Any math to back that up? When I calculate it I'm getting anguinus and ele belt coming up basically as a wash (ele belt wins, but it's within 10 damage of each other), and love torque is miles worse than gorget.

Same from my calculations (And I answered that question weeks ago). However, I found Anguinus won, but that depends on your ATT I suppose. I used 650 ATT in Abyssea (Not sure if that accurately reflects ATT during WS though). Also, don't forget that there are "tiers" to attack in selecting the pDIF equation. And the minor DA boost. If you do the belt calculation, be sure to include fTP from gorget + DA/TA. You should have at least 17-19% DA prior to belt.

Which of the following are the best Atmas for Cataclysm on PLD?

1) Atma of the Smiting Blow(TP Bonus+100)
2) Atma of the Cosmos(Dark Damage+40%)
3) Atma of the Ultimate(Magic Attack Bonus+50)
4) Atma of the Griffonclaw(Two-Handed Weapon Skill Damage+20%)


I was told Smiting/Cosmos/Griffonclaw but isn't 50 MAB roughly equal to +50% Magic Damage which would be better than +20% WS dmg wouldn't it? And does the fTP going from 2.75 to 4.0 a more of an impact than having say a MAB+30 atma?

MAB is a multiplier so it's not +50% (that and pld can still use all jobs MAB gear). Smiting Blow will have more of an impact than MAB+30 iirc.

It's roughly . . .

(MABa+MABp)/(MABp) = 20% Increase (1.2)

(50+MABp)/(MABp) = 1.2
50+MABp = 1.2MABp
50 = 0.2MABp
MABp = 250

I agree with these conclusions. Anguinus Belt is the best WS belt in the game in most cases if your Attack is uncapped... and Love Torque came out behind Flame Gorget too, though this might be different if you are getting the last 5 points of dDEX from teh DEX or something. Crit math is annoying.
