No, space is not cold. Technically, temperature isn't even defined in space (because temperature is the average kinetic energy of the material). The only working definition one could come up with is the temperature a body in space would need to be at to reach thermal equilibrium with its surroundings. But that varies depending on the material (and how reflective it is, if it's near a star). The kool-aid main would cool down, but not because it's cold, but because he'd lose energy as the kool-aid evaporated.
If you put a human being in space, he wouldn't freeze or even feel that cold. He may feel slightly cool due to the moisture on his skin evaporating. He'd lose energy at a very slow rate.
We've actually done this before in (accidental) experiments where a human being was left unprotected in a vacuum.
So if I shoot a bullet through a space shuttle everything inside doesn't get sucked out through that tiny hole?
