it was nice to see more Tony and less Iron Man but what the hell at the ending? Things felt very rushed and tied up into a bow especially considering what happened and I feel Tony's decision is rash and influenced by TDKR negatively.

I liked the humor used to damper the serious overtones of the film but the reason Tony gives up being Iron Man are pretty weak. Yeah, we get that obsession with the suits and saving the world was eating up time being with Pepper but how exactly do you simply walk away considering the events of the Avengers?

We get it: Tony Stark is Iron Man. Now scale back to suit obsession and enjoy life a bit... without throwing away the entire idea of being a superhero. He's a super genius inventor and tinkerer and we're supposed to just accept that hes hanging up the armor and living the normal life?

I didn't even consider that Pepper could still have Extremis. Shit, the movie could have ended better with Tony building her Rescue as she goes back to her CEO job and he realizes that he can have his cake and eat it too.

We know he has to be back for Avengers 2 anyway.

It was a good Friday night movie, didn't come close to the first. I wholeheartedly agree on TDKR influence btw. Superman will save the summer.
