It was my understanding that most movies are done, long before release; but sometimes shit gets stuck in post-production or distribution, so I'd say they got plenty of time.

^ This. When most movies start production the first month or two is usually spent building sets, finding shooting locations and ironing out any other details. Once the main filming takes place, it usually takes about 4-6 weeks depending on the type of movie (Smaller production films can finish filming in 2-4 weeks). After that it is all post production and marketing. Post production can be a very long process especially if you have CGI and then the film has to be edited and pieced together and then screened internally and possibly more tweaks afterwards. It isn't rare though that a movie could sit completed in a vault while it waits to be released.

Iron Man's newest suit in Iron Man 3, the Mark VIII just got a hell of a lot more awesome! The suit was unveiled at Comic-Con earlier this year, and many people weren't really happy with the design. I just have to say, it looks a lot cooler in action on the big screen.

The footage we were shown showed the suit remotely attaching itself onto Tony Stark, but it does a lot more than that! Thanks to our friends at Latino Review we have some very big spoilerish information on the suit, and I'll begin with saying that it's not really the Mark VIII...

The suit is actually the Mark XLVII. That's right, this is Iron Man's 47th armor! And wait until you read what it can do!

The Extremis-enhanced bad guys under direction of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin villain are going to be too much for Tony to handle on his own, so he thinks ahead, thinks big and has a plan. Tony’s about to go out and fight some bad guys when he mentions the Mark XLVII to Pepper Potts. Pepper asks what happened to the other forty and Tony just smiles.

From the cockpit of Mark XLVII Tony is able to control multiple armors in battle. We over here at LR have been vaguely aware of an action scene where Tony was going to control multiple Iron Man suits (presumably they look similar to distract his enemies as to the location of kill-able Iron Man Prime), but the number 40 seems…awesome. 40 Iron Men.

Earlier this summer Andy Lau was cast in Iron Man 3 as a scientist who helps out Tony Stark. Unfortunately he had to drop out and in a recent report from Chinesefilms.cn he has been replaced by actor Wang Xueqi. It also looks like there's more to the character he plays then we previously thought.

We've learned that the name of the character is Chen Lu, China's foremost researcher in nuclear radiation and its effect on humans. He's also known as Radioactive Man, and has worked for the Mandarin several times in the comics. So, I think it's safe to say that we'll be seeing Radioactive Man in the movie! Not sure how much help he'll be to Stark if he's working for the villain.

@Serra exactly. I first assumed they were doing the Extremis armor to give IM a chance at not being worthless fighting Thanos in Avengers 2, and to me that was a great idea. This, however, seems ridiculous, but I'll be in line opening day praying they pull it off and don't ruin IM in future movies.

Not really jumping the shark because this somewhat follows the idea in the Extremis Comic where he gets injected with the Extremis Virus and basically turns him into a cyborg. The suit fuses to his body and he can control it with thought since it is connected up to his nervous system. With that he can also connect to and communicate with other computers.

I hope Iron Man 3 is the last in the series, and if they ever move onto Phase 3 of the Avengers, the 3rd wave of movies will feature some other character's story to replace Iron Man.

Yeah it did, and I'm fine with him interacting with the suit, and other computers, but controlling an entire army of 40 suits just seems a bit cheesy. I really hope I'm wrong.

Last I heard they have no set number in mind to stop these movies. Gonna keep making them as long as they can.
