Yeah, XIV shouldn't have been reviewed yet. Too much instant gratification. Reviewers and players should have just kept paying for those subs until whenever SE got their shit together.

My only problem is that I want to play this game. I paid for it, I want to play it, I want them to add content that's enjoyable. I might check out Tera and ArchAge but no other game looks appealing to me. I'm patient, however, this doesnt change the fact that time is working against SE and each day when the game doesnt get better just puts the whole project closer to being scraped. Servers are dying already, even the forums are dead, look at the 14 forums on this site. Besides flame/news thread nothing gets much attention.

Cichy, I think you are overreacting a bit. Servers and forums may be dying, but a lot of people bought the game. I'm pretty sure most decided to just sit back and do something else while waiting. After all, we have already paid some money, you would be kinda dumb for not trying the game out when it's fixed. Most will give SE that chance, because most are/were FF11 players, and we are used to this in a way lol.

I don't know about this. The majority of people on here, ZAM, core, etc all share the same complaints about the game. The difference being the mouthbreathers you speak of get chased out of BG instantly.

For the most part, discussion is much more enjoyable/constructive on ZAM and core.

I'm curious as to what you consider the stupidest choices. Don't get me wrong, there are some obviously pointless choices when compared to given alternatives, but I'm still curious what you think they are and what kind of impact you think they might have.

As Elrina pointed out, there are some pointless choices, but there are a lot of good choices as well. This is probably because the game is so shitty, that it lacks in every aspect, so people wanted to pick several choices. That's why the poll results may be a little "off".

My question is, why would they make this poll? Are they already fixing some obvious mistakes, while waiting for the results, or are they actually taking their time to plan while waiting for the results?

You're seriously crossing into elitist territory on this one. Anyone who pays for the game and pays a subscription fee has a right to have their voice heard. You make it sound like you pay more or have a greater stock in the game simply because you view your choices as superior to some sub-intellectual majority.

Edit: good humor on the update. I'd like to see some opo-opo's with suits and ties on behind typewriters.

I like the humor too, but I'd like it a whole lot more if it came with some actual information regarding what their intentions were. Even if it was something like saying they would announce the results of the poll (and what their intentions are as a result of the poll) after the deadline.

I imagine they must have had some kind of loose plan regarding what they were going to do for the different potential results they would get from the survey, if it really does mean anything and will have as large an impact as those questions sounded it might (an overhaul of fundamental game systems? would we welcome changes that would drastically alter the rules already set in place in Eorzea?). By now they must be scanning the results and have a good idea of what they're going to end up as. So giving us (at least some of) that information would be a good idea on their part (I think), and telling us now that they plan to would at least let us know solid information was coming and when, rather than simply a deadline for the poll another week away with some humor in it and nothing else.

The point of a survey is to gather the opinions/viewpoints/desires of others. Again, new team, HOPEFULLY new ideas.

Opinions are subjective. Somebody who views their opinions as fact is worse than somebody whose opinions are 'shitty'.

That was actually Hyan's response to me, which I asked first (just making sure you've read all the posts). I know what a survey is for, but then again they are using an awful a lot of time just deciding what to do. I mean there are so much to fix in FF14, that it's almost irrelevant what the poll results shows.

Well, yeah. It'll either be harmful or pointless, although it sure makes people feel like they are being "heard", but is this a good thing again? ZAM's latest "excellent" article brings up how the playerbase and the sidelines once again may think that this poll is somehow a bad sign.

The funny thing is that everyone's opinion was already heard (if they didn't post on some lame site like mmorpg.com), yet now they can fill out a simple x, y, z poll to give feedback directly (but do they even read them!? Conspiracy theories ftw). What has really changed? Not much, although it does worry me at least that Yoshida seems to be more adamant about hearing the mouthbreathers that are surely larger in numbers than the informed people. And hell, it is completely understandable too, nothing elitist about it. If he goes too far with this "everyone's opinion is valuable" shit, that is bad for the game as is living in a vacuum.

Of course we can also believe that people are not idiots. lol.

Here we can also see that no matter how much they do in regards to communication, we want more. There is a point where it is not worth it anymore, and I hope we are not past that line yet and this is a genuinely useful poll in some way.

XI's future is open, XIV's future is open; they would be stupid not to held one, especially if they have anything more substantial (overhauls) to announce.

But yes, if they announce it on the 14th it'll probably be held in Feb the earliest.
