What's Better?

Recently started nin back up after several years of doing rdm and blm so want to do it right.
Question one, what is currently the overall best ring combo for TPing in? Rajas/Epona? Heed/Epona? Or something else? Dropped tamas for rajas(second time dropping so 27 day wait to get rajas back again).
I guess question two would be overall what a good WS set? Working on empy and hope to finish at end of the month.

Rajas/epona's for tp. As far as ws sets go inside of abyssea just cap att and stack wsc mods as high as possible.

Unless you were trying to keep Hp low for migawari I'd use Pennon+1 over drone for any situation needing the former*. Better wind resist pieces exist if that's ever an actual goal in any situation

Drone costs a fraction of Pennon +1 (not to mention it actually exists) and the HP+ is kind of irrelevant given that you're wearing it for ~2 seconds. Either way, answer is Centaurus unless pDIF capped.

You can get a new +4 agi earring from synergy. I forget the name, but it's probably auster +1. Find a good synergist.

Sylvan Caban +1 or Osode for Sidewinder? Also, I just obtained a Clearview Earring....currently using Wilhelm/Altdorf for shooting and two Triumph earrings for Sidewinder....I know these are less than stellar items, but what's a good combo for shooting and WS now? Aside from the obvious +2 upgrade or the +3/4 STR earring, I'd like to revamp my shit a bit.

Caban+1 should win all the time, as far as your average damage goes. +14 r.acc on a WS that takes a pretty big r.acc penalty vs +0.5 and +0.32 WSC, +.5 fstr if you aren't capped, and 1 r.att.

Also, wouldn't Wildorf earrings be better than double Triumph for sidewinder anyways? Always +2 WSC and 4 r.acc vs +0.64 WSC, +1 fstr if you aren't capped, and 2 r.att. Two +4 STR earrings would be much more competitive, though.

That was probably pre-Wildorf earrings, let alone pre-abyseea, vulcan's earring and pearl. If you're just comparing 2xDrone vs 2xTriumph and you're somewhat guaranteed to not hit fSTR cap (Which was basically the standard conditions before level cap raise), then Triumph wins on Sidewinder (+1.64 total base D vs +1.5) and Drone wins on Slugshot (+1 fstr vs +1.8 WSC). But in abyssea you have to consider that you may be fSTR capped, so what was once effectively a 41% mod is now a 16% mod after a certain point, whereas AGI stays a 25% mod no matter what.

For Sidewinder, if you aren't fSTR capped: 3STR ~ 5AGI; if you are fSTR capped: 5STR ~ 3AGI.
For Slug Shot, if you aren't fSTR capped: 6 STR = 5 AGI; if you are fSTR capped: STR is only good for r.att

honestly ranged ws tp mods are pretty shit. marksmanship mods are agi only, while archery is a mix of str and agi. for example, slug shot is a 30% AGI mod, whereas sidewinder is 12% str, 25% agi. compare that with ukko's fury, which has a 60% str mod, or the y/g/k gkt ws, which are 75% mod.

like hobo said, the set earrings are gonna be better than triumphs, while the vulcan's pearls x2 would be more competitive. of course, a lot of it is gonna be dependent on atmas as well.

Bah, that's right, RA uses a different fSTR formula. IIRC, fSTR2 will cap at 16 more dSTR that fSTR of a same-rank melee weapon will, but it caps ~2x as high since its divided by 2 instead of 4?

Doesn't this make STR a better mod if you aren't capped even for WSes like Slug Shot that don't have a real STR mod? I mean, it's essentially 50% mod.
