eanae - get a calorie counting log like livestrong's myplate. the biggest (and, over-simplifying, only) step to losing weight is calorie counting. if you aren't doing it, you aren't losing weight as fast as you could. put in some info about yourself. ALWAYS choose the laziest lifestyle option, even if you run for an hour a day or something. then, remember the shit you eat and put it in the site. it will tell you how much you can eat a day, and keep track of how much you've eaten in a lot of different categories like calories, fat, sugars, proteins, sodium, etc. so you can track all that shit more easily.

diet >>>>> exercise for weight loss. both help, but diet is waayyy more important. you don't have to give up milk, dairy products, carbs, or whatever. dieting isn't about cutting things out completely...well except soda i guess lol. it's about everything in moderation. i'm on a diet. no one believes me because of the shit i order when i go to a restaurant, but i turn that into 3 meals by not stuffing my face with the whole plate of the food when i go, so it's not so bad. you don't have to drastically alter your eating habits. just eat less of what you eat now, and add veggies to fill your stomach without adding to your calories. when in doubt, eat more fiber and drink more water. they are both calorie-free and make you feel full for a while so you don't eat other crap.

i wouldn't worry about whether the weight you're losing is fat or water weight. you cut your sodium, so even if it's water weight, most of it won't come back unless you go nuts on sodium again. 2000-3000 sounds perfect to me. remember that sodium is important to your body, so going below 2000mg or so can be more harmful than not.
I already use livestrong, and it's probably the reason I've lost the weight I have.

While I do agree that grass-fed tastes better, "lean" isn't really a good quality for beef to have, unless you're just going to drown it in spices and make tacos out of it or something.

For health purposes it is better, not only that but grass-fed has more omega-3 fatty acids & good fats. I don't think it needs more spices or anything, the steaks & ribs from the grass fed that I eat is amazing. And less fat = less calories, so yea, it is for orphans and people who don't want as many calories.

I don't mind eating lean meat as much as most people since my parents worshiped that anti-fat craze in the 80's. I still prefer nice fatty cuts but my "tolerance" for lean meat would be handy for a diet.

Also your sentence should read "For health purposes it is better because it has more omega-3 ..."

I actually prefer lean meat, too much fat is kinda blegh to me.

I'm pretty weird though, I can't even eat much sweets because its too much sugar to me, but fruit? I'll eat a whole basket of fruit in one sitting if you let me. And I love vegetables sans peas and green legumes, I go nuts over things like brussel sprouts.

No you don't. No one loves vegetables. Especially anything involving peas. Peas are the product of an experiment God was doing when trying to figure out how to design hell. If Fear Factor involved eating peas, no one would win. Peas are pretty much the only reason aliens with superior technology are scared to invade Earth.

Spinach is probably one of the greatest things ever. I eat whole bowls of it at once, little ranch and it's lettuce but better for you. Getting to the point where I don't need to put ranch on it to eat it though, now that I'm more used to the taste.

    Hey now, i did say sans peas and green legumes. That means those are exceptions to the vegetable love I have. <_<;

And fuck yes to spinach, I love adding that stuff to my omelets.

Spinach is very good I agree. I despise peas as well. I dislike black-eyed peas, purplehull peas, butterbeans, lima beans. I don't like turnip greens either that is absolutely disgusting. I like pretty much anything else, especially squash.

My dad will put ketchup on butter beans My sister puts sugar and mayonnaise on them, disgusting.

talking about meat reminded me about this burger joint that sold kobe beef. it's awesome. fuck lean, boneless cardboard. lol

as for spinach I agree it rules. never really cared for green vegetables. I've learned to eat broccoli. lettuce was also ok with me but I've read it's virtually 0 in nutritional value. I recently tried spinach, I love it.

My bad, I just saw the word peas and my natural defenses/survival instincts kicked in because my subconscious thought I was in danger.

Spinach is fuckwin; not by itself, though. Spinach pizza/pasta/curry ftw.

Peas and bell peppers are the only vegetables which I cannot stand, because they taste like plague death and decay.

Bell peppers are awesome in scrambled eggs (with potatoes) and in stir fry. I even put them in my meatloaf sometimes.

Fuck yes! Asparagus (and cauliflower) fried in butter cheese = better than rice/potatoes/spaghetti combined.

Nothing better than pea soup filled with chunks of ham either.

Basically just don't go nuts and go back to eating the old shit that got you the weight ON in the first place... simples. Keep up activity levels, keep eating relatively sensibly and that's about it really.

I lost a lot of weight last year - put a bit on over Xmas but not much, and for me it's been knowing our "fuck it - let's just get a takeaway" moments and pre-empting them that's meant it's stayed going off steadily - so there's one night a week I KNOW I work late and can't be arsed to cook when I get in - so I make sure there's something in the slow cooker (crock pot) that's ready when I get home so it's less hassle to eat that than to order food in... things like that.

Gym - yeah fine if you can keep it up as a routine (I did for about a year and a half, changes make it harder to do now)... we've just got a dog and one of the reasons for doing it is that you can skive out of the gym all you want - a dog will pee and eat your furniture if you don't get him and your own exercise. I found as long as I'm exercising I don't need to be nuts to keep the stability in my weight now.

That's actually your body trying to get you back on a bad habit by an extinction burst. It's, as you said, a major step to making a permanent, positive lifestyle change.
