Despite most of Marvel Studios' attention planted on promoting the release of The Avengers, production for their next film, Iron Man 3, is reportedly moving swiftly. Now, according to ComicBook.com, who've been keeping tabs on the Shane Black-directed production in Wilmington, North Carolina, reports that set work has begun. Additionally revealing the movie's title that'll be used while filming is underway, read on below.

Iron Man 3 is currently in pre-production under the code name “Caged Heat.” Comicbook.com has reporters on-site in Wilmington, North Carolina where Iron Man 3 is scheduled to film at EUE/Screen Gems Studios. We’re hearing reports that set construction has already begun. As far as filming, we’re still hearing the target for initial filming will be very early May (with a possibility of late April). Even though Iron Man 3 has been officially announced as filming in Wilmington, the code name “Caged Heat” is still being used by various sources in the local Wilmington film industry.

Robert Downey Jr. is set to return as the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, 'Tony Stark,' while Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau are reportedly locked in to reprise their roles respectively. There has also been heavy reports that Scarlett Johansson will reprise her 'Black Widow' role. And with filming possibly commencing in April, Iron Man 3 hits theaters on May 3, 2013!

Thanks to Latino-Review we may have our first taste of what Shane Black's has in store of us with Iron Man 3! If this news in true then you can bet your ass this is going to be packed full of spoilers! So be aware of that before you read ahead and watch the video.

The report claims that Tony Stark's next Iron Man adventure would be coming from one of the characters most popular stories... the Iron Man: Extremis story-line from the comics, which would make for one hell of a great movie! Here's what is revealed...

- Nanobots, people!

- Nanobots that make villains

- Nanobots that can also make Tony Stark more than a man in a suit.

- Which is an idea planted in Tony Stark’s head by Captain America in THE AVENGERS because Avengers leads directly into Iron Man 3.

- Production on Iron Man 3 starts in May.

UPDATE: According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Insiders say there is a chance (Ben)Kingsley will play the Mandarin but at the same time say since the script is still being written, the character may be reconfigured for silver screen presentation." So, it sounds as if Kingsley might just play the Mandarin (or at least a version of him) after all! Stay tuned for details.

Confirmation of his involvement arrives even as Variety reports Ashley Hamilton is in talks to play the minor villain Firepower in Iron Man 3. Introduced in 1988′s Iron Man #230, the character was the pilot of an experimental armored suit created as part of the U.S. government’s secret Project: Firepower program. The son of George Hamilton, Ashley Hamilton is a friend of Robert Downey Jr. who’s best known for his appearances on the ninth season of Dancing With the Stars, and his subsequent gig as a correspondent for Extra.

Didn't Obadiah Stane's son hire Jack Taggert to go after Ironman as revenge? Also since they are saying this one will be loosely based off of the Extremist Comics, it makes me wonder if it's going to be:

- Taggert going after Iron Man as a minor villain
- Aldrich Killian creating an extremist like serum
- Eric Savin being a test subject after some mortal injury and they use an experimental nano technology serum (changing the origin) and Coldblood becomes the Main Villain?

I live in Raleigh, I've been an extra in a couple of films and TV shows shot in Wilmington. Really wanted to be in IM3. Ah well.

Iron Patriot by itself was bleh. It was only interesting because you knew Norman was under there being all shifty and crazy. When he lost his helmet in Siege and he had his goblin face on, too awesome. Will be interesting to see what they do with it.
