At 300%, it's a 2x damage boost. Other values are uncertain as far as I've seen.

ok, so i'm unearthing my ranger. it's 75, and most of the gear i had is either outdated or woefully lacking now. i'm working towards a harrier +2, and ammo is not an issue. other than that, what should i be wearing for tp, sidewinder, arching arrow, and eventually jishnu's radiance?
also, what atmas? does arching arrow crit enough that it's worth using over sidewinder? i'd guess that RR/GH/stout arm would be best, tho if arching isn't worth using, RR would probably be better replaced by sea daughter or VV?
thanks!
Is beir belt/+1 a synergy synth or just a regular pop-it-in-a-crystal synth?
In general, the spot you want to switch out for DNC is the body. Also, friends logged in tonight so I didn't do any Saber Dance testing.
I'm trying to test Subtle Blow on Dancer right now and am kind of confused about my result. I think that it's indicating I have 20 Subtle Blow instead of 15 now. If someone can tell me a slicker way to test this, I'd love to. Testing setup:
Caduceus, no gear, Battalia on DNC/BST with a RDM mule to Phalanx 2 me.
10 hits gives the monsters 40 TP without gear.
10 hits gives the monsters 25 TP with +35 Subtle Blow (AF3+2 body, AF3 neck, Heed, Rajas, Slither, Subtle Blow +3 augmented Gules Leggings)
If I had 15 Subtle Blow before, 40/.85 = ~47 TP
If I had 20 Subtle Blow before, 40/.8 = 50 TP
With capped Subtle Blow, 25/.5 = 50 TP
So I guess that means I have 20 Subtle Blow before gear?
Assuming you didn't overlook anything, DNC got subtle blow IV (20%) at 85, which would be in line with their other bumps (25, 45, 65).
If so, might be worth checking if MNK and NIN got their due bumps at 85 and 90 respectively.
It actually didn't get it at 85, which was why I tried to test it again (at least at the 85 patch). The AGI patch confounded my first test though, and I just remembered to go back and test it now. They may have retroactively ninja-patched it in at 85, but it wasn't there before Heroes was released for sure.
2.25 base fTP, 3 additional hits, 4 extra hits from two triple attacks = 9.25 effective fTP max
Assuming all 8 hits crit for max pDif of 3.15, plus RR crit damage bonus and capped Impetus augment putting you at +50% crit damage, you get a total of 43.70625x base damage (or 41.625 if you take the average 3.0 crit pDif at capped cRatio)
Verethragna d+35, skill base of 44, and fStr of 12, total non-WSC damage is 91
Max str of perhaps somewhere around 150 (base and gear) + 70 (cruor with zone bonus) + 50 (VV) + 30 (etudes and food) = 300, giving WSC of 153
Total base damage of 244, times the 43.70625 multiplier gives potential max damage of about 10,664; using the 3.0 pDif, 10,156.
Chance of getting 8 crits (RR+Apoc atma and Epona's Ring): about 1 in 4270; never mind the odds of it happening with capped crit damage bonus and pDif, and that you won't over-kill the mob and lose damage from non-registered hits. But in theory, about 10k is possible.
Add in another 700 str from brew and you can get another ~15k damage from higher WSC, so a max bew potential of about 25k.
i use XBCD http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html#download along with joy2key http://electracode.com/4/joy2key/Joy...%20Version.htm to get all my buttons working.. Joy2key i use more for the ability to make the bumper and back button (select button?) into basic macros.. like utsu casting or on my rdm i use the back button for composure buffs on myself.. If you don't need that sort of capability you can just use xbcd setup with "triggers as buttons" setting. You can also setup the buttons a bit better with the config that comes with it
Not sure if this has been covered anywhere but ... .
Can Azdaja Dispel brew?
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread but I installed ffxi on windows 7 and got the game to run but when I downloaded Windower 3.42 it doesnt launch with the mandragora symbol. Instead it just loads pol.exe regular. Any ideas or suggestions for this problem? I tried running it on admin. TY!
Any suggesting for cleaving mobs in Abyssea Kon? all the mob types seem like horrible choices....
The AGI reduction is factored after SB in a separate stage (or I wouldn't be able to get 25 TP fed with Caduceus.) I repeated the test this morning with +30 Subtle Blow in gear and got the same 25 TP fed, so we have 20 SB base.
And freaking A @Stearc Subligar. Brygid quests are NOT my idea of a good time. Is doing them on one job dramatically easier than others because of armor choices?
Can you get red !! proc on your first action, claiming a mob?
As in could I go into shinryu on thief/ranger and cyclone from far away then either:
1) Die out of range, RR, wait on weak, try again
2) Have red procced, pop brew and kill.
Would that work? If not, what about if I /ra'd once then cycloned whilst he walked towards me?
On a similar point, I've read on alla drg's soloing blue by going in, WSing for message, if it's a polearm one then use it > pop brew > kill, if it's not, die out of range, RR and repeat untill it is polearm then proc>brew>kill. Way I see it if you were solo is that wouldn't you die whilst trying to proc the 4 polearm WSs? Or would you pop brew immidiately if it's polearm then try the blue WSs then kill?
If they're willing to burn a brew on it, they're probably willing to burn a few TP-gaining and Physical/magical shield temp items. But yeah, I imagine that strategy is heavily dependent on luck and generally not worth doing (especially on dragoon. If you're going to limit yourself to one weapon type, at least go Thief for TH! Sheesh!)
Well, or the obvious answer. They WS it once or twice and get a Polearm message and then pop a brew and it keeps them alive.
