    Food, and Optimal boosts

Hey guys, it's Baxter Mergous from Rabanastre I just wanted to quickly share something on achieving optimal boost with foods.

I think a few know already, but even still, it isn't all what it seems. If this isn't new information to you please disregard. This is for those who do not know.

With prepared food you receive a generous base boost and it gives you the messages of Well Fed. You can also receive additional boosts, which will follow up with the messages "tasty", "delicious", and "divine". Divine is the highest you can go and this means both of the criteria for the food has been met.

Prepared foods boost optimization are not based on class, class rank, or race, but on two simple things. A stat (which one depends on the dish), and an elemental affinity (this is also determined by dish).

Previously, it was believed that to receive any of the three optimal boost both stat, and affinity had to align with the food's target requirement. This is not true...

You can receive boosts, tasty, and delicious just by meeting either the affinity requirement, or the stat requirement. To receive tasty, or delicious with one stat you have to fall within -4/+4 range, or -7/+7 range of affinity.

I sort of spammed lodestone because of their stupid text limit with dish specific stat/affinity requirements. I will continue posting food groups until I have covered them all. Feel free to take a look.

    Lodestone: Baxter Mergous.

you know it checks the cap for your class rank or just the actual stat no matter which rank?

if checks the cap we can use it to know the cap for all stats on all classes, and if doesnt use the lower level foods will be useless 99% of the time since its so easy to level physical.

Thanks for the information. Do you have any data on the actual boosts to stats?

Not sure if class rank affects caps, but food useless, no. It gives a very generous boost alone. I'm assuming it works a lot like gear outside of the additional boosts you can receive. Nonetheless more testing is on the way.

Lancaster, yes I know a rough estimate of some food effects mostly mage. It's just really hard because of time and now with icd10 and reqs updates to emr I have literally no time anymore but once I get actual #s and figures I will post

sorry, i dont think you understood my question..

my point is, i have over 60 on all stats already, does that mean i cant use lower level foods and get the most optimal boosts?

ie: im rank 1 GLA and have 90 str, so i should use food with optimal boost as 90str or somewhere between 20 and 40 (probable cap).

What causes food to be disagreeable?

The foods just don't scale that high yet to facilitate your stats. The great thing is you can lower your affinity in whatever food boost you want to achieve. But +60 stats sure there are foods that reach 77/78 +4/-4

@purrfect. Non processed/cooked/ or prepared foods which varies by race. Distiller water is a component now I don't believe anyone finds it anything but disagreeable.

    [Tuna Miq'abob]
    Optimal Attribute | Optimal affinity
    DEX: 57/58 (within -4/+4) |or| Lightning 45 (within -7/+7)
Hm. Had my lightning affinity at 45 exactly for quite a while and always got the usual well fed message for tuna. I use tuna 90% of the time too since our culs keep feeding it to me.

Edit: Gonna drop it back down and try again just to make sure.

Worked like a charm for tuna. Guess my affinity wasn't where I thought it was. Dropped lightning to 50 and I receive delicious message now.

yes, either stat or affinity within range for delicious or tasty. Stat range is only +4/-4, and affinity range is +7/-7, but have affinity within it's range, and the stat within +9/-9 of that, and you can receive divine message.

Would it be viable to have unused points, if you planned on having food up anytime you're doing something that matters? Is the food bonus from optimal stat/affinity that much?

I actually try to keep an affinity that I know i will use for food at 80, to get the maximum. Not currently im still doing a lot of testing, but yes that's pretty much the point or not to max it as much

Over the course of leveling Blacksmith from 10 to 20 today, Apple Juice went from delicious to tasty. Based on that, I'm going with it is based on class rank cap.

I'm positive there is a cap foods reach, some boosts are simply better than others. Your tastes went from delicious to tasty because you increased your stats Or affinity not because your rank went up.

Or you drank so much of it that your character isn't as fond of it anymore? I'm wondering if they modeled the food system after Crystal Chronicles'.
