I'm not even an iron man fan like that but the last half of the movie was horrible. iron man 3 went from potentially epic showdown vs manderin with a good build up to a cheesy action-comedy ala "stop or my mom will shoot" jon favreau was completley unnesseccary and he was being a screen hog. Wasted 30 minutes of screen time with the little kid, iron patriot instead of war machine, pepper potts with powers ... movie was just a mess it felt like i was watching bad boys 2 by the end of it

guy pearce performance was great tho, he is an excellent actor

Had high hopes to see the real Mandarin.. HE WAS HYPED FOR A YEAR AND THEY DO THIS BS. Way to comical, even for IM, idk, just over all disappointment.. Dont get me wrong, I still enjoyed it as a movie-goer, but ugh as a marvel fan.

As much as I thought IM 3 was a decent movie, they should have done phase 2 a little different, as in not make IM 3 at all,
Should have had tony get trapped in space at the end of the avengers, added him to guardians of the galaxy, return to earth for avengers 2, make Ant Man be part of phase 2 instead.

Would have made more people who may not normally have been interested in GotG see it because Iron man is in it, and I feel it might have just ended up better overall

They could have made IM 3 about Tony's post-Avengers space adventures, maybe ending the flick with joining the Guardians.

Answering the Warmachine question:

I had that issue at first too, but then I remembered that they said AIM had something to do with redesigning it as the Iron Patriot, so I'm assuming they put in a way for them to hijack it. It seems odd that they'd go to a random think tank to handle one of the most advanced pieces of equipment they have rather than the guy who created it, but it does answer the question.

My issue then is

why does it work again when Rhodes puts it on to escort the President away? I mean I guess they must have disarmed it in some way when they had him captured and were trying to get him out of the suit, and that would extend to why it remains disabled when the President is wearing it... but then Rhodes puts it on and it's all good again.

Doesn't detract from my final evaluation of the movie, but it still is something that bothers me.

Since this thread was bumped and I finally saw this recently, have to say that I fucking hated this movie. Complete bastardization of the series and highly disappointing. When people said they were upset with the Mandarin, I didn't think it was going to be anywhere as bad as it was.

The main thing that annoyed me was that despite being a major element of the advertising, the other Iron Man suits had barely any screen time and nothing was done to emphasize their different capabilities. They ended up basically being really expensive battle droids.

Weakest entry in the series. The Extremis/Mandarin angle were just terrible.
