Gift advice: Cool casual physics shit

My cousin has suddenly become a big reader since getting into college and he loves weird physics shit(like odd "fun facts"), and probably also metascience stuff. I picked him out of my family's secret santa hat, and I think what I want to give him a book on the subject. Something flashy, accessible, and also not more than 25 dollars. Coffee table book I think the expression is called. Any advice?

Subjects which are like one step away from what I am talking about are decent suggestions. Probably history too.

there're books that explain how popular scifi shows or comic superpowers work. if he's a fan of like star trek or star wars or superman find a book that talks about the physics behind it

Are they canonical explanations or something? Seems like a pretty short book if it all it says is "it's impossible".

too bad; i know he would have some great suggestions. tbh i'd go repost this in general if you haven't already. more people who tend to post in the physics/space/science serious discussions browse that forum. granted, some of them are fuckin retarded, but then i mean you also braved spam without that concern, so.
