I've read about people using the magian trial log to "stop time" under a brew to blow up multiple NMs under one brew. My friend attempted this last night in Abyssea - Altep, but for love nor money couldn't make his log appear using the glasses, and, when I tried, neither could I. Strangely he summoned it just fine in Abyssea - Vunkerl, but in Altep it just wouldn't happen. Can you not do this in Heroes zones?

Yea, they are borked in certain zones, and are not really good for holding timers since they depop and event skip you after 45 seconds.

Can anyone provide me with what a good modern day NIN TP and WS set would be? I've decided to dust off the job, but haven't exactly kept up with what's the best for it now out of all the Abyssea gear and ToMs.

I rarely play on my blm, so I haven't noticed much. Isn't it true that to proc sorc ring you just need whatever you use to proc outside to proc it inside? It works off base hp regardless of cruor HP buff?

Yes. Equip -hp set, and cancel hp boost, and it'll be active.

Is there a MND cap on Paralyze / Slow? Have no problems landing them so I've just been stacking more and more MND gear.

I was thinking of brewing Shinryu's for a Twilight Torque solo as MNK, but I have a couple of questions...

1: is the drop rate on torque at all decent without blue? first fight it was a bitch getting blue to proc, I had to do each WS like 5 times to finally trigger the weakness... even Earth Crusher took 3 times once we narrowed it down with discernment... most WS looked clean...

2: That said, is there any trick to timing it? It seemed like pure luck... I basically would hit the WS from menu in the middle of it's attack animation, or immediately as it was finishing... Sometimes it would cast/WS immediately after or double attack, but this was usually not the case.

3: Fight 100% safe solo w/ brew assuming Doom Screen and Terror Screen?

1. drop rate is good, but your a mnk so get the blue proc.
2. you timing is bad. spells can mess up a ws, but they aren't often enough to really be a prob. every attack shinryu does is either a cast or a tp move. ws when he's not doing something...otherwise, he's doing something and you can't proc. if you miss/fail/don't get a hint just keep going down the list. not every ws will give a hint, and it had nothing to do with being clean. if your not getting any hints with staff move on to the next weapon. in my experiance you are more likely to get a hint if you match the element/weapon type as the correct proc.
3. no. and if your having trouble now getting proc's you have a very low chance of doing dmg to shinryu wings out.

My logic is, if you WS when he's not doing something - the WS will fire off as he's entering an attack animation - no? I was aiming to WS right at the very end of his animation.

Aside from wings - what else would cause the fight to go bad?

The other question I mean to ask is - does he start in the "safe to brew" mode, or do you need to toy with him a bit first?

I'm doing the wind staff trial, and I'd like to know what do you think is the fastest way to solo the 200 rabbits trial: goblin pets in bibiki or rabbits in Abyssea La Theine? I'd go as SCH90, since I don't have BLM. MM/Ultimate/Gales would be my atmas, inside of abyssea, and I'm pretty much sure that my Aero V's would oneshot the goblin pets outside.

What's the repop time of Goblim BST pets, by the way? I's been ages since I did some pet nuking when I leveled SCH. Also, which option would be better if I paired with a SMN that also need rabbit kills but needs Garuda killshot?

I've heard some back-and-forth stuff on Kilas. I was pretty set on str, just wanted to do a last double check before I head down that path since I'm not a catTHF

In the event that you want Accuracy, it's hard to beat a DEX Kila +2. There are currently very few places where you want Accuracy. Unless you're killing Flame Skimmer, that bastard Tonberry in Konschtat, or the Ladybug NM in Altepa, you probably shouldn't be considering a DEX Kila +2.

Repop on BST pets is iirc a minute? Either way Aby-La Theine or Misareaux would be better in both instances.

What should I gear towards for Aeolian Edge on NIN?
