@ Nightfire: ANGRY
DA has diminishing returns, but it's not because of the gear you give up. It's because you can't DA a DAed hit. What does that mean? Think about it this way. If you gain 1% DA and DA, in order to prove that the 1%DA mattered, you need to prove not only that DA would have proced, but that it would have not proced if you didn't have that 1% DA.
Lets say you start with 5DA and do 100 hits. Five of those hits should DA. That means in order for any extra DA to matter, it needs to affect the other 95 hits. That then means you have 5% DA for 95 instead of 100 hits. That number is going to be less than the 5%DA applying to 100 hits.
Also, DA on body isn't applicable because of Mintan+2.
Edit: Night, why would you use Apoc on BLU though? RR/GH/SS works well for melee situations because we get zero critical hit damage boost outside of atmas. VV/RR/Minikins for spell spam.
Serious question:
Twilight mail or Perle Hauberk for WAR in Abyssea. Assume access to all normal DD Atma.
Before you castrate me, do we really need 25 accuracy in Abyssea?
Side note: Why the hell is Warrior not on Twilight Belt!?
Loki's Kaftan. Even without it, Apoc is beating SS by a good 12% even with RR/GH as my other atmas. Swap out GH for MM or VV and Apoc pulls further ahead. Add Loki's back in, still more.
Remember, you're getting a 15.4% increase in critdmg by going from 30% to 50% and that's on ~half your hits, 74% with GH. Apoc is adding a shitton of attacks you didn't have previously, which will also be able to crit, and it's increasing WS frequency. Also, more aftermath procs.
EDIT: Just swapped out the Almace, Apoc is still over 10% ahead.
Best (insidea abyssea) general TP setup for THF? I was thinking somethin along the lines of this.
I had +2 body/hands in there at one point, but figured Loki's would be a bigger improvement. I haven't kept up on THF gear in a while, so it's possible I'm missing some things.
At what point let's say does +STR beat out +Scythe skill for weapon skills? Basically I'm looking at optimizing Guillotine without taking into consideration available atmas, and looking at the Rekka Hachimaki VS Hecatomb Cap.
For WS, yes... If MP/hitrate isn't an issue, I'd TP in it too with Zelus Tiara covering the loss of haste.
EDIT: Misread. TA takes priority over DA, so there is a sort of loss but not as bad as it would be if it was the reverse. Also, how is DA Khanda going to affect TA's value?
Obviously for WS. I just did not see 10% TA doing that much much damage considering that you're stacking 35-40% DA on BLU (Even if it procs before DA, it's less dmg than it would have been w/o all that DA).
Edit: To further explain, I mean that if DA had a chance to proc where TA does (i.e. their procs overlap), you're only gaining the benefit of one hit really.
Okies, just wondering. I'd like to know myself as well. I just recently got Apoc so relevant to me now.
When you switch to 1h axes to use a decent WS. And for the example you gave, Hecatomb cap would utterly destroy the Hachimaki in all situations. 11 STR gives 8-9 attack, 5 skill gives 4-5 attack, so you've got a 4 attack lead before even factoring in the WSC mods.
In the more general case of STR vs Skill, it's hard to pinpoint exactly where without just plugging it into some assumed numbers for mob def/VIT, but if STR is a WS mod, I wouldn't even consider skill unless it was 10+ skill vs. 2-3 STR, which frankly is just unrealistic.
Just wondering if theres any clear opinion of how the abyssite of discernment works. Theres always a debate in our linkshell on this. When you get the message "the mob is weak to <x>" after you try to proc, does that mean that spell/ws isnt the correct one. Or is the message irrelevant?
How many people to do KS99s for black belt items without risking a loss? Anything worth mentioning about the fights?
It doesn't run at flee speed, it's closer to mazurka speed. It's easy to kite around various rocks in gusta. You won't avoid every spell (or rather if you do, it'll depop), but it's very easy to survive. I've soloed it a dozen+ times.
It casts a lot of shitty nukes (stone, etc) which do far less damage. Thunder still does quite a bit of damage obviously, but it casts more than that, as you mentioned. Also, it tends to spam sleepga during cs. it's not uncommon for it to cast it 5+ times in a row, which even without poison makes it pretty easy to survive.
If you can't handle shog solo, then suck less?
I speed hack to 12% while soloing, since i don't have wlegs. That's it, nothing more. Really not sure why you think i flee hack my solos, just because i said i speed hack once with no context of what i use it for.Originally Posted by Drwaffles
