Point of the thread, anyone know a way to cure, or check if i have possibly damaged my ears?

Also anyways to prevent this would be appreciated, although im not the biggest fan of using earplugs, just feel it almost muffles the sound?
It's a matter of having earplugs that contour to specifically eliminate harmful frequencies without completely muffling the sound. These are a cheap set of earplugs intended to do that:

There are ear plugs around $150-200 that you can get molded to your ear that are much better and don't really degrade the sound quality, but this is more in mind for musicians / dj's etc. If you go out often enough they're a worthy investment.

It's a thing some kids do (or did) in schools so that they can keep their phones on, but their teachers won't hear the high-pitched ringtones. I remember reading about it a year or two ago.

The upper threshhold of what we can hear diminishes as we get older. Kids at 16 can hear much higher frequencies than adults in their 30s, and adults in their 50s hear less than adults in their 30s.
Yeah I've heard of this. A friend once had an iphone app that did something similar and tried walking through a library to test it. Seeing who turned their heads was pretty interesting.

I have tinnitus sometimes and whenever I go to a club I'm literally deaf, I lost the ability to filter speech channels while music is playing so even when my friends scream in my ear I can't understand a thing, I have to text.

I had a friend scream in my ear once at a local show and that was the last time I didn't put my finger in my ear before they tried to do it again. I felt deaf after that. <_<

I used to get the ringing in ears for a few days after going to concerts when younger - it gradually died away to nothing.

Having said that - now my hearing is fucked, but it's mainly because I've had a sucession of ear infections my idiot GP fobbed me of over - resulting in one so bad it popped the shit outta my ear drum and now everytime I get a cold I end up with tinnitus/deafness in ears for a month or so.

It's shite - I'd actually put the volume limiter on my walkman back then if I'd known how badly my hearing would end up fucked to be honest - it actually does affect my ability to work and everything when it's at its worst.

I listen to deafening music almost every time I walk anywhere or drive anywhere. People routinely make comments about how obnoxiously loud my music is. My headphones go up to ~112db and I crank it up all the way at times. I must be lucky as shit, I have no hearing problems whatsoever. I kinda wish I did. Passive conversations that I pick up on every day in public make me want to slaughter, augh.

I picked up a cheap pack of foam ear plugs at Walmart and it's so much nicer after concerts not having ringing in your ears for forever.
