This may be a stupid question, but I have nothing better to do.

My char got stuck on Joachim CS (I think it was just at -the end- of the CS) after talking to Prishe after defeating Shinryu. Lost my internet connection and when I got back it just displays "Downloading Data..." (like when you zone) and after 2 minutes or so it times out and says "Couldn't connect to server, bla bla" (like when you can't get your char log in).

Tried several times, restarted, etc. Logged in a mule and placed a GM call. I had never placed a GM call, so the question is:

How long do they usually take to answer? Close to an hour now and still waiting...

I had an issue similar to this and when the GM finally got to me, he said to do a flushdns. I thought he was full of shit, but after still not being able to log into my main, I tried it, and was able to get in. No idea what my dns cache would have to do with logging into one character and not another but if it works...

start > run > cmd > ipconfig/flushdns > log in again.

I got a GM within 5 minutes by claiming to be stuck when I wanted Turul unglitched. There's no easy way to report when things glitch in the game (like Turul), so I took some metaphorical liberties with the definition of "stuck" and decided that Turul being unagroable counted. I was stuck, in that my advancement in the game was halted by being unable to obtain Loki's Kaftan.

Anyway, it's the easiest GM case to handle by far (hurr-de-hurr, hit the D2 button), so I imagine GMs cherrypick them. There's also something of a time limit, as your position will be reset after 30 minutes if a GM doesn't get to you first. The GM didn't really appreciate my metaphorical interpretation of the word "stuck," but he was apologetic about Turul (though he didn't fix it) and I don't think there will be any repercussions.

Way back when there was the issue with zoning randomly causing people to black screen and be unable to log back in (get stuck downloading data). I just did factory reset on my router, put correct info back in and it would allow me back on.

Finally could log in after almost two hours, no router reset or anything.

GM never answered, btw. I won't be surprised if they answer sometime later when I am really busy or something.

Hmm... can GMs notice I am using Windower? now I got worried .

Yup basically what others said. As your amber increases and you begin to get big chests the AHable pops turn into key items. You see this the same with the quality of meds - small chests will be ethers/potions/wings, while large will be fanatics, fools, high tier ether/potion.

Thanks to everyone who replied. About how many amber kills should we shoot for in order to maintain the AHable pop level?

Not sure if anyone else has this issue/hatred of avatars...

Having a summoned avatar engaged to the same mob as me basically puts me into a fit of rage. I hate they always find their way into my line of vision, I hate how they dart on and off my screen as they attack, I hate the massive view blocking wingspan of diabolos and I hate the annoying ass added effects they put on me (like Enblizzard, which makes me think I'm punching into Ice Spikes)... I get a sudden urge to cancel abyssea for a weak if someone in LS shows up on a SMN.

Since I don't wanna be a complete prick and job-ban people, is their a way to make the avatar .dats load at a smaller size?

first, why are people on smn if its a mob you can melee down?
second, deal with it. smn actually has the ability to leave their pets out now without it being a complete waste. this rates up there with bitching about a drg's flying rat. atleast in the flying rat version the rat doesn't contribute much in a normal fight (though that may have changed with the new abilities).

To answer the question I'm sure i've seen on ffxidats avatar dats for the original models without their lighting effects and i've also seen pixie-like replacements.

I remember hearing about this a while ago, it's some kind of bug. Once you have over 200 key items, or some number, you can no longer auto-translate it. Or something like that, I remember reading about it in some topic D:

GMs can't do anything about glitches. Relocating players who are genuinely stuck is one thing, but actual bugs are the developers' responsibility. Technical support isn't what GMs are for, either.

For how much they mock GMs, it amazes me that so much of the player base itself does not even understand what they are there for, and why there is a separate Support Site.
