FFXIV is different, though. Its a brand new MMO that's floundering in the water after being released to the world market all at one and simultaneously flopping in each region.
That's got to count for something!
Seriously though, a priority loading system would be the next best thing to an actual, functioning AH. Here's hoping we actually get one.
What a let down. Your stupid retainer system will keep players away from this game because an AH is just easier. Scrap your retarded retainer system already and give me an AH.
Edit: honestly think about the press and reviews of this game. One huge thing they'll always bring up is this "terrible system of buying items" that requires "a lot of time" to buy anything. Go AH or go home.
When Stan Lee stepped down as editor in chief at Marvel, he asked that they not mess with Silver Surfer, his favorite character, without consulting him. Because of that the surfer didn't have anything really going on outside of a few cameo appearances and a one shot in 1981. It wouldn't be until 1987 that he let them have complete control of the character.
Moral of this weird ass story? I hope that the retainer and ward system isn't Tanaka's Silver Surfer.
i'm not terribly concerned with actually seeing him put his stamp on the december updates (as nice as it'd be to see them start early), but i really would like to see his outline and future plans.
the game, as it is, is ridiculously testing in terms of patience. someone mentioned in another thread that they basically log on for their gl's and they can't WAIT to log off once they're done. i feel the same way and i know i'm not the only one.
personally i'll deal with the garbage game and its updates (no matter how lacking) as long as there's something worth waiting for on the horizon. but if SE leaves us in the dark with only future promises and no time tables the player base's enthusiasm will continue to erode. for me, that enthusiasm is the only thing keeping me connected to the game, and i'd venture to say it's the same for just about everyone else who's displeased with 14.
Remake the FFXI AH but allow price history to scroll up to the last 50 sales and let us put up to 20 items on the AH. Add some shine to it to make it fancy and sleek and there you fucking have it. What is so hard about this FFS!?
Hell I was thinking just copy and paste the AH, but remove price history all together and add listed 'buy it now' prices for each item. This would just make prices more spread by word than set in stone. If you sell an item that currently is not for sale; you determine the price. If you sell an item that there are few up for sale already, yea there will be undercutting, but once those lower priced items are sold the higher ones will sell because people will be none the wiser without a price history to go by, or by word of mouth of others saying they could get it cheaper.
Keep the damn 7 item at a time only, or raise it to 10. This keeps people with a retainer selling crap in the wards if they have an over abundance of items while stuff on the AH sells for them. Or at least they could sell their items that differ by 'type' on the AH so that they could place their retainer in the right ward to sell stuff.
Buy it now would be acceptable, but the 7 limit bs has to go. It's especially retarded when you are selling materials that don't stack or really cheap items that you crafted and have a ton of. There is no point in having a sell limit, if people have shit to sell let them sell it. Since you have to have some limit probably to prevent the game from exploding just set it really high.
What's worse? People complaining or people who complain that people complain? lol
I don't understand why some shit is still stacking to x12, some is x99 and some is x999. Why the fuck do I need to have 5 stacks of raptor sinew cords, 12 stacks of cotton bolls, flax, or fleece instead of just 1 stack that goes to x999 in my/my retainer's inventories.
It's like they want some semi-reality on inventory space, even though you can hold 100 suits of heavy armor on one character. They should really be innovative and make the inventory go up to 10,000 or some number you should never hit.
I really don't think removing price history would do anything myself. Since if people wanted to try a fixed price they could look on YG/XIV Pro.
One of the main reasons undercutting happened was how the game decided the priority of who's item will get sold, which was by who had the lowest price set. Instead the priority should be which item was up first.
For example, lets say we both get an item that's priced around 100K, you sell your item at 100K and then later I try to undercut you by putting it at 99K. Someone buys the item we put up for 100K, however since you put yours up first yours would sell before mine. The only way my item could take priority over yours in this situation was if someone put a bid at under 100K.
Not a whole lot, but a step in the right direction IMO.
lol funny thing is I've never played WoW.
You do realize the addition of this will probably enhance YG tenfold right? As long as more people use the yg updater any time they search for an item, it will probably show up on the site. Also it is almost impossible for SE to make a system better than YG, because YG just incorporates anything they use.
