Only thing to watch out for on levaithan is he gets a potent poison aura, which can kill you after grand fall if you get unlucky, and he has Final Attack Tidal Wave, which wiped us the first time.
So, gimmicky, but not actually hard.
Everything on the wiki is exaggerated, or more correctly, written by people with no atmas/cruor buffs/food/Magical buffs/Fulltime counterstance+Zerk while in full AF and wondering why they take 2k damage from a level 94+ NM at level 77. Could Trio Glavoid fairly easily WHM DD (Brd recommended, possibly not needed, just keep bodies in range for disgorge so it doesn't one shot tank if they have below ~2.5k hp and aren't at full health), possibly duo. Just don't heal him when he's casting/using tp move, not that hard to avoid if you're paying attention.
Wait, you can store sea weapons? I thought it was armor only.
Yes, you can. You can store Perdu weapons too.
EDIT: Just look at this if you have questions on what is storable: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Ta...z:orter_Moogle
Hi guys, i came back recently after a 2 months break i've seen a lot of shit has been discovered and documented about abyssea and i still don't know many things. The matter is, i want to farm glavoid pops and i read many of you mentoning fell cleaving mandis/bats which seems awesome idea so i tried it, problem arise at the first step: capping lights. I'm not really sure how to cap them fast enough to not get kicked out, how do you do it? ephemeral mobs? i only managed to see one eph limule, where the fuck are the other ones? The other option i read it's killing 6-8 vnm but killing 8 vnm T1 didn't get my lights capped.Any help is welcome.
Tahrongi is weird. Emphemerals only pop if people killing monsters. Enter, cap your pearl and Azure on VNMs or normal NMs (we used like 5x Lacovie once or twice), cap your Amber on Sandworms, go cleave. Don't be afraid to take a break from building lights to do a pull or two for time between VNMs and Sandworms, though you shouldn't waste too much time at this stage because you'll end up with like 700+ minutes after cleaving no matter what you do. However, you'll have an easier time overall if you take my advice below:
If you're back for the first time in months, then you need to update your Abyssites. http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Category:Abyssite
Abyssites to get: Lunar, Kismet, Furtherance, Sojourn, Merit, Fortune, Destiny, and Celerity abyssites. Reapers also wouldn't hurt, if that's not enough for you.
Make sure you have decent Atmas. WAR would be Razed Ruins, Voracious Violet, (Apocalypse ideally, but unrealistically for someone who has recently returned), Chloris or Bria's Atmas work okay for cleaving, and maybe grab an STP Atma of your choice.
Have people learn when they can melee, WS, or Nuke to not heal it, healers to keep the tank(s) at full hp, and have enough people in range to not have disgorge one-shot said tank(s).
Heals magic when doing magic, heals melee when doing abilities
I've always found finishing it off with nukes easier under 25% as it is more likely to spam TP moves and there is a min time between when it can cast spells.
Don't be one of those groups that cannot kill it because the melee pile on to "finish it off" and end up healing it more then hurting it the last 25%.
While we're on the topic, are you sure VNM work for azure? Last three times I entered canyon for cleaves I killed 10-12 T1 VNM with azure and was getting 500exp chests, I always just found it easier to kill EP mobs quickly seeing as they can be one shotted by a decent blm.
I came to the same conclusion, honestly. In the end I would just melee bats down to ~10% and the mage would kill them from there. I don't know that they give enhanced lights at all in Tahrongi really. They're just nice for pearl because they're 100%.
you have to kill a lot more than that. we used NMs, VNM t1s, and the ephemeral that hangs by the mandies to cap lights, forgoing normal mobs completely. we were super slow and it took about 90 minutes duo maybe? definitely cleave mandies and not bats, having 0 ruby light will give you a forest of blue and giant gold with very very little red. as time wears on, every last bit of efficiency will prevent you from tearing out your hair. tahrongi is a hellhole.
Oh yeah theyre great for pearl no doubt, I do the same though, go to mandy or bats and melee them down with a blm friend nuking to finish.
I always thought I was doing something wrong when it came to azure on the vnm, glad I'm not
Edit: @solanis - Why mandies and not bats? just because they hit for less and feed you more tp or? I always figured bats were easier seeing as theyre easier to pull.
We've been using Coeurls a decent amount as well as mandies. They don't give Ruby, and they're less prone to gimpshit exp parties moving in on them. Bats are a no-no if you're using a MNK because they take half damage from Darkness WS. Tahrongi's not so bad if you just clock up 1,000+ minutes and sleep in it to prevent re-doing the shitfest that is rebuilding every light. I haven't left the zone in 3 days and I'm on track to finish Vereth 80 in a couple hours. Getting about 16-18 buds a day with a Thf and Whm friend fulltime, then other linkshell mates on random jobs to leech exp/cruor and hold pop sets. Really once you manage to cap your lights and avoid Ruby on anything (3 days with only 5 total rubies is hot), Tahrongi becomes much much easier to deal with. The only hard part has been finding Non-EX gear to shove onto my friends so I can hold all 50 buds <_<
Thanks for the answer guys i was really getting so freaked out about not having azure capped after 8 vnm lol... next time i will try capping azure on mandis or w/o awesome post byrt <3
Tyvm, I'm actually kind of excited and looking forward to do the h2h and GA now, lol.
One more question on the topic, pulling. Since mandies don't link, best to just have the rdm run around and grab a bunch with diaga? I'm kind of worries about the rdm dying or something before I can get the first cata off, idk. I guess I can have a mandy ready on mnk, so I can ws as soon as all the mandies get in range. I just hate how the mobs all screw around when you have a ton of them bunched up, makes it really hard to ws, at least from my experience.
Also, thanks for the info on the T3 VNMs. What's this "Final Attack Tidal Wave"? Did the person just mean it uses tidal wave, or is it some kind of special version that does a ton more damage? Does Ifrit also have a version? <_< Thanks
Our RDM(s) just run around and diaga with random DEF/Regen/PDT atmas on, Def food, and /BLU for cocoon. Lacovie's Atma was pretty helpful for our Taru RDM friend (no force on this earth can keep him alive on most things). He gets his face raped when Phalanx falls but generally that only happens if he stops paying attention and the WHM is out of range. Whenever I get the occasional resist on Cata and have 1-3 mobs remaining at low HP%, I'll just TP on those till the next pull comes in. We also get a ton of Fanatic's Drinks and Fanatic's Powders from chests, so we just have myself or the mages pop them if anything looks dicey.
