Do any of you actually live IN chicago or are you all just around it? I have some important questions.

is the job market as bad as people say it is? i have mad fam out there, they are all like YO EMPLOYMENT HERE HAS SUCKED DONT MOVE OUT HERE
out here one can live comfortably off 50grand. would 50 grand cut it there? I cannot imagine the cost of living being that different between DC and Chicago. I'm not trying to live big baller style downtown, but I dont want to live in some ghetto to keep rent cheap.
how important is a car?
do they still dye the river green on st patricks day?
is rogers park ghetto?
what about bucktown?
bucktown is a lil more west than i would like to live but fuck i would love to tell people i am from bucktown
I am from bucktown, and I like to fucktown
who are you talking to buddy
gd it skirkle out of nowhere
oh man. i sort of love what has taken place here
mods = gods
I live like 45 minutes NW of the city in the suburbs
yes it is really bad
yeah 50 Gs is fine for suburbs or outlying city, if you want a reasonable place right smack downtown you'd want something closer to 80 probably
if you live within the actual city you can get by just fine with the CTA mostly, parking fucking sucks in the city and is expensive as shit. If you get out past the reaches of the CTA lines a car is mandatory.
yes, though I think it's just always that color normally
if it ends in park it's probably ghetto
terrible
depending on what you require for your living situation / entertainment, you will either live like a ghetto king or the poorest middle-class person ever. All about where you plan to spend that 50 grand.
if you love parking tickets, constant vehicle damage from environmental exposure, and nearly suicidal drivers on every major highway, very important. Like Cally said though, once you get past city limits and are farther out than the blue line runs... if you don't have a car, you are fucked. Buses are terrible around here and finding things within walking distance is tough.
yes.
I came from West Rogers Park, used to be pretty bad. The closer you get to Devon these days, the more the Indian and Pakistani businesses have cleaned it up. Also Loyola area isn't too terrible.
indie kids everywhere, but like, budget indie kids who can't get into Logan Square / Wicker Park / Ukrainian Village
callisto how come there are no jobs? all i know how to do is politics. does chicago still have a political machine?
i lived in a 2bedroom apt for 487/mo that was 1 block away from lakeshore and it was near wrigleyville/boys town
A lot of the big-time companies in the area that provided jobs hit roug patches and had to do layoffs, shit like Allstate/GE/Sears. Ther's a fair quantity of jobs available doing shit sales/customer service, but not a lot of office jobs that pay anything worth a fuck.
Politicalmachine4lyfe, though the Daleys' reign is over. IL politics are all kinds of a fucking mess.
He already said, like his whole family lives there
