KIRBY'S EPIC YARN FOR EVERYONE
KIRBY'S EPIC YARN FOR EVERYONE
I thought this was a genius idea but I need to bounce it off someone else. I want to get a small gift for a girl I'm seeing. We aren't BF and GF or anything yet (although I have expressed a desire for more). I helped her put up her christmas tree though and she clearly needs more ornaments, but almost all of them were her mom's, who died a year ago (that she even let me handle them gave me some confidence). I figured a Christmas ornament would be a great gift, especially if I can find a Beatles one since she is a huge Beatles fan (like me).
Am I entering dangerous territory with this gift or is it...appropriate?
You obviously want to watch how much you spend on this chick if you aren't even dating. Do you expect her to get you a gift?
personally i hate when i get ornaments as a gift because it's like, great, i can use this once a year if i don't lose it, also i hate christmas, thanks. but i'm not a girl with a dead mom.
Actually, does he watch much TV or movies? The Sony S370 Bluray player can be had for a little over $100 now and there are tons of sales on TV series and Blurays right now. Probably higher than you had in mind, though, yes? I usually try to conspire with the rest of the family for bigger gifts, not sure if that's an option. Amazon also has a fair amount of stuff being given free 1-day shipping. I saw you wanted to avoid gift cards but a gift certificate for a few massages locally might be something ideal for a stressed Dad.
I was thinking of few of these things as well but wasn't sure how far to go on the chance that the giftee might be a little new and totally fall apart playing a game or not see the true value if something looked weird. All those picks look solid and in the instance of New Super Mario Bros Wii, there's the opportunity to play together as well, even if that game may make her throw a newly acquired wii out of the window.
@Zoo -- that's pretty cute. DO IT?!
Well, she also had her college graduation and birthday very recently too, both of which we were not in the same city for so...I kind of have like 3 things to make up for by the time Christmas comes. I doubt I'd get anything, although she gives me good beer and smokes me out all the time. I'd be happy with a blow job.
But yea, I figured like a $20-30 ornament would be good? (Im gunna get her some really good beer too, but that is kind of self serving tbh. she loves good beer more than I do)
Ive bought sherlock holmes for several people for gifts. Its a fantastic movie and available for cheap, plus who doesnt love RDJ.
also bought the BBC Sherlock series, just to see if I wanted it, now my dad wont give it back
Every year my Mom buys a new ornament for myself for the tree, and this year she picked me up a yellow submarine ornament with the little cartoon characters from the Yellow Submarine movie in front of it. I gotta say being a big Beatles fan, it's now my favorite ornament, so if you are both fans that might work out well. Additionally, like has been stated already ornaments really are something you use for 1/12th of the year unless you keep a small tree up year round like myself, so just an ornament might seem like a semi-lame gift, so maybe tack a little something else on with a great ornament and you'd be golden imo.
For a girl you just started dating, I wouldn't suggest spending much. $20 is a good price limit and places like Barnes and Nobles usually have special displays for gift ideas.
For a father, I'd hope you would know a hobby or two that he has. Just get something related to said hobby.
Personally, I think people get so wrapped up in getting the perfect gift that they miss all the obvious ones.
Bought my dad a keyboard cause typing on his is like fucking typing through silt.
Bought my mom a Snoopy globe cause she goes ballistic for Snoopy.
Bought my sister a loose-leaf tea starter set thingy cause she kind of gives off the vibe she'd enjoy it.
Still dunno what to get my best friendwon't see her till the 8th cause she's on vacation in fucking Australia, bitch ditched me

and yea, I already got some nice beer as a gift too (believe me, its appropriate).
Yeah Zoolander, that's the one I got. Anyways, I'm glad my parents and brother all just tell me what they want, it makes my holiday shopping much easier. What's even better is, this year they all were okay with dvds or blu rays (Inception for bro/pop and the older Harry Potter films for my Mom), so I got all my presents for them at one store.
