You can have up to 5 trials going simultaniously but you cannot have the same trial on two of the same weapon (i.e. two dex daggers can't be on the same trial) at the same time.

Along the same lines, I've been told that you can proc red on Arimaspi's summoned pets to force key item, since you can't force red on Arimaspi itself. Is this true?

Tier 1 VNM's are usually accepted as giving bonus lights to pearl and amber, probably 5 minimum. There is debate as to whether or not they give bonus azure lights though. My personal experiences suggest no bonus azure lights.
