So, with all the bitching... only 2 people actually tried the new search system BEFORE posting?
I say 2 because I haven't tried it yet either... add me to this fail pile.

Well.
It sort of kind of works.
Did the search for a canvas Acton.
online it's listed as "war garb", but there's no war garb in the searches, only attire and hooded attire. Checked all three (lower, middle, upper). No actons. No '0' next to the names on the list like some stuff, but... nothing.
Checked yg.com... saw someone selling a pink one in the RIGHT ward, updated 9 hours ago. Bought it off the retainer.

oh i see. "War Garb" is listed under armor stuff. Oh well. I guess it works.
Apparently the search doesn't separate NQs from HQs. HQs are usually what I'm looking for in there in an attempt to optimize my stats since there is no rare gear whatsoever to strive for. The one thing it does succeed at is eliminating the price history which still allows for a little edge to profit of super lazy people who buy the item from the first red star they see.
You really have to reach super deep into your bag of bs statements to defend this shit.
War Garb is under armorlifter's ward or something of that nature
Yea, I noticed that after a moment of thinking. (I 'quit' coffee, it's not going so well)
Ah well, it wouldn't have come up because the acton was in the 'wrong' ward anyways. Still had to use yg to find stuff. Still going to have to use yg to see what the average price is of stuff, too. All I see this has done is made it easier to find the NPC I am looking for after finding them on yg.
Easy way to cure the stupid is to just make it so that something like a DoH material can't be active on a retainer when you try to put them in the Battlecraft Ward.
I'd like to not take hours for something that should take 10 minutes (and usually does in any other MMORPG) as I painstakingly search through each ward of each town looking for a particular item, and even more time if I'm looking for the best deal.
I suppose you're right, though. This game wants to slow everyone down so much anyway that what's another 20 minutes? I really don't have any complaints about the system (aside from everyone else's) save for the fact that the game still seems to be pushing this slow, plodding, trundling "realistic" experience at us.
Also, does the game have a priority system yet for loading retainers that are currently showing up on the search function?
Y'know, they could exist for a future AH feature (do they even have the signs near them? I only know one in LL and iirc it's not close to northern islands) but company housing sounds like a more likely scenario to me.
Criticizing them for making this stupid system is all good, but it's dumb to bitch about not scrapping the system and making an AH when none of us have a clue how far they are in development, and how much time and resources it'd take to implement one (instead of continuing to develop this system). Hell, the first thing they work on are the areas as far as I'm aware, so the AH sign & room may be just a remnant from the past, before they had even thought of the marketplace. I think it's rather obvious that LL is where the development started from (the 2005 concept vid took place in a similar setting).
As far as the item search goes, I didn't expect much and it looks better than I initially thought. Once all is said and done I doubt this system will be a problem.
Aside from all the bitching, we can all agree its better than searching individually through countless bazaars. Even if you can't find what you're looking for in the search, you weren't going to find it to begin with anyway.
^ Could have found it through YG. Just Sayian'.
Right now, it looks like the only way to make the search system really "work" is:
1) have one of the item you are looking for
2) put that item up for sale in your retainer's bazaar, in the correct ward (presuming that ward is not full)
3) search for your own item and red-star it
4) wander the other wards looking for red stars
I know a few people whose biggest problem with the game is lack of an AH. That above all the other problems keeps them from playing it.
I really wish SE would swallow their pride at this point rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. While I've been willing to work with the system a lot of people aren't and they're only hurting themselves more at this point. Either morph the market wards to be an AH facsimile or scrap it all together and make them the entrance to our mog house.
Yes, retainers that have what you're searching for load first, even if they're on the complete other side of the ward.
isn't it funny? SE desperately wants to save their game, and instead of simply addressing one of the biggest players' concerns, they continue to force feed the market ward system to the player base. if their goal is to get players to come back, they need to give the players what they want instead of further angering and alienating the players who are on the fence.
most players are trying hard to give this game a chance (that it definitely doesn't deserve at this point) but SE continues to squander them to no end. sad to say, it's really hard to trust them to do anything right, though not unexpected.
Lack of AH being one of the number one complaints is bullshit.
Sadly, I have to agree with this. The retainer system means starting the game with basically a billion times the inventory space of ffxi at start or any other mmo at start, hell 300 slots is probably more than you ever get in a lot of games! Even if they add an AH they could keep retainers for people to bazaar stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if they thought people would use the wards b/c of how rolanmart got popular for bazaaring in ffxi. Too bad they are bad at understanding why things are done by players though.
The problem with this game is its a boring solo grind mmo rpg with less meat than an offline rpg. Its boring and tiresome, its a walking/running simulator. It doesnt even feel like a game to me.
