is okyupet normally a dick to make pop? First nm ive gotten to that's taken this long.
It should be said, a WHM, BLM/BRD and BLU/NIN can cover all yellows. Its assumed you will have a WHM for curing.
Perhaps the person was being a moron (I never checked to make sure they were doing things correctly), but when I asked someone to come BLM/BRD, they mentioned they could not land threnody with ES. It should also be mentioned that even if it does work, you're limited to a 10min timer if it turns out to be threnody (Not necessarily an issue unless one out of three NMs has threnody as their yellow proc).
Has anyone mathed out the benefit of Counter over other stats?
Specifically speaking, assume Tantra+2 head and legs w/ Black Belt for 25% haste... MNK always has counterstance up, and uses Perfect Counter every 60 seconds. Also assume the MNK always has hate.
Would Ultion Mantle outdo the Attack+20, DA+3% mantle here? If not, would it at least outdo Forager's?
How about Usukane Gote over attack gloves?
For Abyssea, Atma is usually RR/VV/GH.
Anyone know what could be causing my computer to freeze every so often at the sight of Stone V?
It only happens sometimes, And it only seems to happen on some days. Its odd, Some days I'll try to play FFXI and it will repeatedly get "FFXI has encountered an error and needs to shut down" message. It can be with a low man group, non-lowman, It seems to happen almost completely at random but if it does it once it seems to become an immediate pattern the rest of the night constantly disconnecting me.
And so days, even doing the exact same activities, theres no problems at all, i can play the entire day....
I seem to notice when it starts happening its usually the activation of a job ability, or a specific spell that will disconnect me.
My brother suggest my Graphics card may be shitting itself and its time to replace it, but would a graphics card failing cause "FFXI Encountered an error" etc error message?
I thought about putting this in tech but didn't wanna start a new thread for it, Figure random is random here.
Does anyone know if progress notes on assault books for Mythic quest are still use-able if you switch to a different Mythic?
I macro ultion mantle for the duration of PC. Outside of that, you're still swinging along with countering, so the att/DA is adding to your overall damage.
With an optimal build, you should be able to use ultion mantle with berserk+RCB+Dia III. Although you can get away with even YCB(RCB helps with zerk down) on most exp mobs.
The question is if the added damage from the mantle on counters outweighs the 3% DA on atheling. With your atma combos I think DA could be doing more, than some of the other atma combos with Apoc and sometimes A&O. Ppl have been testing out the priority on which takes first TA or DA(from reading nothing has been tested reliably yet).
Motenten might be able to spread some more light on that, since iirc he did testing on the ultion mantle.
This is something I've wondered for years. Why do mages almost never cast enfeebling magic anymore? I barely ever see para, blind or slow at the very least. Just find it odd almost nobody takes the extra effort to cast something that isn't a cure or nuke. Maybe its a server thing...
I'm pretty lax when it comes to telling mages to enfeeble mobs. However, I especially notice paralyze if someone does cast it.
I think it's more of a role thing. For the longest time, RDMs were always around to enfeeble, while WHM focused on curing. With RDM getting pushed aside a bit (Refresh II isn't really needed, Cure V, Cure VI, Convert on subs, etc...) I think you wind up with a lot of WHMs and BLMs who are used to enfeebling being "someone else's job".
I'm more worried that I still need to ask for Haste - and that happens a lot with me as the lone melee/tank.

We were fighting Bennu the other night, I was on BLM, and it took me a few minutes to even realise we didn't have a RDM with us. "Guess i'd better enfeeble the thing" I thought, and begrudgingly put slow and para on it.
I've never noticed such a trend. Then again, i usually try to avoid pick up groups, so meh. I mean, i guess most blms won't enfeeble, and admittedly i rarely ever do on blm myself (though i do carry a decent bit of mnd gear, and have macros for it), but i've never seen too many rdms that wouldn't enfeeble, and even whms often do if there's no rdms around.
On RDM, I forget other people exist. I once had all macros as <me> for enhancing magic. No joke.
This has been the norm for 80% of the population since time immemorial. It's definitely more pronounced now, however, since WHMs are more useful in most low-man situations than RDMs and I can't name any WHM other than myself that I've seen cast Slow/Paralyze regularly. Since I'm /BLM all the time on WHM now I've even started casting Blind and Poison II when appropriate.![]()

What compounds the issue, in my experience at least, is the fact that the majority of content is just so awfully easy at this stage of the game. Some of the best, quickest, most attentive Whms I know may still never cast a single Enfeeble on a mob unless they're spamming Dia for Discernment, and have to be held at gunpoint to cast Haste once an hour. As long as Cures and status ailments are taken care of in proper fashion, it's pretty much impossible for my Mnk to eat dirt. So they don't seem to feel any need to do more than that, no matter what level mob or NM we're fighting. You know something's up when you're rocking fulltime Marches but don't have Haste.
Maybe when/if SE releases more challenging content, this will change again and Enfeebles/Buffs will take on a more vital role. Personally though, I don't particularly mind being able to Skillchain with my Almace buddy for a total of over 20,000 Dmg and 1-shot T1 NMs.
