It's after New Year's, so all the bad football teams are done playing! No more watching crappy bowl games like Middle Tennessee and Miami, Ohio in the Godaddy.com bowl so we can focus on ...er, wait. Well, at the least the NFL has gotten rid of all the shitty teams with losing records and ....er, wait.
Well, for those of us whose teams are not playing in a bowl game, out of the playoffs, or the Seahawks, here's something to take your mind off what is sure to be a depressing playoff season. It's the ESPN Gridiron Playoff Challenge!

Group Name: Order of the Blue Gartr
Password: 7-9rules
Everyone is welcome to play -- posters, lurkers, and trolls. You will need to register with ESPN.com if you haven't already. Some of their games have some pretty decent prizes, I would recommend using some real contact info on the off chance you actually win something cool. They're pretty easy to turn the spam off of.
Also, please try to incorporate your BG handle somehow into your team name, or at least post in this thread with your super creative team name so we can bestow you with all the accolades and everlasting respect you deserve by becoming the Grand Poobah.
The game is fairly simple. You have a salary cap of $50 and can set up a fantasy lineup consisting of two QB's, two RB's, two WR's, one TE, one K and one D. Every player has a different value based on their exepcted fantasy performance. Then your team plays and you rack up fantasy points like normal. Please note that their point system is not changable, so I'm sorry if it doesn't match your particular predilections, but I can't change it. Just be familiar with the scoring system when you make your picks so you can adjust accordingly. Also, your entry is entirely separate from other entries, so every single person in the group can (and should) get Brandon Stokley if they so desire.
After each playoff week, you can change your guys out for other guys who are still playing. However, if you retain them from the previous week you get them at the same salary. So if you don't get on the Charlie "Clipboard Jesus" Whitehurst bandwagon in week one, you can pick him up later in his clearly inevitable Super Bowl run, it just won't be for the same low, low price of $4. But if you pick him up now for $4, he's yours until you let him go.
However, you can't change your starters out after the championship game, so you're going to want to pick players prior to the championship games that you think are going to the Super Bowl, as if they lose in the conference title tilt, they're stuck on your team with a 0 point total in the Super Bowl.
There will only be one winner, and in the unlikely event of a tie, I will use ESPN's tiebreakers for the grand prize to establish a group winner.
If you have any questions or trouble logging in, or just generally like to bitch, do so below.
The only prize for winning the group is bragging rights and your name on the list below. If somehow you finish first out of the umpteen tens of thousands of people in the entire game, you win a $2,000 Best Buy gift certificate, which wouldn't hurt my feelings any.
