My take is this: Yeah, it's stupid to drink and drive but there's something to be said for empathy. I'm saddened by his death, but I'm much more saddened by the fact that he has family and friends left behind to grieve. Those are the people my heart goes out to. We know driving drunk is stupid, they know it's stupid, hell, surely he knew it was stupid. Yes, it was a bad decision, and it was stupid. That's a no-brainer. That doesn't mean that people can't look past that and give their hearts out to the people who loved him, who are right now shocked and devastated.

It sucks that he died this way, absolutely. 100% avoidable. And I'm sure no one knows that better than his family and friends, which surely makes it even worse for some of them. So yes, I am sad, for those people. They loved him and he is gone. That's not easy for anyone no matter how they go. So yeah, I can look at it and shake my head about how dumb it was to drive drunk, but I can still be empathetic to those left behind.

BA over twice the legal limit. Has anyone sent an apology to Roger Ebert yet?

Mostly was directed at people saying shit like this:
    Yeah, keep flapping that jaw.
    Oh, wait
    Dick
I salute the loss of an epic man with an epic beard.
You know, giving shit to a decent human being who lost his face to cancer, for making a true (albeit somewhat insensitive) tweet about a guy who was driving 130 mph in a 55 mph zone with a BA of .196!

I understand mourning the death of the person, but I have no sympathy for the way he died. Fuck pussy footing around the truth just because somebody died.

Eh... Ebert has become more and more of an asshole over the last couple of years.

If he felt he was in the right, he wouldn't have deleted his tweet.

If Ebert had posted his tweet anonymously, the internet would have laughed. People are fucking hypocrite.

Ok but people die from these accidents every day. I don't understand why Ryan Dunn of all people has people getting all empathetic. When was the last time a "celebrity" received so much sympathy in this thread?

If he died of a drug overdose I'm sure it wouldn't get as much attention. the topic of drunk driving/ speeding has been the root of most of these discussions (also the unfair attention Dunn's getting is also another major talking point), but being a pop culture icon of sorts brings it to peoples attentions. Blame the situation, not the person for all the attention it's getting.

The bottom line is that he died in the midst of being a gigantic douche and potentially endangering the public... and it he took someone else to their grave with him. That kinda' overshadows him being a try-too-hard funnehguy with the rest of the Jackass/CKY posse... unless you're another adolescent that actually thought he was hilarious.

However, when a cooked body can be identified by its beard, it was an epic beard. Props for that... but that's about it. Perhaps his family/friends deserve some sympathy, but not him.
